Quoted from lrosent345:Making ramps is easy. Making them right can be difficult. As far as I know, there are only three people in the world that have mastered ramp making. I'm personally excited about the other two because it is great for the hobby.
hear hear!
I’m continuously astounded that such high quality reproductions are being made, and at what a colossal labor of love they represent. I restore machines, so “labors of love” is basically what gets me out of bed in the morning, but the ramp makers are truly doing the “lord’s work” in pinball. I’m currently sitting on repro ramps for upcoming TOTAN and WW restorations, and just finished up an Earthshaker using SF’s ramps. Before that, I restored a PinBot using Freeplay40 ’s blue and red translucent ramp.
I’m always nervous that something. Is going to be wrong, that things won’t align properly, holes will need to be widened - but to date, I have never had any such problem. From what little I know about how these ramps are produced, there is a LOT of work we never see, and the pricing of these repro ramps is very fair.
Huge respect for what you all do. Not just keeping games alive but making them better and providing for greater longevity.
