Quoted from sudsy7:I like the fact you ship them flat. I bought one from BAA once - it was rolled and permanently deformed.
I had the same issue with my F14 protector. Still fighting it a year later to try to keep the edges down. They should always be shipped flat.
Quoted from tacshose:If these are so great why does every pinball in a collection not have one and why is Stern not putting them on at the factory. No more PF wear seems like a no brainier...
Some people do not like them because it changes the way the game "feels". The metal ball on wood has a "feel" and sound to it that isn't there with the the PF protector. Also, it is a pain to clean and wax - yes I wax the plastic to keep it looking good. Dirt will get under the protector over time, so if your are meticulous about your pin, this could drive you crazy. Some people think the PF slows down the ball. With waxing it, I (and my wife & kids) think it actually speeds up the play. It does help with PF wear if the pin is onsite at a arcade, but some people think that if you just keep your PF waxed for HUO a PF protector is not necessary. All that being said, my F14 PF was showing wear, so I put a protector on it to preserve what was left. If it wasn't for the edges always curling up, I would love it. See the 13:45 mark of my video link below for my original battle with the old style protector. I advise NOT to get the old style shipped rolled up. I have not see the new style on a pin yet.
Note that JJP offers a PF protector to be installed as an option for NIB pins. It is just not too popular for HUO pins.
Just my opinions ...
