This area isn't just a problem on new Sterns.

I've worked with both Cliff and Kerry on protectors in the past. I've mentioned the main drain problem area to them based on a few B/W titles I have witnessed the problem on B/W games (see pics: CV & ToM).

If I recall the previous conversation with Cliff, it is that there are a multitude of different drains -- not just one for B/W and one for Stern. That would require many different protectors to be made, at most a unique one for each title, at best less.

Thinking that this solution would best be solved by a Mantis-style protector, I emailed Kerry. I've forwarded him some pictures of examples of this wear and told him I'd try to round up some more pictures from pinside.

If you can upload a photo of your trough drain area damage, maybe we can get a product built to mitigate it.
