The boiler door opto on my Freddy machine doesn't work. Tried cleaning the lenses but that didn't help. Checking the board I see that one of the 4 red LEDs is lit. What does that light usually indicate? I've heard it could mean a lens alignment issue or a bad connection at the solder points. Anyone care to shed some light on the matter before I start trying to fix the problem? I'd appreciate it.

The LED lit on the opto board means the system thinks the opto is tripped. You should check the large resistors on the opto board and make sure they are all soldered correctly and no cold solder joints.

If after that you still have the LED on you should reflow the solder on both sides of the opto as those joints go cold as well.

Problem solved! Opto wasn't aligned properly. A quick adjustment took care of that. Game plays 100% now.
