Quoted from vid1900:

Looking closely, is it a dent, or did material wear away?

I think most silicone bands tend to dent/stretch like that.
The clear versions that PL sells did anyway; pretty quickly too...
The orange ones above look like they have about the same wear as mine did.
Corners seem to flatten out over time as well, (see first pic w/orange rubber on that JP, closest to bumper for example) so I tend to rotate them faster than the traditional rubbers.

#302 9 years ago
Quoted from Darscot:

How about posting a kit for JP on the website?

Well, I replaced some metal posts with plastic posts, so my kit wouldn't be stock...

#303 9 years ago

Silicon does tend to "dent" your can see similar reactions in silicon molds as well as in silicon caulking. It's common.

Just got mine in today and plan on doing a install and pics on Saturday (for metallica pro) als ordered a bunch of colored posts to swap out at the slingshots as well so I'll post pics of those as well.

#304 9 years ago

considering near 600 plays, those slings probably hit 10-20x that amount and are still alive, seems to me they're pretty durable, thanks for the pics.

#305 9 years ago

Order placed. Thanks for offering these.

Quoted from neverahighscore:

Different colors for different people! Good luck with your choice.

definitely applicable for playboy.

If someone makes a kit for TAF I will buy one. I'm not going to have time to do it myself (in the near future) via using the sample kit since the game is leaving tomorrow and won't be back for a few weeks. But if someone makes a kit for it, do let us know!

nothing against the product, but 600 games has you impressed for durability? That's nothing for regular rubber either.

#309 9 years ago

Depends on the game I'd say.

#310 9 years ago

I am freakin' *IN IN IN* on glow in the dark for Crescendo when you get them.

#311 9 years ago

Just got my translucent rings yesterday. Planning to install on my IM this weekend.

No one is saying 600 is the limit... I expect they'll hold up much longer than that.

I would hope so as regular easily goes more than that. The person I quoted said he thought they were "pretty durable" because they were ok at just 600 games. I just don't think such a small number means anything to durability.

well considering the product has only been around for so long, and people are obviously curious about the durability, I think Winter was just trying to speak to the fact that hey these new rubbers were played like hell for a weekend and I see no signs of wear and they clean up easy. That's about all we can say about their durability for now. Time will tell if they last as long or longer than other options.

#315 9 years ago

I put the white mini-post rings on my TZ today. They're about 10 times easier to install because they're so nice and flexible. One thing to note is that they're super white, without that touch of cream that traditional white rubbers have.

Big with greens everywhere and red wrapped posts. Sorry I couldn't get to a few of the posts. Also, my Big Game doesn't look as nice as the EBDLE.

Got my Clear Competition Rings from Matt in one day - wow! Installed them last night on my Embryon.

The rings are very soft, supple and easy to install. They play very very similar to fresh ABC rubber. This is saying a lot as most white rubber on the market today is crap. The power transfer from the flippers to the ball is amazing and has made me throw out all of the superband flipper rubber I had on my other games in favor of the competition rubber. There is simply no comparison.

The rings have a very cool glow when the game is on.

I have created two kits on the Titan site for Embryon. One in traditional white competition rubber and one in clear competition rubber. I have updated the traditional white to fix a couple mistakes noted in the Embryon manual. The manual calls for the use of a 5" rubber near the left captive ball and that is incorrect. The clear kit is correct.

In any case I will be doing all of my games in Titan competition rubber from now on. Here are a few pics of the clear on Embryon.

Thanks again to everyone for the pictures and the feedback! You've inspired me to go ahead and add a fourth mold for the next order. We'll get the Gottlieb 3/8 flipper rubber mold ordered today.

Now, this isn't a completely altruistic gesture. I just realized I've had regular size flipper rubbers on my Tee'd Off for the last few months

Awesome! As soon as they're available I'll replace the rubbers in Super Mario Bros.

Hope these things rock. Drank too much the other night, read this thread and ordered a bunch.

Put one on tonight, added some leds going to check it out again with fresh eyes and make some adjustments to the leds then do the other slingshot and snap a few pics in the morning

Hi Matt . I was wanting to order some to do my ACDC in orange . I can't seem to see where to order the mini-flipper rings from however .

Was hoping to get my order in by the end of the month to take advantage of your 10% off . Do you have the mini flipper rings in stock ? . Or will you have them in stock by the end of the month ? .

Cheers,

Scott M .

#332 9 years ago

He's about 4 weeks away (at least) from acquiring the molds and doing his first run of mini flippers along with Data East/Sega/Stern mini post sleeves and 3-1/2" rings.

#333 9 years ago

The mini flipper mold will be finished this week

Quoted from Crash:

He's about 4 weeks away

This should be about right, maybe a little less if we get lucky.

The support has been so good, I'm extending the coupon code for another month!

Just wondering how do these flipper rubbers compare to the Supper-Band flipper rubbers? just received my silicone set and not sure if I want to replace the Supper-Band ones.
Thanks

Sorry.....but read....that's been covered a dozen times in this thread.

Quick recap......these are much more like traditional red rubber and go on much easier.

#336 9 years ago

being I have never had red rubber on my machine your answer was really no help.
But Thanks anyhow.

Since you say you bought a set I would put them on and try them out and judge for yourself. It's easy enough to do.

They are ten times better IMO. They feel just like real rubber, and play just like it or even better. Superbands look great, but play terrible IMO.

Can you expand as to why? I feel super bands play great and I have continued to prefer them, I'm curious what makes these "feel/play better" than them? Are you saying these new ones play like regular rubbers and not like superbands? Or fall somewhere in between superbands and regular rubbers in terms of the way they play?

#340 9 years ago

I replaced stock black rubber flip's, and was kinda expecting a change. In actuality, they played very similar to the originals, which is NO problem, they look much better, and, just by what i've seen of them, they will not deteriorate the same way rubber ones do. So I am very pleased thus far. (Only 1 week).

Cool, I just got some excited to try them on games I have had superbands on for quite some time and have grown used to. I still like certain aspects of regular rubber but maybe this will be the one that sits between the 2 nicely in terms of playability.

Yeah. I prefer regular rubbers to superbands. I don't like how superbands feel sticky and super slow. These are bouncy and fast like regular rubbers. Also, I feel like dead bounces are never consistent on superbands. They look awesome, but don't play that way IMO. If superbands were all I played on, I would get used to them, but I just prefer the play of regular rubbers and these new silicone ones. I don't think Titan's are exactly like reg rubbers, but close enough and look way better and hopefully will last way longer too.

#343 9 years ago

Their slogan should be something like, "You've never been this excited to put a rubber on..."

#344 9 years ago

I agree with Chuckwurt - these bands play better than superbands in all aspects. I just bought more to replace all of the superbands I own.. Anyone need some superbands with very low play for cheap?

#345 9 years ago

Kind of breaks down like this:

I you love to just trap all the time then SuperBands are for you.

If you like to dead bounce between flippers like you could with regular rubber than Titan silicone bands are for you. You can also still trap but it takes a little more skill than with SuperBands.

I liked SuperBands but the dead bounce drains were rather annoying. There were also times where the spin on the ball would spin them right off the flipper (while trying to trap) due to the extra "grippiness" of them. If you were not paying real close attention you could have balls roll right off your flipper.

#346 9 years ago

I've played metallica on location and now on my machine both with superbands, I dig em. They seem to grip just enough and bounce well at least for me. But we all like different things,

#347 9 years ago

Thanks for all the photos, guys. I love the clears on any sci-fi themed game.

#348 9 years ago

I put the rubbers on LOTR and boy I love them. My game is quite a bit more lively. I like the look of shiny black rubbers but the bounce (or better) of white. Big thumbs up from me!

TDK in purple! Easy choice for this game-ties in well to all the artwork.
