I just got a new in box Willy Wonka today and opened it up. it is a great machine with only a few things that I'm concerned about.

If some of you experts can take a look at these pictures and tell me if these are real issues I would appreciate it.

The first issue I see is some nail or something near the left out lane. It's a black cover right above where we can add the additional left lane outpost.

The upper ball guard for the left loop plastic has a couple of cracks in it. One is around where the screw is tightened down, and the other is towards the back.

I'm really concerned about is the plastic in front of the most secret machine because it is not fully level with the wood there's a little bit of a lip there going up when you go towards the most secret machine.

The final issue is a minor one but it looks like somebody touched the ramp while it was still curing and caused it to have like a hazy not completely clear feel. I tried to clean it up a little bit and it just kind of persists a little bit ugly on a brand new machine for the ramp to already be cloudy like that.

Please look at the pictures below and let me know what you guys think thank you.

Rather than have other hunt and peck for possibly trivial flaws, it would be super helpful if you would use some sort of software tool that allows you to mark/circle the bits of interest.

That "black nail" looks more like a plastic cover to me that may pop off, but I have never seen that in a game... and after that I gave up when the next pic I could only see some small scratches on a plastic.

You may have some actual pinball problems, but I gave up there...

I'm pretty new to pinball and I am only a recent owner of a NIB machine as of last year.

That being said; if this were my machine I wouldnt accept it as is.

If that is brand new, it’s a real shame.

Quoted from judremy:

Normal - it's on all of the Wonka's. If you don't add the post to the hole below it, the ball will probably sometimes get stuck in the hole that the black cap is covering. Under the black cap is another location for you to put the extra post if you want. Most people just use the hole that is not covered.

As KingBW said, the black cap by the outlane is normal. It provides a second location for the optional post you received with the game. If you want to use the optional location, push the cap out by pushing a thin tool up though the hole from under the playfield.

For the secret machine issue, are you referring to the black part that turns? If so, there is an adjustment for it below the playfield to lower or raise it. Check out page C-34 of the manual. Loosen the lock nut (item 10 in the diagram) and adjust the height with the a adjustment screw (part 1 in the diagram) until it is flush with the PF. Then tighten the lock nut.

Contact JJP about getting a new ramp. I would not like to see that on my brand new machine either.

BC_Gambit Schwaggs I have done as asked and below are updated pics.

The issue in front of the secret machine is the large clear insert not level on the top side (farther up the playfield with the wood). It's like someone pushed the insert in a bit too far. My fear is that this will wear at the transition back to wood. I will try and see if I push that up a bit from the bottom, but not sure if that is wise.

The -07 plastic is cracked through in two spots. I'll tallk to my distributor about this.

I will reach out to my distributor on the ramp with the "jacked" spot. It's rough there too, like someone sanded it(?).

I still haven't turned on the machine as I plan to update it before playing at all and had to let it acclimate to the house temperature.

You really need to talk to your distributor before messing with that insert. It should be flush with the rest of the playfield.

Are you sure your not feeling the mylar edge by that insert? The edge of the mylar is exactly where your circle is drawn.
Not that u sld have to but the spot on the ramp cld be flame polished most likely and it wld fix it. However if u haven't ever did it I probably wldnt recommend it and just get a new ramp sent. Only issue is there's alot of stuff connected to that ramp that will need to be changed over. My ramp is not as clear at that same spot and I'll probably flame it when I shop my game out.

That's what I was just coming on here to say. It's the mylar for the "hot dog" insert. I was so relieved when I noticed that. I also updated from 1.26 to 1.31 to 1.33. Very happy with my purchase overall.
