Quoted from Pbpins:Not the initial early runs, boards are in the way
correct. I was the one who worked with jeff to help redesign the mod to v2.0
the original boards that lit the car tail lights were not inset and although you could make the mod work, there was the potential that the screen from the LCD panel of the ColorDMD mod could get scratched.
this, along with a few other suggestions that were made, led jeff to re-tool and release the 2.0 version of his mod which in my opinion is really a mod that every CftBL owner should have in their game
I'm not sure if you missed the cut-off (if there was one), but I just received mine (for a friend) on friday and I'll say that it's definitely worth the money and wait
in fact, I think that the build quality is actually slightly nicer than when the 2.0 version was originally released
Quoted from NPO:After digging through some of Thompson's other threads, here is my big question: are we wanting to take the black material OFF the back of the original speaker panel, and THEN apply the vinyl sticker? Makes sens to me, but wanting to make sure....
you'll need to look at your original speaker panel to make that determination. the vinyl mask that jeff provides has cut-outs for the flying saucer as well as all of the car tail lights and starlight sign. if you hold your original panel up to the light and cannot see these elements, then "yes", you will need to carefully remove the original vinyl mask and replace it with the new one provided
you definitely want to use something like goo gone (which is a citris oil based product) and NOT goof off
goof off will strip the artwork right off of the plexi
