Quoted from Crash:

I replaced the few rubber rings I had left in Jurassic Park before it goes back on route. It's been probably about 3 or 4 years since I last shopped it out, and that's before I switched to silicone rings. I have just been replacing what is needed a little bit at a time.

I had one on our routed Elvira and the Party Monsters break under both of the ramps. So I removed the ramps and replaced that one and all the remaining rubber rings. Now I won’t have to worry about it again for a few years, and it gave me the opportunity to clean up all the dust from the crappy gum rubbers that were installed in 2013, over 6 years ago.

Will be placing another order soon!

Sometimes I use 2 rubbers around areas that take a lot of hits, like pop bumpers. Has anybody ever tried to double up the slings?

#2604 4 years ago

Slings affect gameplay, so having two rubbers on them would impact their power I would've thought?

#2605 4 years ago

A quick sidebar:

Had a minor issue with a part. Eric at Titan promptly stepped up to the plate. Kudos for stellar service after the fact. A+ in my book.

Another reminder of how terrible gum rubbers are now. This Police Force project is definitely getting all Titan rings after 6 years of rubber deterioration! Either that or the Drug Rat escaped.

Titans look so good, last a good long time, are easy to clean, and really aren't that much more expensive than traditional rubber. I put them on all my machines. The one exception being post sleeves. I've not had great luck with those.

#2611 4 years ago

Were they the slim post sleeves? They didn't hold up well so we've redesigned them to be tapered and a little thicker to reduce air-balls and premature wear.

Yeah, the stern sleeves, I believe they are the slim ones. Good to know they've been redone I love my Titans!

I’m having a terrible time with slingshots breaking on my routed games with regular white rubber rings. Super-Flite alone has gone through five in eight months.

I could save a lot of time, money and grief if the Competition Silicone Rings hold up better. Any experience with this? I would gladly pay a little more for rings that don’t split.

I.dont have any routed games, but yeah, I'd say the Titans would last much longer than standard rubber. They're not that expensive really.

If you are getting the white rubber from pinball Life, stop buying them. They are junk. Either get black, or Titans.

Digging the feel of these on the flippers of my shadow. May do all my games at some point. Much better than super bands FOR SURE.

Agreed. I bought both superbands and titans for my flippers and played many games with each. I prefer the titans.

What wackybrakke said above. Especially if it's a Stern game and it calls for 2". We do have 2-1/4" now as well. These fit Tron and Metallica perfectly. If it's a 2-1/2" try a 2-3/4". Also check and make sure the ring groove doesn't have any sharp edges.

Yes, everyone. If you have a machine and the book says 2.5" rubbers and they are breaking. You should definitely make the change to 2.75". You can not trust the book. I had to put some 3"in the very back in my popeye. 2.5" would only last 2 months. 2.75" lasted 4 months. Titans don't like to be stretched.

#2621 4 years ago

Is one color stronger than the others? For example, are black Titans stronger than say a blue or red?

I haven’t noticed a difference.

My clear rubbers always look a little thicker and last a little longer.

Not sure what that means, but I don't believe I'm imagining. All I use is Titans. I guess that's for you to decide.

So why don't you use fresh rubber then? https://scandinavianpinball.com sells it! This is production pictures...

Just ordered $70 worth of rings and LEDs. Packed and labeled well as usual, thank you Eric and Heather! The labeled bags come in handy for my parts box.

I want to report on my experience with Competition Silicone Rings on a Williams Black Knight routed at D&D Pinball for six months. It got thousands of plays.

  • Compared to regular rubber rings, they don't collect much pinball dust
  • What little grunge that ends up on the rings is easily cleaned completely off with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol
  • The surface stays nice and soft, unlike the rubber rings
  • They maintain their shape well, better than rubber rings
  • There was no color fading that I could tell
  • The flipper rings, that always have wear on the end by the outhole, had no noticeable wear
  • I had no broken rings

I am very pleased with the performance of the red and yellow Titan Competition Silicone rings that I put on Black Knight. The only negative I can say is that they cost a little bit more than regular rubber rings, up front. But, considering how well they have stood up to all the play they got at D&D Pinball, I expect them to be much cheaper in the long run because I will be buying fewer replacement rings. As an operator, a trip to replace a broken ring is expensive. I had peace of mind knowing that I wouldn't have to be replacing any of these Titan Competition rings - another good reason to pay a little more for these rings.

In short, I don't know how they could be improved. Great product!! Thanks Titan Pinball!

I plan to start converting my SS pins to the Competition Titans. I will also be ordering slingshot and flipper Competition Silicone rings for my EMs.

#2631 4 years ago

I've had similar experiences with my location games. Will never ever go back to rubber. Check post #144 and below for some testing I did.

Well, I was working on my AFM this afternoon, and noticed there is another ring that is not documented. You can only see it when standing on the right side of the pin. There is a star post partially under the apron where the ball eject is. Just knowing it is there now bugs me, so I definitely want to add a GITD ring to it instead of the default black. Is this the same on the original AFM?

Can you let me know what size is standard for star posts so that I order the right thing? I also keep forgetting to order a set of your flipper button protectors, do you still have those in stock?

#2633 4 years ago
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:

It's a 5/16" ID ring. You should have one. Your kit included 3 of them. One for each outlane post, and that one under the apron. Also, I do indeed have flipper button protectors!

Forgot I had the extras. I’ll take a look, and thanks for the info.

Replaced all the rubber on my Deadpool I got in June with all Titan red. Have around 1700 plays on it and just recently had to replace the slingshot rubbers. The rest are holding up great. Needless to say just placed another order this evening for more. Great product

Any chance gold bands will ever be made. Think they would look good on a few games. Lotr, Tom, and my Ironman is begging for some.

Anything is possible

Your request is the first we've had for gold. I am going to see about a test run of metallic sparkly rings, just to see how they look and if they hold up.

Thank you for the kind words and the pictures! They look great.

Thanks for the quick order as usual. Deadpool shot on a new iPhone 11 pro.

I just finished my Superman a few weeks ago. Created a kit on Titan’s site.

https://www.titanpinball.com/kits/index.php/browse/bygame/4848

Mostly red, some blue on the left near the pop, yellow at the top rollovers and plastic-matching rubber post caps in yellow, blue and red all around.

Thanks! A few of them certainly are. Still have a few things to tend to. I went a little nuts on this one with the powder...totally worth it though.

The Titan kit really brightened it up, and the color scheme I chose is very “comic book.” First picture is the before.

Titan_Pinball ... and progress on those blue nubs of death talked about in post 505 and 507 - 4 years ago?
I recently picked up a monster Bash original and would like to have my nubs in either Green or GITD. Blue doesn't exactly match the art near Creature.

While we're on the topic; I'd like to see some Florescent colored rings that would do more than Green (like the glow in the dark).
Like a bright red, yellow, purple, blue, etc. Imagine Snail Timewith UV reactive rubber!

#2647 4 years ago

Not sure if it’s possible, but a silicone replacement for the rubber spacers on WOZ clear plastics would be nice in clear, green or red. After just shopping out my WOZ, I don’t see those powder-laden black rubber tips lasting much longer than a few years.

Ive got a Jurassic Park and a Stranger things on the way! Any advice what color titans for each? Green on JP and Red on STh?
