Wow what a beautiful playfield. Did you restore the one from the first picture into what we see now? I don't think i have the talent for that so i'm waiting for CPR to finish making theirs.

Night Rider is a great game. I have an EM and a SS version. Love ripping the spinner and the artwork couldnt be more 70s.

Yes that is a restored one. The playfield was completely painted by hand and then auto cleaned.

Hi i'm installing a chime box in my night rider that can from a SS night rider. I removed the diods already so i think im good there but i do not know which chime length should go with what point value. Can anyone help me here? I have it right now wired so that the 1000 point is the shortest chime and the 10 point chime is the longest but i could defiantly have it backwards.

#17 4 years ago

This may help you shortest chime has red wire with white dash. middle chime is blue with white dash. longest chime has orange wire with white dash.

As you can see my middle chime is cooked but that's a later problem trying to get game to stop non stop reset at drop targets upon game start up. I can claim being a member of the club but mines the black sheep of the club.

Just finished one !! We have a EM version as well, Ron Kruzman did his magic on a
NOS playfield . Lots of love for old Night Rider . Gonna put a CPR topper on it next

Just picked a solid state example up today. Have tried a few times to buy one locally but it took three attempts for a deal to stick. This one's been in storage for some time but should clean up great. Missing an MPU but that's easy to deal with.

Got Night Rider running last night. New Alltek MPU and a whole lot of repinning was all it needed to play. Surprisingly the horribly corroded lamp driver board works 95%. I ordered a few clean ones on eBay and figure I can cobble a nice one together without too much trouble. Other than that all it really needs is some attention to the 3 and 4 player displays (I would almost bet this is also harness trouble) and a few lamp sockets replaced. I'm going to give it a flipper rebuild and replace the bushings in the chimes too, even though I could probably leave them alone for awhile.

Joining the club! Drove 1000 miles with it, and just unloaded it. I really feel like King of the Road after this road trip! I'll post more photos once I set it up tomorrow or the next day.

Something fun I did yesterday to my Night Rider EM. This game has the "over the top" feature that sounds a 6 volt buzzer when you roll it over. I decided to amp that up! Being that there is a cop car on the backglass, I thought this idea may be fun.
I have an old motorized coaster style siren off an old Fire Truck. There was just enough room to mount it in the back of the cabinet. To make it work, I used a 6 volt coiled relay to switch a set of contacts for the 12 volts to the siren. Had to add a hurky 12 volt power supply I had hanging around. Wow!!! That is all I can say! The whole neighborhood knows when that game is rolled over, LOL. My wife did not know what I installed. I told her to play it until she could roll it over for a "surprise". Haha, she about shit herself when she finally set it off. Just had to share my crazy Night Rider enhancement.

Just to keep things bumping.

Last year I updated the lighting under the plastics for the drop targets. I used 4" Comet Lighting strips which pop right in with an adapter into the damn near useless light socket for that location.

So now the plastics are properly lit.

So I was playing it yesterday and noticed that it does not give extra balls at the set replay values. The replay values are set correctly, and the adjustment is set to extra ball, not credit. The game does award extra balls correctly when the bank of drop targets is knocked down twice or if the ball goes down the lit outlane. So I know the extra ball relay works. Is there an additional relay or connector that the replay/high score goes through that could be disconnected?

Edit:
When the adjustment is set to credit, it still doesn't work, so it's not tied to that adjustment plug.

I really like this, i tried doing something similar with a flex head bulb down in that useless light socket. It looks better but i will likley change it to something like yours when i place my next order with comet. I did think the playfield needed more light so i added some spotlights. I did have to cut the bottom off the spotlight so the ball wouldn't hit it, but i like the added light.

have a few questions, as i have collected only em pins until now.

has anyone made repro plastics and where is the best place to buy new drop targets, or even decals for them?

Doing some work on my Night Rider and I noticed something very interesting. What I always thought was just really bad playfield wear around the pop bumpers actually turned out to be wood colored mylar rings.

A little while later with the help of a hair dryer and a razor blade, it looks so much better!

Interestingly enough, someone added the wood mylar on top of the clear mylar.Interestingly enough, someone added the wood mylar on top of the clear mylar.

Whoo Hoo! Time to clean up the area with Novus 2.Whoo Hoo! Time to clean up the area with Novus 2.

I don't know who ever though wood grain mylar was a good idea. It is so ugly!

Also, yes. I know the bumper skirts need to be changed. I've never seen them wear out that badly before. It looks almost as if someone trimmed them to slide the mylar over the skirt.

Very common on 60's EM pins, I think this would be the first 70's pin I have seen with them.
