Its late and I need to sleep. Taking a break from this tomorrow. Headed up to Maine to see my dad for Fathers day. I will make a stop off in Pelham NH to Pinball Wizards arcade for a few hours on my way. I think they have 100 machines running?

Almost everything re populated. Need to fix my switches for the flipper LED's. LED's for the light strip are still in the mail and I am short one star post which I just ordered with Marcos Game could be playable Monday but not finished by any means. Will get some better pictures another night.

Quoted from BallPtPenTheif:

What medium are you printing those playfield decals onto and how are you blending them down onto the play surface? Does the clear coat get rid of the decals raised edge?

Curious myself!

Take a well deserved rest, my friend!

So I got in last night around 11:30 and instead of doing the smart thing and going to bed, I dug back into this until about 2 a.m.

Pulled the backglass and cleaned it and sealed it with krylon triple thick. Sealed the one big flake right back to where it belonged. Changed of the LEDs in the back box.

Took out the lockdown bar receiver and cleaned that up, and pulled apart the coin door and cleaned everything on that.

Gave the outside of he cabinet a cleaning with some purple power. Took a lot or brown gunk off that you couldn't see but the colors definitely look more vibrant now.

Finally put everything back on the front of the cabinet. Still need to pull the legs, clean and install nice new leveled and leg bolts.

Tonight I hope to pull the power board tray and scrub out the inside of the cabinet. LEDs for the lighstrip showed up too so hopefully I can rewire that board.

How are you buffing the coin door to look so nice?

#211 11 years ago

This thing is gonna be killer when done. I bet it will be about the nicest custom Xenon out there.

Great job. It's like watching a Frankenstein be built! (only more attractive)

#212 11 years ago

Thanks Whridls, you just got me motivated to do a better cleaning job on my Xenon coin door, and on my Bally Lost World. Thanks for all your posts w/ pics attached. Your Xenon is coming along great. She is gonna be a knock-out!

#213 11 years ago

Thank a

It's varathane clearcoat

For the coin door I used fine steel wool then a product called Never-Dull. It's silver tin full of a cotton ball like stuff. Rip a piece off and rub the metal. Sold in auto stores and Walmart I think too

#214 11 years ago

In case no on saw my other thread, I'm trying to figure out what this writing is on the back of the backglass. It's neat. Too nice for a scribble and didn't wash off. Not sure if it's a previous op or owner that did it.

Good progress tonight. My work space/office/spare bedroom is all back in order now too wich is nice. It was a wreck.

Put the backglass in, and fired up the game to check all the LED's. This backglass looks amazing with LED's Pictures and video do not do it justice.

Pulled out the power board to clean it and the cabinet up.

#218 11 years ago

While I had the power board out I cleaned it up and then modified my computer power supply to give me connections for 12V and 5V and mounted it to the power board. I need to install switched power to it still but for now I can run it off the service outlet until I am done working on the game.

#219 11 years ago

Cleaned out the cabinet and put the power board back in. I'm happy with the results for what it is. Smells a hell of a lot better too. I vacuumed a ton of shit out of it and everything had a black coating on it. No more dirty hands working in the cabinet.

#220 11 years ago

Put the playfield into the cabinet and fired it up to see what work I have ahead of me. Also installed the EL wire on the ramp before it went back in.

All my coils work fine in the test. All switches test out fine after some adjusting. Lots of bulbs need adjusting on the inserts. Game wont play either. Press start and it goes into start game mode. But never says ball in play 1. Just stays at 0 and it doesn't pop a ball in the shooter lane. If I put one the game manualy just the saucers will eject the ball. No switches register anything slings/pops and flippers don't work. As soon as the ball drains it immediatly kicks it up to the secondary ball holder that kicks the ball to the shooter lane, but that secondary one doesn't eject the ball its already holding. Not sure what the game is doing. Will take some investigating tomorrow.

Holy shit those LEDs dramatically fit the aesthetic. Great choice..

now those decals.. what are you printing them on?

#223 11 years ago

Sorry. Decalpaper.com

Clear water slide decals. Very thin and clearing over them levels everything out.

#224 11 years ago

Damn that looks nice. You just created "Bride of Tron"

#225 11 years ago

Did the game work 100% when you got it?

#226 11 years ago

Still need to do the red led lighstrip

I made the game run 100 percent before I tore it down. I will start to read up in clays guides tonight.

#227 11 years ago

Whridlsoncestood
Great work, looks totally awesome!!!
Hopefully you'll get it running very soon. I'm sure all of us here will be helping you troubleshoot the pin.
Would love to see it in Person. Went to Quinnipiac in the early 70s for 2 semesters, across from Sleeping Giant State Park. If I'm ever in the area hopefully I can see your restoration.

#228 11 years ago

Of course! I live over on evergreen ave. I'm sure you know where that it. Right down the road. I have no doubt I will have this running. I'm sure it's something simple

#229 11 years ago

That's a beautiful machine Whridlsoncestood.

I vaguely remember setting those up new... way back when.

#230 11 years ago

Any progress?

#231 11 years ago

Game works!

I missed a 3rd switch in the ball trough. Switch actuator must of got bent in my tumbler. Bent it up and ball now shoos out and game starts.

Game plays great except I have no left flipper. Looks like a weekend project

#232 11 years ago

Great, almost there!

#233 11 years ago

Yay! What are you gonna do with the machine when finished?

#237 11 years ago

Outstanding thread!!!!

#238 11 years ago

I would like to get a copy of your playfield scan when available

#239 11 years ago

If you'd be willing to share how the switches work to operated the LEDS under the flippers I'd really appreciate it! I really want to do that to my Xenon and Flash Gordon.

#240 11 years ago

Scan just needs to be stitched together and I will get it out to everyone that had requested it Switches need to be modified too. They aren't always making contact right now. Once they are fixed it will get some good shots of them with instructions

#241 11 years ago

Update?

#242 11 years ago

Its alive! Thanks to Robertmee's suggestion I found a bad trace from the flipper relay to header pin 1 on J1. Ran a jumper wire and I have both flippers now. 4 of my neices and nephews came over today for my birthday and played it. They loved it. The music getting faster and faster really gets the little ones pumped.

Game looks great. Going to try and rewire the light strip behind the tube now.
