Sounds like things will be moving along nicely...Any update on the playfield situation?
Thanks for the update Kevin
Quoted from SkitBPinball:We have to be super careful with the art, so stuff like this probably won't be happening. The last thing we need is to have this awesome artwork finally be finished and have Fox tell us to change it because we tried to sneak something in. Trust me, we've thought about this a few times. We REALLY wanted to hearken towards our next game (which is decided! start rumoring now!) in the DMD and on the playfield art somewhere, but we just can't risk this thing getting slowed down for something fluffy
Can I suggest a cool little keyfob with a hint at game #2 in the Predator goodie bag (if there is in fact a goodie bag)?
Quoted from SkitBPinball:Color changing lights are cool, but I'm still not sold on them being used in inserts and such. The Ac\Dc at our local venue has them and it confuses me hard. It's an awkward feeling to be confused by a pinball machine after playing them for 25 years (especially since I'm only 30...), so I can only imagine how weird it must be for new players...
I see your point but with how popular AC/DC is within the Pinball community and the excitement generated by the light show on WOZ I think most new pins will find a way to incorporate new technology in some way. Software controlled lights being new I can see why it may be a different experience and a bit disorienting but when playing AC/DC and WOZ I was not confused when it happened at all. I guess everyone experiences things differently.
I can see sticking to an old school approach but with no LCD this would be an opportunity to make the machine feel more modern. Not saying overdue it but rather make use of it a bit if it is an option. Of course some do not prefer modern but when I buy a newly made pin now a days I am intrigued when it can incorporate new technology that was not used in pins over 20 years ago.

This! Or a thank you card sent out on a random date with a picture hinting at the next title
Man I hope you guys go real deal Holyfield and become a staple of the pin community. Whatever the second pin is, I can't get on board, but I hope there's more than 250 out there for when I get more space than more than 1 pin.
Related question. Have you fellas quit your day jobs yet?
Im planning to pick mine up in person the minute its ready.
Cant wait to see some more videos/pics. I would love to see some of the boards and tech that will be used in production. Coming from the car world this pin seems like a restomod; All the style and class from "back in the day" but modern and improved under the hood.
Btw how is everyones Pred fund coming? Reminds me i have to hit up the Coinstar again...
Quoted from Tweedlefuzz:how is everyones Pred fund coming?
Oh, it's "there" ... ... man, we need an 'air quotations' emoticon
But it'll be paid in full for sure when my game is ready to ship!
Quoted from SkitBPinball:The shirts we sent out were all the shirts that were formally ordered. For those of you who donated early, they will be sent out shortly. And Ted, I fully expect to see a gif of you in your new shirt on here doing the Truffle Shuffle or something when you get yours.
You got it, pal!
OK! Sounds like group shipping may be possible, so we can keep that in mind moving forward. Best not to plan anything until game start shipping, but its something to think about.

You talk purdy

Hey Ted! They didnt forget about you man!!!
(If your shirt doesnt havr buttons I cant imagine the firestorm)
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:Hahaa, well quite a few of us are also very excited about the new software controlled color changing LEDs being used in new machines like WOZ & Predator. I say use them to your full advantage without over doing it to draw players into different scenes/modes. As always though to each their own.
I think they have their place, for example Space Station multiball mode turning the playfield green, it was striking because it happened rarely (if my multiball times are anything to go by...), but also because hardly any other machines had a similar ability. I think they could be used under inserts sparingly too in some games, allowing you to colour shot indicators by mode. I'm glad Kevin posted that traditional lighting will be an option - it's little to no extra effort for them during the build. Their approach to customers is so very refreshing compared to the other games in town.
I wish JJP would move on from having all their inserts colour cycling constantly, it just looks a terrible mess. Haven't seen a video for a while, maybe that bit is finished now. My prime complaint against bathing the playfield in coloured GI light more than just occasionally, is that it spoils the artwork. On a lot of the LED modified games you see, you can't even tell what colours the playfield art was supposed to be once they're switched on.
Thing I'm looking forward to most in Predator: Arnie war cry
Thing I'm looking forward to least in Predator: With every machine I buy regardless of manufacturer, I have to remove the head to get it in the house. EMs are the only machines where this isn't a royal PITA.
Someone needs to make a thread with a poll seeing how everyone feels about color changing inserts and color changing gi. I think most would be in favor of both. Im all for them since owning acdc, its my favorite thing about acdc. It really is what makes it truly modern.
If I were to make any request for the new video, I would like to see any of the new components, boards, power supply, etc... that have been decided on at this stage. I think lots of us like this tech side of stuff and find it interesting. It would be nice to see when you are ready to share.
Quoted from loren3233:Any update on the playfield situation?
Not yet. Once the art is done we will know a lot more.
Quoted from Kcpinballfan:How do you feel schedule wise? Are you guys currently ahead or behind schedule?
Not too bad, but I honestly think we could be in better position. Things are moving quickly, so hopefully we can keep a good pace.
Quoted from riggy469:Can I suggest a cool little keyfob with a hint at game #2 in the Predator goodie bag?
I like the way you think
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:this would be an opportunity to make the machine feel more modern
This is what we juggle everyday. It's kind of a mantra around here to make the game "familiar yet fresh." Remind me of this in a few months and tell us how we did
Quoted from playboywillis:Whatever the second pin is, I can't get on board, but I hope there's more than 250 out there for when I get more space than more than 1 pin.
I'm pretty excited for game #2 already, for many reasons that I can't really say anything about just yet. Based on the flattering reaction we've had for Predator so far, I can say that there will likely be more than 250 this time around.
Quoted from playboywillis:Have you fellas quit your day jobs yet?
We are working on Predator full time now. Michigan closes for the winter anyways
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:it will be full of beer, pins, Swedish bikini team, hot tub, and Predator DVD's!
This is official Skit-B Pinball policy: We will not hesitate to trade Pinball machines for Swedish bikini models. In the case of Swedish bikini models being used as currency, we reserve the right to boost production numbers indefinitely until further notice.
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:BTW, any plans for APE, in Miami next month?
As I sit here at 8 in the morning (extremely rare for me) wearing 2 shirts, a hoodie, two pairs of socks and a blanket while I check the forum, Miami sounds pretty darn nice. Read: I'll look into it
Quoted from system11:Thing I'm looking forward to most in Predator: Arnie war cry
Me too! When we first watched Predator to get ideas for the pin and it got to the war cry, everyone in the room looked at each other and collectively said "wizard mode!"
Quoted from system11:Thing I'm looking forward to least in Predator: With every machine I buy regardless of manufacturer, I have to remove the head to get it in the house. EMs are the only machines where this isn't a royal PITA.
If this ever happened to me, I would either move or install a really big window I could push pins through.
Quoted from Tweedlefuzz:I would love to see some of the boards and tech that will be used in production.
Quoted from Whysnow:I would like to see any of the new components, boards, power supply, etc.
We will show all this stuff in the next video. I really love the technical side of things and even though many of us have been working on games for decades, I don't think any of us forget how "magical" a pinball machine feels at the hardware end. It's amazing that an amalgamation of copper and silicon can bring a box of parts to life like a pinball machine.
Quoted from system11:With every machine I buy regardless of manufacturer, I have to remove the head to get it in the house.
I feel your pain. I have to do that as well to get it into my basement.
Quoted from playboywillis:Hey Ted! They didnt forget about you man!!!
(If your shirt doesnt have buttons I can't imagine the firestorm)
Yes, I hope they make a Special one for me with buttons.
Honestly, this is the best news yet. This will be the first commercial product to use a standalone single board computer and P-ROC. Kudos for this I am very impressed that you made it happen!
CPU board will be installed in the machine. This finally removes the need for a PC to run the game outside of the cabinet itself. For the first time, Predator will be able to standalone and be turned on and off like any other game. I'm a little nervous about it, honestly, but it will be a huge step towards making it "real."
One thing, while I'm fine with the retro or old school look or feel to the pin, it would fit with the theme of a retro theme from the 80s with old school weapons and helicopters and such but the predator had alien weapons and camoflage that are futuristic spaceman technology. So the theme would be great to have a futureistic element alongside 1980/90s type pinball frame.
Quoted from system11:I wish JJP would move on from having all their inserts colour cycling constantly, it just looks a terrible mess. Haven't seen a video for a while, maybe that bit is finished now.
Yes the demo model I played did definitely cycle colors way too much I agree with that 100%. I think they were more showing what it could do and did go a little overboard. I haven't seen any recent video's either but my gut would say they did tone that down a bit and better integrate the color changing.
Quoted from system11:My prime complaint against bathing the playfield in coloured GI light more than just occasionally, is that it spoils the artwork. On a lot of the LED modified games you see, you can't even tell what colours the playfield art was supposed to be once they're switched on.
I have seen that as well and see your point. It can definitely be overdone and while learning what looks good and what not to do I have been guilty of overdoing it myself. However, as I've gotten more experience with different LEDs it has become much less of an issue. This is why I really like the Premium 2 LEDs from Cointaker they are not as saturated color wise as super brights and provide better overall illumination (especially purple). Sorry, don't want to take over the thread just wanted to let you know I definitely can relate to what your saying.
Quoted from SkitBPinball:We REALLY wanted to hearken towards our next game
Harken to the next game in the playfield art on Predator!?
Must be Heart of Darkness. Or Bridge on the River Kwai.
Come on guys, we all know that the next pin is My Little Pony. I'm seriously going to be upset if I don't get a pony in my goodie bag.
Quoted from blondetall:I'm seriously going to be upset if I don't get a pony in my goodie bag.
I'm not sure I like the sound of that...

You know how badly I want to see this game........tell you what, you get the trip to Miami,
Ill pick up the Hotel, and beer, and well work on the Babes...Tootsies is nearby!
BTW, your communication skills are exceptional!
(brown nose, get your Ass to Miami! If you build it, they will come!)
Quoted from SkitBPinball:Can I suggest a cool little keyfob with a hint at game #2 in the Predator goodie bag?
They should have each keyfob say "Drink Your Ovaltine" just to mess with everybody.
I love SciFi and am watching Serenity due to the favorable comments earlier on the thread. I am about 30 minutes into it, and I am not getting it. Seems generic and pretty uninspired. Is it a slow starter?

Under no circumstances should you watch Serenity before watching every episode of Firefly.
It's available for free on most streaming services, and Netflix.
Quote: Where you been, lately? All is well?
I have been ok. Dealing with possessed fridges and sick/hurt dogs, but otherwise good.
You know, if Predator goes to Miami, I-75 runs right through Chattanooga. I have a spare bedroom and there is actually a strip club in town. Just sayin'.

Not sure if this is in the thread anywhere.... SkitB....Are you guys going to be at the Ohio Pinball Show next month?

Good. IMHO watching Firefly first is a MUST. Parts of Serenity really don't make sense much less engage you emotionally if you don't have Firefly under your belt. If you watch Firefly first I have to warn you of one thing. You, like the rest of us will feel the pain of having your soul scream out in misery at the fact that the show was cancelled so early on.

I was late to the party on Firefly/Serenity. (Flipside I saw it on Hulu for free and got Serenity on Blu-ray for $5... $5 for all that goodness... crazy to think about it in retrospect.) Anyways, usually people over-hype stuff and I went in expecting to be disappointed, but came out exactly as Hoss says.. so wanting more!
I even bought some Firefly comic books just to get one more taste, but they were on bland side.
I feel I was equally screwex on Spiderman The Animated Series all those years ago. The one with NPH and Lisa Loeb
Quoted from denmark71:Will you give buyers of Predator first crack at getting their same game # when the next game is announced?
Yes.

It's somewhere here in this thread. Good luck, lol.

It didn't sound like Kevin was in love with the idea... but I do recall him saying that, if that's what buyers want, they'd be open to it.
I think his exact words were that it "reeked of marketing" LOL!

Yep, that's basically what I remember him saying.
I am guessing/hoping that predator owners will be the first to actually know the 2nd game when that time comes and we will then be able to reserve a slot at that time if we decide we want to???
For now I am more concerned with game #1 and assume that the Skit-B guys are also.
I am so pumped to be for this ride!
