Looks like Stern has had pretty good success of late with some of their Rock music themed games, producing one each year. Any buzz on what the next one might actually be? They've all been bands originating in the 60s - early 80s, but wonder if they would consider a 90s band like Pearl Jam or Foo Fighters? Still wouldn't mind seeing a Rush or Van Halen pin, though!

    Dream On.

Saw the Iron maiden threads, just didn't know how realistic that was and was curious about thoughts on the 90s bands.

    #4 3 years ago

    Maiden
    Rush
    Snoop
    Wu-Tang

Any of those would kick ass

    #5 3 years ago

If they go with iron maiden I would be spending money. Nice line up. Ac/dc, Metallica, GNR and maiden. The Eddie artwork could be a interesting looking pin.

    #7 3 years ago

Maiden by Stern and Slayer and/or Motörhead by Spooky, LE pins for me if they would happen

    #8 3 years ago

When i was at Stern a few weeks ago doing a tour i noticed in the corner where they have the test beds i saw B J in letters on the wiring diagram....
Looks like Bon jovi could be next? I know they are huge in Europe still and sell out mega venues...including Australia that saw them sell out shows across the country
Could it be next ? Well it wouldnt be Billy Joel thats for sure...although im a fan of his too.

Iron Maiden - Huge catalog of art and music to work with.
Judas Priest - Again, huge catalog of music to work with. Black Knight 2000 play field reminds me of a Judas Priest theme.
Def Leppard - Same thing, huge catalog of music (First 4-5 albums the best IMO), could theme well.

I know this is about music but Stern should let loose any of the pinball designers and let them come up with a original theme, original hand drawn art where they don't have to pay out a license fee.

    #10 3 years ago

I know it's a long shot with too many other potentially great music pins but I'm still hoping for a Crue pin. LE Shout At The Devil edition!!!!!

    #11 3 years ago

I'm of the belief that Aerosmith is the odds on favorite for next music pin. Largest selling US rock band. Stern has shown some love for "relics of rock" performers.

Summer release will have Dirty Donny art from what I've heard, so there's that.

    #15 3 years ago

Next rock theme will be "Igneous".

So...it's going to be hard rock?

I'm guessing whatever it is, some will buy it, and some will think it's a joke.

I'd like to see a mixed theme. Have it be rock band centered, sure, but have the rock band doing something interesting:

"Nirvana fights off space aliens, saves the world."

"Iron Maiden sent back to the Middle Ages, must get back to present day after fighting off an Orc invasion"

I'd love to see a decade-themed music pin, with one-hit wonders from the era and artwork to match. All the machines could be the same, with each edition sporting paired artwork & music. Something like an "I Love the '80s." Maybe they could strike a deal with MTV for artwork. Similar to Bally's Party Animal, there could be a era-appropriate jukebox (or CD player or iPod) that changes the songs. I'll bet rights to a bunch of those 60s/70s/80s one-hitters would be cheaper than acquiring 3 or 4 songs (and artwork) from the big hitters. Then they could satisfy more people all at once. Just buy the edition that suits your nostalgia.

    DEVO!

    #29 3 years ago

    I'd LOVE a Devo Pin !!

Sadly I'm pretty sure it's Aerosmith w/J. B. as Designer.

I love JB's Design style but AS does nothing for me.

But I said the same thing about KISS & bought 1 after playing it !

That isnt what I think about when I see the letters BJ....

You could have a spiral ramp shaped like a DEVO hat (energy dome).

    Are we not men?

    Pink Floyd

A mod LED light going to a diamond plated playfield.. might be kinda crazy.

So many 'rock' theme pins already. While I do enjoy them, I think a "Beastie Boys" pin would be in order. Change it up a little and it's sort of rock

I know it's been done before but I'd love to see a Stern Guns N' Roses. They re-made KISS, so maybe it's not completely impossible.

Too white bread (well, I guess Jewish Rye).

If were going to do rap, Stern has to take it to the other level of the game.

The mutha fnckin', jizz squirtin', Geto Boys:

It's off topic, but if Stern went the rap direction, my vote would be for 2Pac.

    That would be cool.

The player would have to advance through each phase of 2Pac's life:

    1. Get into the Baltimore School for the Arts to study Ballet.

    2. Get to be a roadie for the Digital Underground

    3. Move up to be a back up dancer for the Digital Underground

    4. Have Dan Quayle blame your songs for the death of a state trooper.

    5. Drop your gun while signing autographs and have it discharge killing a 6 year old boy.

    6. Go to prison for sexual assault.

    7. Get killed by the Southside Crips

    8. Wizard Mode: Get your ashes smoked by members of the Outlawz.

I wish Stern had the balls to make it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a huge Beastie Boys fan, but I like them enough to know that I sure as hell could get down to that while playing pinball. Pretty badass theme actually, I'd love to see it made.

GNRVE would be amazing that pin is getting hard to find and expensive..
