If you're into video arcade games, I listed three project games over in the show FS thread that will appear in the flea market.

Tetris, Millipede and Super Off Road. All popular titles

Yep, Early 60s EMs up through every decade to modern games released this year. Something for everyone!

This gives me a great idea...

    #203 6 years ago
    Quoted from ForceFlow:

    Additional raffle prizes:
Pabst Can Crusher foam insulated can holder

Ok the chance of winning a foam insulated cup holder for hauling 2 games over 3 hours each way has pushed me over the edge. I just registered 2 games and also bought a $30 flea market table so I can get rid of some of my old junk. Looking forward to a great show.

Bringing my Fire! to the show - It's also For Sale - see Pinside Marketplace.

I sincerely am happy about this show. I am originally from Albany NY and have been watching this thread from afar. I hope it is amazing and I am happy for all of you upstate NY pinball fans. Have a great time and I hope to see you all next year at the same show!

    #206 6 years ago

Holy pinball show, batman--it sure got busy this evening!

Four additional games have been registered!

Three flea market spaces have also been registered!

    This is looking good, folks!

    Adam,

I think we all knew it was going to work out OK for you in the end but some of these guys just wanted to add a little stress to your life for some reason? Anyway - my post earlier set a goal of 30 machines before midnight so we still have one more to go!

One quick suggestion is if you do end up having a little unused space --- set up 3 or 4 groups of chairs (maybe rings of 5 or 6 chairs in a couple areas) so some of the guys that will be their all day have a place to hang out and talk when they are taking a break from playing machines or helping out. With larger shows there is always plenty to do but with a smaller show a nice place to sit and talk might be something different some of the guys will enjoy.

Anyway - keep up the great work & hopefully I'll be able to make it next year!

Yep, already in the works--I made sure there were plenty of chairs and tables for doing that earlier today.

So, the total right now sits at 29 games and 7 registered flea market spaces. All three 20x20 spaces have been reserved, but there are still some 10x6 spaces remaining, which can be combined at a discount if someone needs more space than that.

Part of me wants to see all the machines lined up by manufacture date...

Probably not the best idea, but

Probably not the best idea, but

Yeah, it would be neat to see them lined up like that--it just wouldn't be practical from a logistic standpoint with people coming at all different times and with not everyone registering beforehand.

So far, the weather looks clear on Friday for setup, and most of Saturday. It looks like the morning is clear, but there may be thunderstorms from around 1-4pm, and then clear up after that. Sunday looks all clear.

    Quoted from zacaj:

Probably not the best idea, but

Mixed up always seems to be best. Otherwise newer (more popular) machine area would be super crowded and EM area would end up quiet & 1/2 empty. A few years back we were out in Vegas at PHOF and EM / wedgehead area was always fairly empty. That made me happy because I could walk right up to pretty much any machine and play. But areas with lots of the newer machines tended to have people waiting to play & blocking machines I wanted to play next to the machines they were waiting to play.

If you think about it shows end up the same way when there are 4 or 5 popular titles together (log jam). The other thing is people bringing more than one machine tend to like to keep their machines together.

So bottom line "all mixed up" just seems to work out best all the way around at shows.

At least you are doing better that Rich at the York Show. Since he took that show over (about 5 years ago) he has NEVER had a day without rain as far as I can remember. And the first year the rain was insane - localized flooring all over!

    #214 6 years ago

I think the best part is seeing the community aspect of a community kick-in on this one. Every person that's registered a game or brings one along is helping to prove something with this show. It's like the extreme underdog scenario and I think that's a pretty cool thing to be a part of no matter what part you're playing in it all -- donating to the cause, volunteering your time, bringing a game or even just attending it and hanging out. Creating something out of nothing. It also shows something like this can happen elsewhere too with the right kind of support from the community. It's been cool seeing it unfold. Nice job all!

30 games was the magic number in my eyes. That's the tipping point. Now it's looking like a show! I'd not be surprised if you hit 40-50 games total when it's all said and done. Heck, FILL THE SHOW! There's enough games registered now that anyone bringing one will have plenty to play & people to talk to. Great way to meet others in the hobby too if you've never attended a show before.

    #215 6 years ago

Unfortunately, it looks like two games will not be coming due to a family emergency.

    The count is at 27.

    #216 6 years ago

Looking good - got a great serious mix of all different generations of pinball machines!

    #217 6 years ago

Can't wait to try out Star Wars!

Best Wishes for your Show and Sanity, Adam!

Still hoping to split a flea market table with someone if anyone wants to let me try and sell a couple of backglasses.

I am sure Adam will work with you if you PM him directly. Something on a table is better than empty space so maybe talk to him and see if you can either just give him a few dollars for using part of a table or kick him a few dollars if your backglasses sell. But I wouldn't leave them home thinking you have to rent a full space when Adam has empty tables at this point. Just sayin' it It never hurts to ask!

    #222 6 years ago

Another game has been added to free play.

    #223 6 years ago

Two more games added for free play.

    We've hit 30!

Just a reminder: setup on Friday is from 7PM to 10PM.

Getting close to set up time for the show - so I am sure Adam is their already but to anyone "on the fence" about taking a machine to the show tonight (or tomorrow morning) PLEASE help support the show and get your machine (or machines) to the show.

Also - if you are headed to the show & have parts to sell -- last time I talked to Adam he had a few small flea market spaces remaining. Why not show your support & rent a $30 table to sell off your excess stuff. As small as the show is I doubt you would have to stay by the table much of the time - just watch it from around the hall or take turns with your neighbor watching two spaces.

This show needs to work & do well to encourage other people to do the same thing in their area!

Latest weather looks OK until after about 9 PM (or later) so moving machines in tonight should work out OK after all. And then some rain overnight and clearing in the AM before show starts. NICE!!!

    #231 6 years ago

    All ready to go!

Picking up a trailer at 7am, back home to load the machine up, then up the north way to Saratoga!

    #233 6 years ago

Adam - if you are still alive after what I assume had to be a busy day for you please give everyone an update!

    #234 6 years ago

Just a thought... wear your Pinside badges tomorrow. I'll have mine on, so I'll be easy to spot.

    #235 6 years ago

Show is moving along great - just got home from setup - Dialed In, Stern Star Wars and many others all set up!
Probably half or more of the machines were set up tonight and the rest coming in the morning on Saturday.

Flea market spaces actually have more stuff than Pintastic did this year. Looks like at least a half dozen EM's in the Flea Market, lots of parts, video games & more!

It has turned out that it will be a great show - If you are on the fence make the drive!

    See you Saturday!

    #236 6 years ago

Everything seems to have been coming together nicely for the show.

A nice selection of games showed up Friday evening--we really ended up with some good titles, thanks to all the collectors and operators who brought in games. On top of that, there is going to be quite a lot of stuff in the flea market--each space was pretty well packed.

I'd like to put out a big thank you to the volunteers who helped out this evening and stayed later than what they were scheduled for. They were a huge help with getting things set up, moved around, and directing incoming games and flea market stuff.

There was only big hiccup so far--something went wrong with the room measurements, so unfortunately, we had to cut out a row of six 10x6 flea market spaces.

So as it stands right now, there are only two empty 10x6 spaces available. So, if you want one, you'd better snap it up quick.

Sounds like you actually really lucked out by not selling out flea market spaces. Had all of them been full you would have had a much bigger problem! Cutting out a row of unused spaces is really no big deal - but if you had all the spaces rented moving stuff around to make everything fit could have been a real PITA.

Love the building with the balcony - as long as people are allowed up their it will be neat to be able to go upstairs and look down over the show. Glad you are off to a GREAT START - wish I could have made the trip north instead of having to head west in a couple hours!

Yep, if they were full I could have rearranged things somewhat, but it wasn't critical to do so.

    Adam,

I'll be away until next weekend - PM when you have a chance, after the show, and fill me in on what you learned doing a smaller local show. This is an idea I think should be expanded to lots of areas - smaller local shows - but I want to hear about your experiences with it just to see if it is practical.

Years ago I was very heavy into the train hobby (Lionel Trains) and pretty much every weekend there was at least one show within a 4 or 5 hour drive. Right down to monthly shows at some local Fire Halls. I don't think that model would work with pinball but I don't see any reason 25 to 50 "smaller local shows" a year couldn't work out if people were willing to step up and run one in their area.

I am too old to get involved with something like that and we already have York & Allentown fairly close anyway but I know there are lots of areas in the US (or even around the world) that have no shows close by and the smaller localized shows just seem to make a lot of sense.

Wishing everyone at this show, a great Saturday in Saratoga!

Maybe everyone buy Adam a drink, and see what hes up to at 2 AM!

At the show, in spirit! Enjoy!
