Mustang seems to be considered by many on Pinside as a "dud". Which is too bad as the only thing it suffers from is an unpopular theme.
A great game nonetheless and one of Stern's most fun for those that give it a chance.

Quoted from Yelobird:Hands down for me Batman 66 was a total dud at release and Many months after that but Now is by far my and my families favor title. A masterpiece with code to match the art in my view.
Batman 66's code has certainly come a LONG way from initial "dud" status. While its colorful art and your excellent mods add a lot to the game as well, I don't know that it will ever truly reach "great" status for me due to its simplistic (and somewhat clunky) playfield layout.
Quoted from Mrawesome44:Theme ain’t the problem. Game isn’t fun and the playfield is a straight nascar ripoff. Had stern put effort into the way bally did corvette it could have been amazing
Not sure where you're coming from in that the playfield is a ripoff of NASCAR's.
How familiar are you with the rules? Have you played a Premium/LE with additional features (including POWER SHIFTS)?

Every game has its haters, but I know for a fact that many pinheads have never gotten past Mustang's theme and/or have bought into the misconception that it's a crappy game. Personally speaking, I've played every modern Stern game and Mustang ranks up there with the top ones for fun gameplay in my book. WAY underrated on Pinside.
Quoted from Mrawesome44:Mustang has earned the reputation it has. Plain and simple
Hardly. I don't know how anyone who has actually taken the time to familiarize themselves with Mustang's rules (ruleset accessible per link in my prior post) and experienced its full gameplay features, can agree with that statement.
Smacks of DT logic.
Quoted from iceman44:So what does BM66 have? ...
Layout is simplistic ...
Got that right!
Quoted from MK6PIN:Cold partial quote ...Tuna.......all good....I kinda knew this thread would drift around this pin, hopefully Op was sincere with his inquiry.
No desire on my end to debate on this one anymore...I think BM66 fits Op's request perfectly, and will leave it at that....
Meant no harm or misrepresentation - thus the elipsis and the smiley face.
I'm kind of torn on BM66. The theme hits home for me as I recall eagerly watching the show as a kid when it was originally on ABC in primetime. As such, the artwork and video clips are great. The game's less than compelling playfield layout and ridiculous cost are negatives for me though.
Quoted from MK6PIN:You're not (and right, btw). Most of the "majority" like/ love it w new code, and still not done yet. They just stay quiet in these type of threads....
the title matches the Ops request to a tee.....zero to hero on this one....is what it is......
I truly hope to join you guys someday in proclaiming BM66 a great game. Just not there yet.
MK6PIN - I am curious as to how great you currently consider it. You have a quality collection. Where would you rank BM66 among your games?
Quoted from MK6PIN:I completely agree w this......
+1
And so many collectors running out of space is a testament to how many great games there truly are.
