I noticed at WalMart that they sell lamp cords. Would one of these be acceptable for a Gottlieb EM? If so, any installation suggestions/tips?

Home Depot or Lowe's, get a nice 14GA replacement cord. Pay the $10.

Don't use a crappy lamp cord. Won't take abuse, gets hard/brittle with age.

That is generally what I use. It is at least as good as original. If you get three prong, you need to ground the machine properly, which is not as straightforward as it may seem.

You can get decent length PC power cords from newegg for reasonably cheap. This one looks like it would be fine, 15 ft and rated for 10A... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812196285

If you're getting a bunch monoprice is better but for less than 5 shipping kills it http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10228&cs_id=1022801&p_id=5281

The best deal on a 3 prong plug is from PBR. They are about $6.50. The best deal on a 2 prong is to cut off an extension cord. The other things will work, but sometime you run into problems getting round cords to go through the slot in the pedestal, plus they just look a little wrong.

Most mom & pop computer stores have pallets of 3 prong IEC power cords for $2.

On EMs, I run the ground connector to the frame of the transformer.

The PBR cord looks right & the price is decent.

Depending on how big your town is you can get all of the cords you will ever want buy just taking a walk around town on what our town calls riff-raff trash day. This is were larger trash items get picked up free by the township.

I have a large box of cords, nearly every kind you could ever want. Huge ones from old stoves and dryers, medium from A/C units and microwaves, long thin ones from from vacuums and other small appliances/electronics.

I find myself going to this box a few times a year and am always happy I have it, especially for the expensive large ones like a stove or dryer use.

Just grab a large pair of wire cutters when you go out to walk the dog on trash day and you can get your own collection of free cords in no time.
