Yeah, basically it's just a VERY LIGHTLY rethemed Heavy Metal machine in a standard Spike2 cab with a full sized color screen instead of dmd.

I'll take a shot.
If the parties involved are really hinting at $9k for these retail and the buy-in is 100 games, that's $900k retail. Figure 40% off retail is their cost, and you're around $540k for 100 machines ($5,400 each) paid to Stern. Stern can bang that out in a little more than 1 day with their current throughput. If you count set up and teardown on the line for the run, you're looking at small part of one week to fulfill this.
In that scenario, they're basically paying Stern a bit more than retail on a Jurassic Park home edition and pre-paying for 100 of them. The $9k hinted-at price is $1k more than the Heavy Metal pin this is a reskin of that was announced in 2020, which sounds about right given pandemic inflation.
