Been thinking of one since hanging out in the arcades in the 80's. Now that I have a couple kids and looking something to jazz up the game room I came up on a T2 pin that looks pretty good and seemed to play great. Going to take a peek at it and make sure all is working and look under the hood. They are asking $800 and was wondering if that is a good deal or not.

As long as everything is working it seems like a steal to me

#3 12 years ago

If it works well, 800 bones is not terrible!

It's a broad appeal pin.

#4 12 years ago

That is a very fair price if everything works correctly. Good luck and welcome to Pinside jeffdude!

If that thing is working 100%, that is a good price. Looks like all it needs is a good shop job.

#6 12 years ago

I already have a T2 and I'd buy it for 800! Do it, you'll get your money back if you decide to sell.

That's a good price even if it has minor problems like bad switches or weak flippers. Of course if you are not mechanically inclined enough to shop it yourself and fix the little things then it becomes less of a good deal.

I hate T2 and I'd still buy that for $800 just knowing I could flip it and make a few hundred.

Buy, buy buy...

It looks like it is in better than average condition. Make sure that the cannon works correctly since the whole game releys on its functionality. Also check the GI circuits. I have included a pic of a T2 GI circuit that was so bad I had to replace it with a Rottendog board. The T2's got tons on play on the road and alot of them have board damage. I would also look on the back to see if there is a label noting its a re-import. If it is check the power box in the front and trace to the transformer to make sure there is no hack wiring job. It's a boring pin IMO, but any working DMD under $1000.00, is a "yes" vote.

That driver board is repairable But I can see why you'd want to replace it!

I still have it for parts. The header pins were fused to the board, traces were burned, and through holes were gone. I can do some board repair but this was out of my league. For the price of an expert repair I got a new board from Rottendog at a hell of a good price.

800?!? That's a fantastic deal. I couldn't talk one down under $1400 here that had wear..... 1200 seems average.

#14 12 years ago

That is pretty good. Should be able to break even or make a few dollars when you are ready to replace it.

#15 12 years ago

Buy it to keep it. Otherwise leave it. Buying a cheap pin to flip for a small profit isn't worth it.

#16 12 years ago

I have been looking for a T2 for $1000 or less. $800 is a good deal for sure.

#17 12 years ago

That's a really good deal, PF looks in good condition. Make sure it mostly works before buying it, though, or you could be in over your head getting it working.

Look at the boards in the backbox too - check for obvious bad hackjob repairs. There's nothing wrong with board work, if it's done well, but badly done board work can be a real pain to address. A burnt connector for general illumination should not be a deal breaker (it's common and easily repaired).

If you haven't already.... BUY!

Thanks all for the excellent advice and encouragement . Will be going to the shop next week to check it out again and look for a few things:
plays out and functions well
validate the wiring is not held together with duct tape
check the boards out for 3rd party repairs

The shop had just finished replacing the rubber. may I hand rub the play field to increase the luster?

And besides taking the balls out, legs off and folding...anything else I should do prior to putting in the back of my pathfinder?

Imagine the look on my kids face when they see this in the game room with a big bow on it Christmas morning!

Looks like a great deal. From the photos it looks like the H/K Ship has broken wings. A common problem. Easy to replace...get the one with the LED lights and reinforced bottom!
