Hi, I'm new here.
Backstory,
Growing up my dad had comet and high speed in the 90s in our basement and I spent hours and days playing them.
Now, fir xmas, I am turning a spare room into an arcade for my kids. Foosball, basketball, couple of flat screen tvs and most importantly a pinball machine!

I found a comet for sale by owner 2.5 hours away from my house for 3,000.

He said it has been fully restored including a new ramp and I will never find a better condition comet.

I'm willing to spend extra for nostalgia, but I dont want to get ripped off and dont necessarily need those titles. Something 2k to 3k.

Should I get it, or look for something else? I'm having a hard time finding anything else...

I live in north east PA.

Any advice?

Thanks

Found an f14 tomcat for 1800 2.5 hours away.
And a high speed supposedly won awards at a show. Candy apple red legs 45 min away
3000. He also has a special addition Fire for 3k. Seems like a great guy. Hes been on the local news in a good way.

I'm going to look at the F14 tomorrow and hopefully purchase

Well I bought it.
1650
It's a little rough.
There is a play field protector on it, its pulling up in spots.
The light inserts are a little raised in spots.
I tested all the buttons and spinners and stuff.
The spinners were not working.
The seller sanded the contacts underneath and all is good now.
There is some corrosion on the back of the bulb sockets for the back glass bulbs. Figured it was normal for a 30 year old machine.
The white resistors look a little funny.
It plays for now. I will work on it over time and come back here for advice.
It's sitting in my truck, gotta get some guys over to get it up stairs.
Kids are gonna love it.

Quoted from wayout440:

Doesn't look it....however the inserts may be raised looking at the edges of the mylar. Hard to tell from the pics. You really have to run a finger over it.

Is there a difference between mylar and play field protector?
Are they easily replaceable?

I got it upstaris.
Going to wait for it to get to room temp before I turn it on.
Hope it transported ok.
I'm excited.
I've been dreaming about this ever since it became a reality.
