Yes.... it played great. Lots of fun.

I contributed to that number for sure. Thanks for bringing it, really nice table
Quoted from chuckwurt:Before and after on stranger things! 408 plays over essentially two days is pretty solid! (Thursday was really slow).
Also happy to report my beer seal works as intended. Haha.

It was a blast - I don't miss the playfield screen at all... everything was perfect on the machine when I played - with the exception of some stuck balls but this was #1 built, a prototype I think.
at some point the flipper mech broke (pawl or something that was not easily replaced) and it was put away after that.
If you put money down on this game... don't worry, you will love it.
Quoted from joetechbob:Anyone get some time on Alien?
Yep. It was fun. Just like I remember it. Don’t ever remember seeing the xeno head do anything though. Still not sure why everyone but stern insists on using flippers with the power turned way down.
The cabinet and backglass (or back plastic as we called it) were disappointing though. But maybe that stuff wasn’t final yet. Not sure.
Great show you guys!!
My son and I just started in this hobby and this was our first show.
We talked to a lot of people and made some new friends. We ended up talking to some of the crew from TNT and they dropped some serious knowledge on us.
We want to thank everyone for all the hard work that went into presenting this fun and safe show.
Quoted from joetechbob:Anyone get some time on Alien?
I was able to get in about 4-5 games on it at various points during the show.
Fun game, really liked the theme integration with both the first 2 movies and being able to choose which one at the start.
I was able to get the xeno to grab the ball for a lock. Cool feature! The ramps were super smooth, especially the right one.
Only issues that I came across were during one game alot of the switches stopped responding and they had to get inside to reseat some things and reboot it.
And there was a few times that the ball would not eject out of the trough all the way into the shooter lane and had to be nudged over.
Other than that was a fun machine. Although.... the cabinet art was kinda ehh. Seeing it in person did not help it much.
Quoted from 29REO:P.S. terrapinmark Your Split Second is sweet. New respect for Split Second.
Glad you enjoyed it. Next year I will bring an even rarer Classic Stern Star Gazer. Restored by one of the shows directors (Keith)
Quoted from dannunz:Nice job guys the first show is always the hardest. First Pintastic almost killed me lol.
Well...it sure took out the other guy...
Quoted from Skypilot:And if I miss somebody in this thank you my apologies
Well you missed mentioning Dad. He has done a lot for pinball!

I was so sad that dad couldn't make it also.. hopefully next year!!
It was a great show, the only pin that should have been there was 'Octoberfest' for obvious reasons.
Other than that one I think every great machine ever made was there with no lines or waiting.
Beer garden had a wonderful selection, food was tops for all the shows I have been to.
Defiantly a show I will not miss in the future.
Quoted from grantopia:Not planning to, but to imply we (especially this train wreck of a state) are anywhere near "post-covid" is insane. Regardless what you choose not to believe or ignore, we are very much "in covid" still.

I am pretty sure I SAW YOU at the Pinbrew show. So what changed for you?

You may have! Although I don't know what you look like so i didn't see you! The short version is I unexpectedly was able to get my vaccine a while ago and was over two weeks out from my second shot by the show so I feel good about getting back to things again.
All the talk from grantopia in this thread had me thinking about the timing and saftey of the first show. Grantopia brought up a lot of good points for the show being too early in this pandemic. Then after all the negative talk Grantopia shows up at the show. This makes everything they wrote not worth the time to write or read. Say one thing. Tell others all the reasons not to go to this show. I am sure taking away customers from Pinbrew that were on the fence about going and then going to the show. WOW

Well if you want to read into it that way, I'm not sure what to tell you. Had I not been fully vaccinated and over two weeks out from my second one, I would not have gone. I did some volunteer work at East Technical High as part of the CMSD vaccination program and was able to receive my first shot in February and my second in March. My wife works in healthcare and has been vaccinated since the end of 2020, so those were two factors in my decision.
As far as "taking customers away", anyone that wasn't fully vaccinated and attending the show was taking a risk (that I wouldn't take), and I would still not have recommended they attend. Clearly that didn't resonate much with the people in this thread anyway.
I'm not going to spend pages nit picking the show because I don't need to start a whole argument about it, but overall it was pretty well run, but was disappointed in the lack of adherence to masks and social distancing by many of the vendors and breweries. I expected that is what would happen anyway though, hence my reasons for not attending in the first place if I wasn't vaccinated. The show attendees seemed to be pretty respectful of the guidelines, but of course relaxed as the night went on.
Had I not been vaccinated I would not have felt comfortable there, but clearly I'm the outlier here anyways and still think ANY event like this, not just pinball, is not a good idea until the vaccination rate is much higher for the health and well being of the public.

The thing that’s shitty about it is you preached about how it’s a terrible idea
Had no problem posting your opinions about the timing and laying down this undertone of guilt for anyone planning on going using your wife’s work as justification and defending your stance anytime someone disagreed
Then you went to the show.....but had a change in heart about what you felt was worthy of posting in the same thread and kept it silent on the thread until someone said they saw you.

I'm not sure what's unclear or you think has changed. I don't know how may ways I can say I personally don't think having a show was a good idea. Also don't know why you (who doesn't know me) think I owe you (who I don't know) updates on my life because someone (who I also don't know) saw me at the show. If my stance is unclear feel free to reread what I wrote but my feelings on the safety of this haven't changed.
Quoted from grantopia:Also don't know why you (who doesn't know me) think I owe you (who I don't know) updates on my life because someone (who I also don't know) saw me at the show.
Don’t try to take the easy route and turn this into a me vs you thing and try telling me what I’m thinking or expecting to be owed
You’re the one giving out unsolicited updates on your opinions of safety, family’s exposure and line of work, and volunteer work and shot schedule for us to respond to
I’m glad you went to the show (from an attendance equals success point of view), I was unknowingly in the same room as you playing the same pins man. The show needed people to be successful, but to Buckaroo’s point it was extremely hypocritical and there’s an element of fragility on the success of the show based on people going that you pretty much led the way on describing why to NOT GO
Then showed up. I’m just trying to follow along.

I mean, you are posting about me, so I'm not turning anything into me and you, you did that. I don't have all day to argue so I'll try to summarize: large public gatherings = bad idea. Being vaccinated = greatly minimized risk. Attending a large public event of any kind unvaccinated = bad idea.
If you want to discuss more pm me and we can chat when I have time.

Lets make sure it happens. First round of pierogies for you and dad will be on me!
Find me one person that legit decided not to go because of a pinside posting...
I had company that weekend or I probably would have went. DeWine opening vaccines to everyone a few weeks before the show was a pretty late (and positive) development that changed the calculus for some attendees. Y'all are just looking to complain about something now.
gRaNt0Pia what a hypocrite you are. YOu did nothing but rag on the show told people it was a bad idea for the show to be held and then you go to it what a joke.. I guess my family cheated death then I went there with my daughter and wife spent two days there had a great time and we are unvaccinated had on masks it's proven lockdowns don't work look at Florida and then look at New York you must be a discipline of slouchy fauci.

Yeah see, you're the exact type of covid denier/conspiracy theorist I was worried about attending if I wasn't fully vaccinated. I appreciate you trying to prove my point for me.

What exactly about the pandemic/sars-cov-2 did he deny? What conspiracy theory did he spout?
On topic: that article was great! painted a great picture and makes me sad it isn't going on again this weekend... though the weather was much better.
Let’s throw a positive spin back on the show. Thank you to all the people that brought Pinball machines.
Quoted from Skypilot:Thank you to all the people that brought Pinball machines.
My pleasure. I had several very nice comments on the Split Second that I brought. Next year I will bring one of the following (each is completely restored) Star Gazer, Nine Ball or Quicksilver. In other news, I enjoyed the beer selection. The two "Sours" that I had were expertly crafted. And lower ABV. I wanted to try the Hazy Double IPA but it was a little high on the ABV (9%) for me.
Please tell the guys at Mad Cap and Birdfish that their beers are excellent!!!

I did not get a chance to mention that we went through a lot of great beer from some great breweries in Northeast Ohio, thank you to all of them. We poured 1700 pints over the three days.

Off topic: I can't tell if this is a serious question. The sarcastic "cheating death" comment, which I'm sure is hilarious to all the people that know someone that has died? The "lockdowns don't work" comment when the US has never actually locked down, and the countries that have are back living a normal life? The "fauci discipline" comment, which grammatical concerns aside, implies that the nations (and likely worlds expert) on this and many other diseases is not to be trusted? Aside from those, nothing, I guess.
On topic: very much looking forward to the next show and not having to worry or argue about any of this shit and just play some games and have a drama free beer.
Can I ask a question? What made the Big Lebowski game win best in show? I'm just curious. Anyone care to comment?

The game came from a private collection and plays flawlessly. Everyone commented to us on how much they enjoyed it Owner was there and kept it clean the entire time. Seemed like the natural choice.
Quoted from Dayhuff:What made the Big Lebowski game win best in show?
I'll second that it was a beautiful game and I probably put more plays on it than any other game at the show. Split Second was a close second.
I'm cheap when it comes to buying pins but I enjoyed TBL enough that I'm considering selling five of my 3K games to buy one. . .
Once more I'd like to thank Keith and Marvin for putting on a good show -- I was wishing that this week was last week so I could experience it all over again!

I also wondered why it won. In my opinion, I thought that there were several games that would have been better choices. Its one thing to open a game and share it (dont get me wrong, it was a very generous thing the owner did) but when games like the Party Zone that was there. That thing looked great and was the winner in my eyes. Id rather see something that someone put love into, second was Mark's split second

My thoughts exactly. I too am not putting the owner down but to pull a game out of the box basically and call it best in show doesn't seem fair to all the others that put the time and effort into a full blown restoration. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this.
John
Finally drama about pinball and NOT Rona !

Can keep 'best game' and add 'best restore' categories to next show's awards.. maybe break down into best modern/ss/em restore if lots of games are brought.
The simple act of bringing a rare game for people to enjoy should be recognized.
I've won show awards for both... a bone-stock BBB that people enjoyed playing, and a tricked-out SST with sound system, added lights and other improvements that played great. Nothing wrong with acknowledging both types of contributions.
Quoted from metallik:maybe break down into best modern/ss/em restore if lots of games are brought.
Question. In your opinion what year/games start the "modern" era? I get a little confused with that term. For example are Xenon and High speed both considered a SS game in terms of show category?
Yeah in the past I'd have said modern is DMD onward, but we've had almost 10 years of LCDs now, so maybe they get their own era? And yes I'd drop HS and Xenon in the same bucket... they're not that different in terms of features. DMD games started mode-based gameplay and added wizard modes, differentiating them from the earlier games.
Any thoughts on changing the show hours to possibly 3 to 10 Thursday and 10 to 10 Friday I went Thursday and stayed overnight but didn't want to wait til noon Friday and play 3-4hrs and then drive 4hrs home and at my advanced age don't stay up past 10 anymore lol would also like to add it was a great show thanks for not cancelling this year

We are looking at all aspects of the show. Apparently awards needs discussed lol. Fridays hours were 11 am 10 am for VIP's. I am sure Marvin and I will sit down in coming weeks and discuss some changes that need to take place. Thank you for the input. We wish to tweak things as the show goes on.
Great show, had a blast on Thursday, and played pinball for 5 or 6 hours with my mask on and not a worry in the world, it cracks me up the guy that was lobbying for you guys to not have the show actually comes to the show, lol.
