    Quoted from High_End_Pins:

I don’t understand why the pinball community sees a new cabinet as such a low value item.
$500 for a brand new cabinet and head?
    $750 is too much ?
No wonder it is hard to find people to do it and those that do fold(Lets play pinball,Big time cabinets )
We are paying $800-$1000 for a new playfield which is just a single piece of wood that is much smaller.
A cabinet in raw materials is at least four times that in lumber.
There is a good bit of labor involved in building a cabinet.they are not just wooden boxes there are important details that make them unique.
From a construction standpoint the cabinet is the house and the playfield and plastics are the furniture so I am not trying to talk anyone into or out of it but be realistic when you consider what a new cabinet really is. It is a new house for the rest of the game.
There is no money to be made for the provider making a cabinet and head for $500. They just won’t bother.

People have no problem shelling out hundreds of dollars on a plastic topper cut by a laser but want hand built cabinets dirt cheap. I have considered building cabinets to sell since I have all the necessary woodworking equipment and could make any era cabinet but don't want to deal with all the cheapskates.
