I know there are a lot of topics about vehicles for moving Pinball machines. Some of them are useful others are not. I am hoping this one becomes useful.

What I am looking for is a new 2015/2016 SUV for moving pinball machines. I have looked at some of the jeeps (Cherokee, Compass Patriot) but the hatch on a few aren't large enough to get a DMD pin into the back with the head on. The Grand Cherokee is large enough but is also more expensive than I was hoping to spend.

I am hoping we can put together a 'verified' list of SUVs that can move a DMD pin with the head on, folded down. I think since SUVs change in body style over the years that it is important that we list 'verified' vehicles by: Year, Make, Model IE (2015, Jeep, Grand Cherokee)

    #2 8 years ago

2002 chevy suburban... With the rear seat removed you can get one pin in. With the second row down, you might be able to get two in, but I haven't tried it.

    #3 8 years ago

2002 Honda CRV with rear seat folded up. I hauled Williams DMD's, Williams DMD widebodies, new Sterns, classic Stern widebodies, and even a huge William's Slugfest with the head removed. It's the perfect pin hauler that can carry one pinball machine, one driver, and one passenger.

2004 jeep grand Cherokee limited. Data east, B/W, stern games perfect. gottlieb no go, head to tall

    #5 8 years ago

    Dodge Durango....all years.

    #6 8 years ago

2012 and 2014 Ford Escape hauled all my DMDs

    #7 8 years ago

2014 Toyota Highlander works great for me.

    #8 8 years ago

2005 Mercedes Benz ML-350 perfect for me!

    #9 8 years ago

Guys, he said a 2015/2016 SUV.

    2015 Ford Explorer. VERIFIED!

    #10 8 years ago

I used to put all of my games in my various SUV's...the potential for damage to the truck or the game wasnt worth it. I use my 4x8 trailer now to haul all of my games.

    #11 8 years ago

    Any 2015 or 2016 GM Lambda chassis crossover will fit a DMD pin. They are;

    Buick Enclave
    Chevy Traverse
    GMC Acadia

The GMC will even fit a NIB Stern.

    Later,
    EV

2006 honda element.. I have the money for a new car but I love this ugly little box. It moves games like a champ and they slide in and out with ease. I think I will just drive it till it blows up.

    #13 8 years ago

2008 Ford Expedition. 89000 miles rolling strong. It not only hauls pins, it's big enough to haul a trailer full of them.

So I would assume a 2015 would too.

    #14 8 years ago

2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited fits a game well, but you have to lift the end of the game a little to slide over the folded rear seats when putting it in.

    #15 8 years ago

    Loving my Nissan NV200.

    #16 8 years ago
    Quoted from pinaholic:

    Loving my Nissan NV200.

The NV line. You could fit 10 in there no problem. I used to work for nissan

    #17 8 years ago

Nissan 2005-2015 Xterra will haul a pin in the back. You can actually get an NIB stern in there as well.

    Quoted from Allibaster:

2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited fits a game well, but you have to lift the end of the game a little to slide over the folded rear seats when putting it in.

Then you need another truck to tow the Jeep home.

Looks like I am getting closer to buying a new SUV. I wanted to regenerate (Doctor Joke) this thread. I am looking at getting a 2014 - 2016 vehicle. Anyone want to add to the list?

Here is what we have so far:
    2002 Chevy Suburban
    2002 Honda CRV
    2004 jeep grand Cherokee limited
    Dodge Durango - All years
    2012 and 2014 Ford Escape
    2014 Toyota Highlander
    2005 Mercedes Benz ML-350
    2015 Ford Explorer
    2008 Ford Expedition
    2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
    Nissan NV200
    Nissan 2005-2015 Xterra

Help me out (and other pinsiders out) as we all know the most important part about a new vehicle isn't if it can get you from one place to another.... its about if it can get your pin home.

I have a 2014 Ford Explorer and love it. Fits everything but a NiB & Banzai Run (or so I'm told). I've moved widebodies and all in it and love it as my daily driver.

    #21 8 years ago

    2016 Ford Explorer

    #22 8 years ago

Toyota 4Runner, I made up a 3' wide x 6'~, 3/4" thick particle board that I lay in there, with that, and a moving blanket has worked great for quite a few pins.

    #23 8 years ago

I have a 06 4runner fits a pin so easily and you can keep one seat up so you have a pin and one person in the back

    #24 8 years ago

Can never go wrong with Toyota. 97 4 runner ,running strong.

2015 suburban can fit a pin with all seats up except the rear 60 seat in the 60/40 configuration. Makes it nice to be able to haul a pin and 5 passengers (includes driver).

    Panther,

    can't recommend more highly the GM Lambda full size SUV's. These are;

    Chevy Traverse
    GMC Acadia
    Buick Enclave
    Saturn Outlook

We have an '09 Outlook, and absolutely adore it. It'll fit any DMD pin no problem. Heck, we even once transported an RCT from Ohio to MI with both kids still able to sit in the 40% side of the 2nd and 3rd row seats. If you go with an Outlook or an Acadia, the straighter roofline will even accomodate a NIB Stern.

    Good luck!

No I'm asking if it'll fit a pin.

I'd be interested to know if anyone uses as late model Santa Fe as their pin hauler. I drive an 06 Santa Fe which has given me zero problems in the 10 years I've owned it and am looking at possibly replacing it next spring. The 06 easily fits a folded pin but I know they've changed the design of them somewhat over the past few years. Curious if one will still fit??

    Astropin,

Will the Liberty fit a DMD pin? I took a tape to it and it seemed like it was an inch too short?

For the Wrangler Also are you planning on putting the DMD pin in with the top off?

4 door wrangler should fit all pins without any modifying of the pin or roof. They can fit a nib pin in the cardboard.....or so I've seen a pic...it was crazy.

I'm pissed that I missed out on a $1900 4 runner. Had 237k miles, but damn it would have saved me $1900 in uhaul pretty easily

    #45 8 years ago

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Toyota RAV4. I have a 2012 that I just picked up a few months back. I've hauled NIB, DMD and even a Gottlieb Strikes N Spares with ease. It has 36" clearance at the tailgate and nearly fold flat seats. With the V6 you've got 3500lb towing capacity. The 4 cylinder is the same dimensions as well. They changed the body style in 2013 but I'm pretty sure they'll fit in there too.

I did check out the newer style CRV when I was looking and they would fit a DMD pin. I brought an empty box along and it fit (barely) so just the machine would have worked.
