    Quoted from ForceFlow:

Personally, I would avoid samsung. They use cheap components, which don't last very long. LG TVs seem to last a very long time.

I bought a 42" LCD LG about 3 years ago from costco. I now have a loose LED this past month giving me a hot spot smack dab in the middle. I've been burned by other LG products in the past, you'd think I'd learn my lesson. My current phone (galaxy s8), my last phone (galaxy s5), fridge, washer and dryer are all samsung, not a single issue. My fridge and washer/dryer are a good 16 years old too.

    Quoted from DaveH:

Rip it apart and fix that. The first time you do it is just like soldering in a pinball machine the first time. It is scary. But they are just devices. Lay down a moving blanket on a table, lay it screen down on that, and start unscrewing.
Now the reason I'm so caviler about it is that you will never be happy with the TV again like that. At that point, I consider it junk. So it will either end up being total junk, or you will fix it. Maybe a bit of two sided tape, and poof, no more hot spot where the light moved. And if you fix it, you will feel like a hero. It will be your favorite TV, because you will have done the repair.

considered it.. relative is giving me their old 42" so i guess i have nothing to lose. still ive watched youtube videos and it is a LOT of layers and screws.
