I'm probably the only person on earth who has never seen Avatar, any Lord of the Rings movie, any Harry Potter movie, a single episode of The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, a single episode of Stanger Things, any of the Jurassic Park movies after the first one, any of the Transformers movies, any of the Iron Man movies, and I'm sure the list continues. This is by choice. I'm under 40, too.
Unfortunately, I doubt Casino, Goodfellas, Heat, Ronin, The Godfather Trilogy, any Hitchcock movie, or a plethora of others will ever be, (and probably shouldn't be) made into machines.
Very few modern licenses excite me at all. It was a breath of fresh air when BKSOR came out, and Steve Ritchie injected some machismo/balls back into the game. Give me a strong female character/femme fatale ala TNA, and that would work, too. I want a game that gets me pumped up every time I play it. I want a game that gets the blood moving!
Give me a strong, aggressive theme (fast cars, racing, combat, etc.), a kickass soundtrack, some double entendre/comical callouts that aren't cringe worthy, and I'm there! Beating the "bad guys" is an easily understood, and universal theme. As much as I love my family, culinary arts, and the mundaneness of everyday life, I don't want to play a pin about it. Pinball is at its best when it is fantasy/an escape. The Pinside top 10/20/30 agrees with that.
Of course, this is probably a day dream from a guy who was born into the last bastion of red-blooded American males.
Yeah, yeah, I'll go be an old man somewhere else
