Quoted from bobbyconover:

Yep, I'm in the same position. Here's hoping I made it.

If you don't make it, you can always play one in Sequim.

EDIT: Anyone else keenly aware of how soon April happens?

#2752 9 years ago

Predator just started on AMC.

#2753 9 years ago
Quoted from kvan99:

1. 250 units only!
2. P-roc boards, separate power supply board. No more messing with V-regs and rectifiers.
3. Hand drawn art..(this alone sold me) Are you listening Stern?
4. Silk screened artwork and Clear coats between paint then UV paint and again top coat.
5. Pin-led LED DMD..no high voltage circuit.
6. Updatable software via memory stick or usb port.
7. Interactive toys on the PF.
8. Hook up for shaker motor, prewired and preprogrammed!
9. Rumor of a cool topper!!!
10. Mood changing lighting/ UV lights for the fluorescent paint..all LEDs through out.
11. sound system by Flipper Fidelity.
12. No freaking ponies.

1. Yes, only 250.
2. Don't forget the card-pc that will be running it, as well.
3. Sadly, I don't think anyone is listening just yet...
4. Playfield will not be silk-screened. There is just too much detail in the art to use the old-school approach, so we have to go a very different direction. Small update on this: The playfield artwork will NOT be any sort of overlay as previously mentioned. We have experienced some infamous delamination, and that is not acceptable. Playfields will be clearcoated for decades of dependability.
5. LED displays, yes, but not likely Pin-led. Working with Vishay right now.
6. Software updates will be in the form of new micro-SD cards if needed. There will be web options for software-savvy types, as well.
7. All toys will be interactive in one way or another. And no 'toy-bashing.'
8. Yes, shaker motor will be coded and wired, but will not be included.
9. We've seen so many cool topper ideas. We may include one, but right now we haven't decided. It will mostly depend on cost.
10. Yes, all LEDs throughout provided by CoinTaker lighting.
11. Yep.
12. Sadly, no ponies

Quoted from kvan99:

Kevin, if you're reading this the art looks awesome man...If I may note a few observation: the playfield art would look even better if there was...

Thanks! The artwork is going through a lot of updates and minor changes as it makes its transition from its original drawing to the printable inked version, and it is coming along extremely nicely. The symmetry won't be changing, but I'm confident you all will be happy with how everything comes together with all of its coloring and all of those gaps filled in.

Quoted from playboywillis:

1. A skull toy picture. Other toys will be hqnging bodies and Predator claw.
2. Power supply will support u.s. europe and aus power from go.
3. I believe 7 modes with wiz and mini.
4. Stackable hunt multipliers which no one outside makers really understand how they fit into modes.
5. Led lights
6. Cigars sold separately
7. Login system with goals that will remember you
8. NO VOICE ACTORS
9. Game release will be accompanied by additional plastics for purchase.
10. Every major actor and basically every quote included
11. Visuals will be scenes from movie. No cartoony dmd
12. Easter egg quotes with button presses

1. Toys are about finished, as well. I have some pretty cool stuff here that I've been dying to show off, but the protos that I've got will be going through some minor changes before they're added to the game, so I have to refrain. It should be noted that there's more to the skull than you've seen
2. Yes, the power supply is universal with very little modification. If by "modification," I mean you simply hook the power cord into it a different way. Very cool, for sure.
3. If you're counting the mini, that would make it 8
4. "Hunting" is a pretty standalone feature, but you can access it anytime, including during modes, and using it correctly will lead to a multiball mode. Anyone who has experience with stackable multiballs can immediately see the immense worth of something like this.
5. Yep again. I'll note here that if someone prefers retro lighting, you can specify when your order comes up and we'll do the game in retro, non-colored lighting. UV stays though, obviously.
6. Sold separately, but highly recommended.
7. Also saves all of your own personal audits and playstyle info.
8. No voice actors. Most of you have seen the movie enough to know that there are already PLENTY of call-outs to make a great sound package for this pin.
9. We're doing everything we can to make sure that any and all parts that go into the game can be acquired from online stores like any other parts, including plastics and playfields. Of course there will be a goodie-bag with some extra plastics and such in case of breakage from general use.
10. All characters are represented on the table.
11. Yes. Again, there is plenty of content from the source material to make a very full pin from.
12. There are many, many different ways to find easter eggs in Predator, not just button inputs

Quoted from DrStarkweather:

grapevine says BIG updates and reveals at the Michigan Pinball Expo next month.

We're looking to have the game complete in April. That doesn't necessarily mean that we will have a complete machine with us, though. We are bringing the previous prototype to the show with us, but that doesn't mean there won't be any big reveals while we're there The game will have all of the new software we've been working on along with some other things added to it since it was last seen back in October. The newest prototype we've been working on is waiting on finalized art and production ramps before we can go live with it. We're pushing everyone involved to have our biggest (and final?) update on the machine itself by the end of April.

Quoted from TigerLaw:

I'm hoping for a full art package reveal. That would be awesome. Also, a realistic date of when the first game ships. As I've said all along, Christmas 2013 would be a monumental achievement by these guys doing all this work with their own money out of their garage.

Yes, that would be awesome On the subject of realistic ship date for the first games, all I'm going to say is, if we don't have at least half of these things out by Christmas of this year, I'll be pretty damned upset.

Quoted from kvan99:

Man..I'm sweating here, I sent my deposit in last week but no email or confirmation yet...sure hope I made the cut.

If you were even OFFERED a chance to send in a deposit, then you're in. If you'd like to know which game number you've got, go ahead and email me and I can tell you.

Quoted from rai:

Kevin usually takes two weeks or a month to get back to you.

It's been getting better! In all seriousness, though, once production gets rolling we're going to need to add some PR people to our team for sure.

Quoted from spfxted:

...AND there will surely be more people dropping out when the real money has to be deposited....

That's pretty likely, Ted, but our initial numbers blew my mind. I expected to lose a TON of people when the holding deposit was requested, but I can tell you that we lost less than ten percent due to no deposit/no response in the end.

Quoted from navajas:

Anyone else keenly aware of how soon April happens?

We're pretty aware over here

AAAAAwsome...thank you Kevin, and thank you for making pinball buying a whole new and different experience...the extra time and effort you guys are spending talking and listening to to us will pay dividends in the long run, you now have at least a 250 person fanboy (and fangirl) club. I'm talking you guys up to all my pinball friends every chance I get...Thanks again for the good news!

#2766 9 years ago

Thanks for the special mention there kvan99.

Anxiously awaiting the April update. Still defending SkitB on the side as needed.

Damnit Kevin and here I thought we would find out the beginning of the month....oh well!

Thanks for the update and really looking forward to the end of April to see the biggest update. Keep up the great work and thank the team as well.

#2769 9 years ago

Good stuff!! I'm relieved to hear you are not going the overlay route for the playfield. Some delamination would be almost innevitable in the long run.

I am not surprised that the attrition rate is low!

Many thanks Kevin for this periodic update. It's good to see that what you answer our questions! Skit-B seems to be the only one doing that. Larger companies should copy this. You managed to build a faithful fanbase...

#2776 9 years ago

Count me in for a case a cigars and a can of whoop ass! I hope the ol' lady doesn't turn into a bag of snakes when she see's my new Predator Pin under the Christmas tree. Its going to be such a surprise for her. I haven't officially told her that I have a Pred on order yet. I figure how can she say no when its already here? She doesn't seem to have the same vision all of us have when it comes to the silver ball.

#2777 9 years ago

That's the way! Get it first...take the heat later...

#2778 9 years ago

I couldn't be happier to be in on this project.
Very exciting!!

#2779 9 years ago

I will be going to MPE >> largely because I am so excited to see the current iteration of Predator ASAP.

Looking forward to seeing you guys there!

#2780 9 years ago

Great to hear from you guys along with the up to date progress! Pretty damn cool you invested in some time to read through and answer a lot of questions, very much appreciated! That being said I can be patient but I can't wait till the next update! #110

Are you printing these with a flatbed printer?

I cannot wait for the new thread to start in about a week and four days............

Predator pinball at Michigan Pinball Expo part II!

#2783 9 years ago

"New New New Predator Info Thread"

I wonder how beneficial it would be to have them with a locked thread that only they can update? I mean, I love chatting with them and the interaction, but I know it gets tiresome looking for info in 56 pages of 'boredom filler.'

#2784 9 years ago

You got that right...

#2785 9 years ago

I hope to provide updates when I am at MPE. Let me know if you have specific requests and I will do my best to relay what I see on the ground

#2786 9 years ago

Pix of the playfield and your comments on gameplay would be great!

#2787 9 years ago

WOO HOOOOO !!!

Glad I clicked on the site before I went to bed. Sleeping with a smile on my face tonight!

Video of game play please. With the glass off if possible.

#2789 9 years ago

I do not have a very good video, but will do my best.

I am hoping the guys will let me look under the hood.

#2790 9 years ago

Just divert them with cigars, booze and women! Take videos. Then serpentine! serpentine!

I think Predator...with those dreads...hand rolls alien blunts!

#2793 9 years ago

Im half entertaining the thought of going to MPE. Depends on how work works out next week. My Mom lives about a half hour away.

#2794 9 years ago

DO IT!!!!

I will be there and not doing any voulenteering so I can actually hang and play more games than I did at MGC!

Quoted from DrStarkweather:

I am thinking about going as well, still kicking that idea around. We will see.

You guys should both go and form a team for pinbrawl on Saturday!

Quoted from Whysnow:

Yeah, I saw that. You got a partner already/plan on doing it?

#2798 9 years ago

Yup, got a buddy from Chitown convinced to tag along with me so I am picking him up on the way there.

We could pick you up on the way also B. Let me know if you want to do that and I can get you our hotel info (one that is close by and was only $100 per night for 2 beds, fridge, micro, and breakfast included; can't rememebr name now but have reservation at home).

We will be coming through chicago around 12--2 on Thursday and returning after the PinBrawl is over on Saturday.

Not a bad idea I wouldn't mind coordinating that if Skit-B wanted to do it. They would just need to PM when they would like me to unlock/lock it. I would be happy to.

Thanks for the update Kevin. I was itching to see/hear more about the pin. Looks like within the next month we should be seeing a lot more. I was hoping to see most of it at the start of the month. However, these things take time we all know that. You all have really surprised me with how far you have come with this project. We are cheering for you all to succeed in a major way!!
