Just a rant and a PSA - I ordered a new F350 truck March 14, 2022. It finally arrived on May 7, I picked it up on May 18 (I was out of town) and the price was $1100 higher than the day I ordered it. After some back and forth, I was told by Ford (not the dealer) that costs went up, and they had to pass them on. Further, if I did not want the truck, no problem, they could sell it to someone else before the end of the day. (Very likely, since two people came in wanting to buy the truck as I was signing papers.)

So, be aware, if you order a vehicle from Ford, don't be surprised if the price is higher on delivery day than on order day. They will tell you tough sh*t if you question it.

I hope karma bites them in the A*s.

    Rant completed.

I had a copy of the order telling them to build it, Emails from Ford verifying what I ordered, along with time line for when any changes to the order would be accepted, and notices when the modifications were closed, and when the truck began assembly, and when the truck was delivered to the dealer. Looking closer at the paperwork, the was not a countersigned document about the pricing. Lessen learned in case there's a next time.

Good laugh about reduced costs - you can pretty well bet that they would NOT have reduced the cost had their costs gone down.

The dealer told me a story that Transits are in such high demand that he sold all ten of his allotment to an out of state dealer for $5K apiece over invoice. He seemed quite proud of it. After that story, I told him I would resell my new truck now for $20K over what I paid. He said don't say that too loud, you may just be able to get it! Crazy!

Xtraball - I wish I was made aware of that. Last time I ordered a vehicle, the final price was the price quoted when ordered, although that was a long time ago.

Both of those buys were cash, no trade, not sure if that would have made a difference. I can see how hiding the increase by decreasing the trade in value would work, and the buyer would not know the difference. Like I said, I'll know better for next time, assuming there is a next time.

I guess you could call it whining - I never knew that the price could change between ordering and delivery and that you have no choice other than to pay it. My rant was a PSA - I figured if I didn't know about it, there are others out there the same way.

The dealership has so much turnover that I doubt the cookies would do me any good in the future. The salesman I ordered the truck from left - when I asked about him, the said he was "No longer with us". I said may he rest in peace - the Sales Manager tripped all over himself saying he didn't die, he just left the company. I guess I have a warped sense of humor - I found his fumbling amusing.
