Whatever you do, keep the cartoon "thung....." sounds when you hit the pop bumpers. That has to be my favorite part of the game, audio-wise.

I always thought of a "Kremzeek"(that energy being from Transformers cartoon series) mode where he messes up the machine:
1. pop bumpers go off randomly
2. slingshots sometimes hit, sometimes don't
3. delayed slingshot hits(random delay) sending the ball to unpredictable places.
4. (if possible in hardware) have slingshots react to only one or the other reed switch.
Messing up the timings of said PF objects could make for some interesting game mechanics.
