New Stern pro video just gone up on facebook.

Quoted from thunderking50:

I printed and laminated the Pro and Premium backglass
And made them apron cards
I also did this on Metallica

I'll take a set for both please,lol.

I am having a problem on my LE, the switch at the bottom of the sarcophagus scoop(when the ramp raises up) is not registering. When I first went in after a handful of games I noticed the metal tab on the switch had been busted off, I got it all put back together but one of the screws that hold that switch in place was missing as well(not sure if this was something Stern missed or intentional to position it). When I get it all back in place where it appears it is supposed to be it won't register the ball in there. Switch tests fine, just not registering with a ball, SO frustrated. Anyone have similar problem or advice, I have tried 20 times to position it different and just no luck.

Yes i played with the metal plate of the switch for a long time before getting the perfect angle to register in upper position and in level position.

Gotta play with that little metal plate

Not sure what you mean? You are talking about the metal tab part of the switch that presses and registers? It seems in looking at it the only way that switch tab registers is having it over the coil that fires to launch it out(and kind of what I am guessing knocked the metal tab piece off my switch originally)

#6756 5 years ago

Does the switch mount even on this metal piece of the under sarcophagus scoop where both the screws would go(again I only have one screw in mine). If so I can't get it to register. That metal arm is not registering a ball in there.

If its switch 40 its the switch under the plastic mummy ...take the 4 screw out put the game in diag then IM game test and choose Lock Test , then adjust the metal plate with switch 40 on your screen and you can also move the sarcaphacus in all angle in the test mode

Hope this helps

No not the mummy, the rising ramp on LE, it is the VUK switch underneath in that scoop that got broken and now won't register a ball in there, switch appears fine and works in test but can't a ball to register it. Pretty much makes game unplayable and I'm so frustrated.

#103 has been pretty much a nightmare since opening breaking my streak of minor to no issues with nib Stern games. I sort of knew what problems I would have out of the box. Did not expect to have my ramp frozen in the up position since this raising ramp has been in a bunch of other games over the years. But like the sarcophagus the ramp mech could be an issue for some.

I love the game (only have 3 games on it)and will fix my issues but in a week when premiums start showing up, people are going to freak over the same issues I am having. Quite obvious from talking to Stern tech that they really did not perfect either of these two upgrade features and are dealing with a ton of issues from owners like me.

Worst part is I see nothing wrong visually with either mech. Going to take apart the ramp over this weekend and hopefully find something wrong. My guess it's a coil issue (I hope).

Does the ramp go back down after powering off the game and restarting a new game? Or is it always up?

A little of both, seems to drop down at random times but mainly it stands up tall and does a little shimmy when the coil fires. So it does go down but not from powering down the machine.

Does it try to go down when it’s supposed to? Doing that shimmy? Maybe if you can post a video up of it that might help.

Will the moving ramp on Maiden possibly scratch up the PF?

I recall TWD Premium/LE players & owners reporting issues of a clunky ramp feel and scratched PF’s

Just put a piece of mylar there if it doesnt already have one and you should be good to go.

It does have Mylar under the ramp. I’m sure Cliff will have a Cliffy for it soon, just like he did for TWD.

Don’t take apart the ramp. I had the same issue. If yours is the same, the back part of your ramp has a sharp lower edge and is rubbing and catching on the ball guide behind and below it. It’s sharp metal on metal and causes it to stick just long enough that the release coil has finished its attempt to let the ramp down. My fix was to put a tiny bit of 3in1 oil on a qtip and run a little oil on the ball guide. Problem solved. In my opinion, these should not be touching, so I’ll be looking at adjusting the coil and/or coil stop so the ramp does not raise so high, thus not rubbing the ball guide.

I don't own the game yet but plan on getting a premium. I'm almost 100% sure that switch needs two screws to work properly. With only one screw, you would have to tighten it severely to hold the switch in place. If you over tighten screws on switches like this, the switch may not work at all. Just get another screw, either from Stern, PBL, Marco, etc. Then adjust the switch slightly until it registers with a ball.

I did that same thing and the ramp started getting stuck again after about 10-15 games or so.

Just installed the new ramp assembly that Stern sent me and its perfect again for now.

JEALOUS! I hope to hear from my distributor this week. What code was it running when you got it?

.97

#6775 5 years ago
Quoted from Chalkey:

Mine was really early and shipped with .91 code.
Re:auto plunger- figure out if its hitting off the bottom of the upper right flipper pr exiting the shooter lane at too low of a trajectory. This is most easily accomplished by going to the menu, diags, coil test and testing the kick out coil. It'll spit a ball out and launch it. Get up close with the glass off and make sure it's not hitting the upper right flipper and determine if it's hitting high or low of the target loop. Remove the right middle plastic to reveal the adjustment screw for the top rail of the shooter lane. Adjust and retest.
Mine was giving me a fit as I thought it was set too low and it turned out it was just *barely* grazing the upper right flipper about 1/10 times.
If your manual plunger is not dead center both left right and up down it will also cause missed and rattling through the loop making the super skill shot very hard to obtain.

So after doing what Chalkey said, my auto plunger and manual are back to working like a Swiss watch. I had to move the top rail of the shooter lane up. This was after messing with the auto plunger strength, leveling the game different ways, etc. There is some room to move the top rail under the screw, see pic. Thanks for your input!

Has anyone seen the 50 les that the band reserved? Not on the bands Web store.

#6779 5 years ago
Quoted from tatman9999:

Got my premium last week. Set it up next to my pro.

Can we be friends... I mean... Man, what a great collection... And you must be loaded if you can basically buy the same pin twice... a bit Jelly as I prefer the pro art package, but I really wanted to have the gameplay of the prem. As I think the lock ball device is a really cool idea, and who doesn't love ramps that go up and down.
But, man... You got a collection like how I hope to have one day. To have so many options at playing pinball in one house... That's living the dream.

#6780 5 years ago
Quoted from Tranquilize:

Not much, other than the coil arm of the new one doesn't seem to extend as far and get caught up like the defective one.

Here's a pic of the entire assembly which took me 5 mins to swap out. Super easy

Just a question when I see some videos: isn’t it too tough to keep an eye on the lower flippers, on the upper right flipper and the more upper left flipper on multiball?

Once you get used to the gameplay, you can move your focus around. I find that I can still know where the lower balls are for short bursts of attention up top. There’s nothing cooler than hammering 3+ Big loops during multiball without losing a ball! Nailing the large and small loop at the same time is epic, epic, epic!

#6792 5 years ago

I dont find Iron Maiden to be frustrating at all. In fact, the games and ball times can be longer than other Sterns IMO, especially my other ones MET/TWD/and especially Star Wars which I find to be even faster and more challenging than Maiden and definitely more frustrating (in a good way!)

Overall, Maiden is an excellent pin and its frantic and crazy but not at all frustrating. IMO, the most frustrating shot can be the left ramp trying to make it through the poppers and combo-ing the ramps in Mummy Multiball.. I just can't seem to combo them much... practice makes perfect though!

I find them to be quite different yet in subtle ways. The LE/premium add a little more stop and go to an insanely fast game. This allows for a better mental balance in my opinion. I also find some of the modes to be better with the underworld, and the left orb is a great addition. Lastly, instant mummy multiball is so much better! I've found my LE to be more enjoyable than the pro. The pro is still a great game though and kills it on bang for buck.

My max combos on the ramps is 7...most of the time it’s maybe 2.

yes agreed but I don't think its widely different, not missing out on anything major was my main point.

#6797 5 years ago
Quoted from MikeS:

The problem with most LE/Premium features in games is that Stern underutilizes them in code. They don't typically want to make the game experience that much different from the Pro. Things like the Iron Hyde playfield in transformers, the GOT upper playfield, ACDC lower playfield, X-Men pop-ups, etc. just don't get utilized to their full potential and don't have very good rules built around them. Maybe that will change on Maiden but as of now I don't think the extra premium features give you that much extra as far as gameplay enhancements go.

sorry a little late

I agree with this 100 percent / perhaps that is why the games are cheaper too / extra stuff that does not do much as opposed to an extra Mode or something like Daft punk in Tron .

There is an extra mode in the PRE/LE that is not in the Pro. Keith announced it on a podcast this week. It's based around Can I Play with Madness and has the ramp going up and down and you have to time your shot to get it under the ramp.
