Dream theme. Throw in a Pinsound board with Endprodukt's file and takes the game to a different level. Still can't believe nobody has done a JP based on the new films.

Quoted from shakenbake:

Here is the story behind the machine. I purchased it today from this person. He is a fellow Pinsider and was fantastic to work with.
“I had a good friend back in the day that had a lot of money. She wanted to buy games for her party room in her house so I took her and her husband to the Colorado Game Exchange. Not once did I ever ask for anything from them. To my surprise they bought two Jurassic Park pinball machines and told me one of them was mine. I told them I would pay for it she said no it was a gift from her to me. I still insisted on paying for it. A few days later we were all having a few beers and her and her husband got into an argument. They were both drunk. Eventually they were screaming and yelling at each other. Somehow the husband thought I raised my voice at her. He came in the room and started yelling at me and even pushed me. I told them both to fuck off and I left. A day or two after that the machines were delivered to her house. I ran into her and him about a week later and they both apologized for being overly drunk and for treating me like crap. I told them I didn't need friends like them and would not accept the apology. She started crying and promised it wouldn't happen again. I left. I had not seen either one of them after that until the September 2017. When I seen her she looked at me and said hello and I said hello back. I we talked a bit and eventually I asked her if she still had all the games that she bought back in the day and she told me no and then she said the only game she had was the Jurassic Park she bought for me and she said it was still sitting new in the garage waiting for me to come pick it up. She basically said that if I did not come get it that she was going to throw it away and asked me if I could come get it the next day. She said it was in her way and she wants it gone I told her I would still give her some money for it and she refused the money. She wrote down her phone number and her address and said call me when you're on the way then she left. The next day I called her she said the game was sitting outside in the driveway so I went and picked it up I had a friend go knock on the door and some young kid answered the door and my friend handed the kid the money and said here's some money for the game. So that's basically the story of the NIB Jurassic Park.”

A little late but I just stumbled into this thread... thanks for sharing this story and looking forward to the unboxing. This past year they unboxed an old EM at the York show and the crowd around the event was pretty darned big. I hope it's mint inside that cardboard and works perfectly when you set it up and plug it in!

Not flipped but I’m open to offers after we unbox and go through it!

Wouldn't it be worth more NIB than after the opening? Just curious what others think.

With a new playfield (available yet?) and plastics available. You will start to see an increase of full restores.

Absolutely... once he sets it up and plays it he kills plenty of value but since he's only in it for 5k he probably won't lose anything. Probably 7-8k new in box.

I’m pretty sure it was already mentioned that 5k wasn’t what he actually paid, it was a movie quote

#107 5 years ago

Yeah I don’t get it, 14 days to open a box and setup a game?

#108 5 years ago

Maybe somebody is wanting to buy it before it's opened? For the right dollar I would sell it too

#109 5 years ago

It’s already opened. C’mon dude the foreplay is over. Time for unboxing pics already!

Worst....thread....ever....

#111 5 years ago

Not sure I want to see pictures of dry rotted rubber bits stuck all over everything on the playfield... will be interesting to see all the damage due to just time, and only time. That is what I want to see, like the direct comparison between a JP that has been played for 25+ years and one that has sat unplayed, literally, for the same period. What insight could a manufacturer gain in comparing the two? Or would they care?

#112 5 years ago

Yeah talk about anti-climactic

Drained.

Just seeing this. I thought for sure that story would begin, "This never happens to me, but I had to write in and tell about my wild night..." and then end with a cigarette. Disappointed

#117 5 years ago

Here's what I think happened to this thread - OP realized how much money this thing was worth in todays market and said close those flaps fellas b/c this baby is being sold.

Once this thing comes out of that box, value drops sig. Too bad b/c I was hoping to see what a true NIB JP looks like (unboxed of course!)

#118 5 years ago

Or it was so roached when he unboxed it it was a basket case, but I have 25+ year old rubber rings laying in the bottom of a couple of coin boxes that would really make me think twice about offering anything more than $5000 for it sight unseen. I mean the inside might look immaculate with the exception of all the natural materials like paper, stickers, playfield wood, cabinet wood, any tags, cardboard, rubber, some plastics will have outgassed, and nylon gears will be brittle, and insulation may be damaged. I think I would be nervous as f--- turning it on. I think the T-Rex might go down on a ball, but not sure he will be coming back up with it anytime soon...

#119 5 years ago

There's going to a be a firesale of Jurassic Park pins soon, see my post about it here
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/christians-sell-your-jurassic-park-pin-now
The thread is locked so I can't write that I found that post in a group called Christians Against Dinosaurs on facebook.

Wow, it’s like the nihilists suddenly giving a shit... or not?

Eh, each their own. Maybe they sold it cheap haha

#122 5 years ago

Let’s see that game and boards!!!

#123 5 years ago

So...... I can’t ever remember reading a thread about a 25 year old NIB pin being opened and it having damage. I think your blowing a lot of little stuff out of proportion. I’m not looking it up cause I don’t care but I am pretty sure someone opened a NIB Black Knight a few years back with no issues.

One problem the game is guaranteed to have..... that stupid speaker hum.

I think everyone just wants to see whats inside the box... no matter what the condition or why the delay... or the fact he is or isn’t having second thoughts about unboxing it, because I think I would arrange some kind of media coverage if not doing it live on a video stream and charge admission. I would give him $5 to watch. Hell, auction off being the one throwing the power switch the first time or playing the first game too... make it a circus, sell popcorn and hot dogs... I don’t care, I just want to see what’s in the box... ymmv

It’s still in the box but we will be opening it. Just getting everything lined up to have a few camera angles and good lighting. I’m
Also on the road a lot right now.

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face - a guy who owes you nothing is taking too long to give you what you want, so in protest you make a post to say that you will no longer view something that clearly interests you when he does find the time?

The entitlement of some Pinside users knows no bounds. We’re all people with lives outside pinball - what happened to appreciating those who share something cool with the rest of us when their time allows them to do so?

It's called life. People go to work, pay bills, repair their cars, spend time with family, have other hobbies, work on the house, take their pets to the vet, visit people in the hospital, etc. Few people actually have the ability to work on pinball all the time.

Thing is though, I’d imagine most here are a bit older. I thought that at 32 I’d be younger than most, which makes it even harder for me to understand how some users are so impatient. Ah well.

I looked in the mirror today. Since this thread started, I have grown a beard, I am a 1/4” shorter, and I can braid my ear hair.. I won’t say the “D” word, but it is starting to look like it is heading for “SDTM again”... but maybe someone can slap save it for us?
