I have a very nice condition Gottlieb Star Race I would be open to trading.

Bally Spectrum, Bally Beat the Clock, and Gottlieb Alien Star are at the top of my wants but I may be open to other deals involving games on my wishlist.

    Quoted from DaveH:

Hi Show Attenders. My sister died a couple days ago. I think it might be against the rules of Pinside for me to say the cause of her death here. So if you would like to know what happened, I wrote about it in "The official Coronavirus containment thread".
I stopped by here to say that, because I have grave concerns about gatherings right now. I'll also say that I'm totally fine when you snap to downvote this. I also just learned that I will not be able to report this post to the moderators myself, so absolutely feel free to do that for me. I understand I'm breaking the rules just by coming in here and saying it. I'm totally fine with the thread eject it will earn me, and probably a little forced vacation from Pinside.
And to the unlucky moderator who gets the report for this post, sorry. But you should moderate me and thread eject me so everyone knows it's not ok to knowingly break the rules. I'll console myself knowing that if one person stays safer by lowering their risks, it's worth it.

Well, thanks to DaveH's post, I'm going to skip attending the show. Hotel cancelled. I'll go to a Tribal casino in Michigan as they have been declared safe by the respective tribes since November when they defied the orders to close back up. Plenty of Bally and WMS machines to play....

Sorry show promoters Keith, Marvin (and Mike?) that I won't be supporting the show with my admission dollars and vendor purchases. Hopefully DaveH is happy with this.

    You forgot your sign

The virus is on a slight upswing. The end is nearing as vaccinations continue to be administered but it ain't over yet. Go to the show if you want, but stay safe. Sanitize, masks, etc and have fun.

I can confirm that we will have playfield glass both standard and widebody for sale at the show at reasonable pricing. I’ll follow up with pricing when I get the invoice.

    #509 3 years ago

Anybody got a nice original Black Knight playfield or backglass they want to sell at the show? I'd prefer the playfield to be populated.

    Thanks,
    John

Also looking for a Wagon Train backglass, new or used.

    Quoted from nitrojcrawf:

Since the announcement of this show Dave is all over the COVID thing.

Actually, I have specifically NOT been all over this COVID thing since the show was announced. I posted exactly once in this thread, saying I thought it was a dumb idea to gather at a pinball event. And although I have had plenty of opportunity to comment more, I did not. It is absolutely your right to go out and gather with other pinballers and play at a show. Go out to eat, have a grand old time. I still believe it is absolutely stupid, but sure, have at it.

The reason I wrote after my sister died of COVID is because we don't know where she got it. She had a foot injury that unfortunately required surgery, and she started showing symptoms a few days later at home. So somewhere in her travels, be it the ambulance, the hospital, the ride home, or one of her friends helping her at home after, she caught COVID and DIED. It chewed her up and spat her out. And the thing that pisses me off is that people don't seem to understand how easily it spreads. You can be around someone that looks perfectly healthy who is shedding the virus. THAT is the screwed up thing about this, someone can look perfectly healthy, and you breathing in the air around them can give it to you. It is a virus, and unsurprisingly, that is how viruses work.

And I guess you're right, right now I am "all over this COVID thing" now. As Boob said (and yes, Randy knows me), nobody wants to go to shows more than I do right now. I can't wait for my league to start again. I can't wait to go to friends houses and drink, pizza, and pinball all night long. And if you're vaccinated, you're darn right you should go. It's a long trip, but if I was vaccinated, I'd even think about making the journey, because pinball and beer are the best. But if you're not vaccinated, it's dumb. And if you have a family, it's even dumber.

And that comes down to my entire point being, the risks are all known. There is no mystery here. We all understand how COVID spreads. It's your choice how you deal with those risks. And fortunately, the odds are in your favor. Most people that catch it seem to have a mild flu. But some subset of that wind up in the hospital. And a subset of that end up on a ventilator. And a subset of those.... die. You know that, and now that two people very close to me have died of COVID, I know that, very clearly.

Sorry to be so preachy, but telling me I've been all over this COVID thing since the show was announced kind of irritates me. I don't want anyone else to catch this. If I met you at a show I'd probably buy you a beer and kick your ass at whatever game you chose at the show, or get mine kicked and laugh about the fun we had. But this is deadly serious stuff, and I know that firsthand. I also know that my opinion and thoughts won't change a thing.

DaveH, i'm with ya brother. and i am sorry about your sister.

just from a financial point of view i don't think having a show now is a good idea. it just seems risky when a large percentage of your customer base won't attend. but whatever. i didn't really want to get into the health aspect of it, but you did fully cover the details very well. i commend you for that. personally i would never have a show right now. what if one of your patrons or staff got sick? how would that make you feel?? it seems incredibly irresponsible.

Originally the Ann Arbor/VFW show would be first weekend in May. We have moved it later (though the exact date is unknown at this point, but probably first weekend in October.) This gives everyone the opportunity to get vaccinated. Also we will be doing something else... we will *require* proof of vaccination to attend our show. Not vaccinated (or can't prove it), don't buy a ticket, because you will *not* get in. I'm not putting our staff at risk, and i'm not putting other patrons at risk, because you could not pull off a vaccination.

Also we are at 100% vaccinated with our VFW staff. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT as of *RIGHT NOW* (at least one shot.) Those that refused, or that didn't have a plan for a vaccination (at work, etc.), were shown the door, and can not come back into the group. We set up all the people in our VFW group with vaccination appointments (that could not get it on their own.) We even got some of their wives and mothers appointments.

I don't think anyone should take this virus lightly.

Is there anything on the PinBrew site, FB, or here about what the actual safety protocols at the show are going to be? Masks required (will this actually be enforced)?, distance between games? sanitizer available? There is lots of discussion about things for sale, food, and beer, but none of the actual concerns people have seem to be addressed. I see alot of talk about "following CDC guidance", but all the guidance goes in direct contrast to the show occurring at all, especially with indoor food and beer. What safety measures are going to be in place and how will they be enforced?

Thanks, genuinely appreciate this. In all seriousness it might be worth highlighting this stuff on your page, etc. for people like myself who are on the fence about shows this early. I'm probably overly vocal (and annoying), but I assume I'm not the only one wondering what the climate at the show will be like.

Ron Kruzman has listed a bunch of NOS Bally Williams playfields that he is selling in another thread. I will be at the Ohio Pinbrew show with my usual booth and can bring any of these playfields ( or any others he has for sale) to the show as long as you have a agreement with Ron prior to the show since I'm not allowed to haggle for him. The good thing is you can inspect it and pay me the cash and don't have to pay shipping. Just let Ron know ASAP.

    Thanks,

So I should send you pics of my STH LE when I get it all buttoned up?

Only if there is cardboard under the straps

Show looks great and is very tempting. 6 hours each way is killing me though

I'll buy you a beer to sweeten the deal.

Same here though I’m used to the drive as my wife’s family lives near Cleveland, but of course we were just out there a few weeks back so not sure if I’m ready to turn around and do the long haul again. Show looks like it’s going to be a great time and I’m still debating.

Boxing up some merch for the booth. Trailer is 1/3 loaded. I’m ready to go. I mostly only went to Illinois and Wisconsin shows. So pumped about a new show and new state for me

Looks like I’ll have about 10 Stern games that I’ll be unboxing for the show. So far only Jurassic Park premium is spoken for
