Quoted from tbutler6:

Chris Pratt and his blue dinosaurs are no Alan Grant and Ian Malcom.

That's true, but there hasn't been a great JP film since the original. Jurassic World was IMHO the second best film in the franchise. Not great, but the others were pretty bad. Either way hopefully the theme is essentially just there to establish a modern day world with dinosaurs. I'd prefer they don't try to follow the film too closely.

Quoted from TreyBo69:

Why do you care who Bond is? They've changed the main actor a dozen times. Heck, it's sorta fun that they mix it up.
Or are you already positive the film is trash because a black woman can't possible portray a British Spy agent...because reasons you will only hint at. Like so what it's a woman. They'll still probably film her punching commies/fascists/generic-ne'er-do-wells in the face, drinking dry martinis, and having sex with hot lady assassin types. (And on some level I think it is dumb that they won't make a spy movie starring a black woman without attaching a valuable IP like Bond to the project to help generate some publicity because it sets an impossible standard and will upset a lot of people who care too much about things that don't actually matter)

People also complained when they hired Daniel Craig..."James Bond shouldn't have blond hair." Not sure it's totally because of Craig, but I'd put Casino Royale, right up there with the best of Sean Connery or any other Bond. I'm not going to prejudge this next film simply because they are switching up the gender and race.

love Congo! so bring it on!!!!

Quoted from westofrome:

STTNG = widebody, multiple subways and cannons?

Unpopular opinion, Congo > Star Trek: The Next Generation. Sold my Congo to fund a STTNG, then sold STTNG to fund Ghostbusters. I don't have regrets, as I've decided I'm going to rotate games in and out more often, but of those games Congo was my favorite.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

And if there is everybody will bitch that it's been done before.

I don't know. The t-rex is one of the best toys of all time. It would be right up there with doing a Medieval Madness sequel and not having a castle.

I'm happy they went with Jurassic Park over Jurassic World.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Not a fan of the original score.[quoted image]

How do you not like the original score? It's one of few movie scores that gives me goose bumps.

Quoted from frankmac:

Pro left Pre/LE right[quoted image]

Unlimited money, I'd take the Pre/LE, but I'm not seeing enough difference to justify the typical price difference.

Quoted from benheck:

Jurassic Park is to millenials what Star Wars is to Gen X. They worship the movie, probably because they saw it when young and didn't realize how much better the book was
It's super popular in the 25-35 year old crowd. You know, the people who actually go to barcades? The next generation we hope gets into pins?
I still think Stranger Things would have been smarter but if you MUST make a JP game yes the 1993 one is smart.

Quoted from delt31:

I'm one of those people in love with JP (in fact I have a hard time understanding how folks don't get it) but I'm also 37. I wasn't aware JP really hit the 25 year olds. I'm thinking def 30s to mid 40s.

37 and JP is my favorite movie. I haven't been a fan of any of the sequels, but the original is still near perfection.

Quoted from MRG:

I think the dino is just a ball lock from the ramp shot. balls will be released onto the ramp.

I hope it's more like the original. Ball is eaten then appears somewhere else on the playfield. I don't need a "puking" dinosaur.

Quoted from Extraballz:

Here’s a thought......give the new to Stern artist BK and JP to Zombie Yeti. Low res pics or not I am not a huge fan of the art.

That's almost not fair though. Zombie Yeti is by far my favorite artist working in pinball. What I especially appreciate about him, is his ability to seamlessly blend shot lines into the art. Anything not done by him is a step down, but this isn't terrible by any means. Across the board, pinball art has improved a lot in the last few years, IMHO.

[insert joke about Stern's lack of finishing code]

Earlier in this thread one of the rumors was re-releasing Iron Maiden with a different theme. I not a general fan of re-releases, but that's a layout that I would love to see on a different theme. Give me that layout with Zombie Yeti art as Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Back to the Future, Jaws, etc. and it would have a strong possibility as being my first NIB Stern. Make it Harry Potter and I'd put down a deposit.

Quoted from delt31:

Random thought but let's say DE JP never came out and Stern released it now. I think they could charge 6k+ and people would pay for it..... Especially with that dino eating the ball. Imagine we never saw that before until now?

Exactly as it is, I think they would get a lot of complaints about going back to the DMD and having terrible playfield art. Outside of those two things, I don't think they would have any issue. The original Jurassic Park has a great layout (borrowed from Whirlwind / Addams Family), great toys, plus includes a topper and shaker motor.

Quoted from kermit24:

My guess: I think you hit the captive call to get the truck to rotate to change the travel direction of the player. It determines how you progress on the map.

I hope they don't include that "monster truck" in the animations. Replacing it with a Jeep Wrangler would be my first mod. It looks like it was designed to appeal to my 7 year old kids. Bonus, if I can find one with Ian Malcom sitting in the back as they are being chased by a t-rex..."Must go faster."

Quoted from PinKopf:

I was thinking the same thing, but it has to just about be a sure thing that the current truck will be featured in the animations. It's going to feature pretty heavily into the whole map and paddock rules I take it. It also looks proportioned strangely, I'm getting it is a hollow shell that covers most of the spinning mechanism and might make replacement a challenge too, if so.

I don't disagree, it's on the LE artwork. Overall, I like the look of the game, but to me that toy stands out in a bad way.

#1429 4 years ago

I think it looks great. Seems to be an homage to the original, while still being a brand new game. Huge fan of Keith. It was a great move by Stern to bring them on their design team.

#1502 4 years ago

Yeah, if the T-Rex ate the ball on the Pro, I'd say Pro would be the way to go, but without that the Premium seems like it might be the better option. My main concern remains the truck. I don't think I can buy anything at the moment, but if I were to buy another Stern it would be either Iron Maiden or Jurassic Park (Premium).

Have you ever typed anything remotely useful or intelligent?

Trolls gotta troll. Honestly curious, is there anyone else with over 2,000 votes who has a lower up / down rating?

Quoted from RatShack:

Why does the Jeep have truck nuts?[quoted image]

Based on the video the first ball looks to be mounted from under the playfield. It acts as a Newton ball which pivots the other ball from left to right. I think "free motion" like that is still underutilized in pinball. If I ever designed a machine, I would want to utilize those pop targets from Elvira, Cactus Canyon, etc.

#1649 4 years ago
Quoted from mystman12:

I'm hoping they don't just throw the movie soundtrack in the game like Star Wars. The Jurassic Park soundtrack is fantastic, but it doesn't fit pinball. Would be awesome if they got Brian Schmidt to do a modern take on the Data East JP soundtrack.

I'm fine with that as long as they keep the songs Theme From Jurassic Park and Journey to the Island. Especially that "adventure" part from the end of Journey to the Island as they are traveling to the Visitors Center for the first time.

Quoted from Peanuts:

3D modeling seems to be well made.

Looks great. Based on his depiction on the playfield, I assume they must have signed a deal with Wayne Knight. Can't wait to see some of his animations.

Quoted from HookedonPinonics:

I love Jack Danger and what he does for pinball. It is amazing that the guy commits himself to stream pinball almost everyday. The amount of dedication is crazy. I do like that Stern uses him now for the stream reveals. I do have one gripe and its really not a big deal but on every one of these reveal streams it seems that half of the attendance does not want to be there. They will bring the whole team in the room to introduce them and who did what for the game but once the gameplay starts going half of the room just looks bored and looks like they want to go home. You then see everyone on their cell phones and what not. Just seems a little unprofessional on Sterns end. Again, I do not care but it does look bad and it sort of blows the excitement away.

It's a catch 22. If they were loud, people would complain about not being able to hear the machine. I've been to a few of them and most of the time you try to let the guys on camera have their moment, so you just kind of stand around talking quietly with the others waiting for your turn.

Can't afford one but glad I have a buddy ordering a Pro. Can't wait to shoot it at the launch party.

Quoted from IdahoRealtor:

I think Spooky should’ve hired Elwin. A great playfield designer is the only thing they are lacking IMO. Stern’s bullpen is so stacked it’s not even fair.

Every company should have hired Keith, Lyman, and Zombie Yeti. They are my dream team.

Quoted from ViperJelly:

With all the praise on the animations I watched some of the video again. I like that they have a lot of animations I am just not sure they are great. Based on what I saw I do not believe they are better than BKSOR.

I agree with you. My favorite was the T-Rex Rampage, but I'm not sure it totally fits with the rest of the game. My least favorite is the 1st person view driving around the park.
