SDTM just revealed a new POTC Pinball Topper by Elite Pinball Toppers.

I personally would rather have another pin than a topper like this, but with the exception of the CGC toppers this is the most elaborate topper I think I've seen.

$2500 for a topper... really cool though.

It has a lot of neat stuff, but I got bored with it just watching the video.

Hilarious and ridiculous

It’s your money, do you what you want, but on the list of “regrettable purchases” this would be nestled somewhere between AOL stock and a $10k audiophile DCC tape system.

Great value compared to GB topper

#6 11 months ago

wow it’s already sold out.

I’d buy one of these to replace the noisy topper on my CE for sure. Expensive, but on a 30K machine it’s worth it to me.

#7 11 months ago

I love on their site how they have a total of 3 products, but offer the ability to filter results by 4 categories and sort by 6 methods.

Just take the spring off from the back, it causes the gears to grind. CE topper has nothing to apologize for. Who looks at a topper when playing anyhow?

Ummm.

AOL returned 50% compounded annually for over a decade. At one point in time it was the most expensive stock in History. So long as you were not holding the bag at the end it was a great investment... family tree changing money. It his over $300,000 a share.

I believe you are saying, "it's a pinvestment". Buy it and flip it.

it's a (misguided, misconfigured) attempt at SEO

I'm not crazy about the look of the "waves" that rock, otherwise, I guess it's okay.

Tentacle porn finally getting mainstream

#13 11 months ago

If someone wants to sell their ordered topper to me, give me a PM. I’d like to add it to my game.

It’s sold out and they are not available in Europe.

#14 11 months ago

Same here, anyone looking to sell theirs, PM

#15 11 months ago

Not gonna happen of course, but it would be interesting to know what % of the "Save the money ..." votes were cast by current POTC owners.

On a 30K pin, what is 2,500 bucks? It is amazing. Now when a listing for a CE comes up, the question will be, do you have that topper!

#17 11 months ago

Can we create a list of who bought?

#18 11 months ago

The waves look like teeter totters. At that price, I would've figured out a better design for them.

But they sold out, so what do I know?

#19 11 months ago

My POTC Topper...its a Stern so its Cheap.

#20 11 months ago

Most of my games did not cost that much

Right? You know what's cooler than a topper? An entire game.

#22 11 months ago

Looks cool but I think the blacknight topper is better.

#23 11 months ago

I don’t think the movement of the waves looks very good and overall it looks way too big on top of the machine. But it seems like there are at least 100 people that like it, so I’m glad it’s available for them.

I am in this boat, the waves were the weak link.

If someone likes this though, it is very cool that it is available. The seller grossed $250,000 in sales in a few hours, so kudos to them too.

That’s what’s so insane about it. So many better ways to do that effect.

I wonder how many people that bought one don’t actually own a PoTC? I bet a bunch with the intent to flip.

Exactly! The gauntlet has been thrown!

The next Gouveia creation?

Good luck! (it will be hard to top Gus ... LOVIN' it!)

#30 11 months ago

On second thought, I am going to pick up my gauntlet and pretend you didn't see it because:

a) My garage isn't big enough.
b) I think toppers are overrated.

I do actually like the rest of it, but those waves are just not happening at all.

And glad you're LOVIN' Gus!!!!

Really cool use of the ultra wide display, leds, and great printing on the ship and Kraken. Agreed the waves could’ve been implemented better using tried and true stage craft methods.

If you wanted to stick with the rocking wave method… you could put Wham-o Magic Windows on them.

I haven’t heard, but I’m sure it sold out in a matter of hours. I know their run or 25 Elite IJ toppers sold out in about two hours.

The 25 suckers that bought that IJ topper hahaha, Wow that thing is horrible (most toppers are). Out of scale and does not look correct. Most bought that to flip also. Just because it's limited doesn't mean it's worth anything. "The schill videos about these toppers? Disgusting. It’s what I hate most about this hobby."

#36 11 months ago

Honestly not a fan of this topper. The waves moving back and forth like a sea saw looks weird, and the screen in the back ground just looks like a TV. If you're going to call it ELITE topper where is the themed frame around the screen? Lastly missing the actual logo of the movie is a big let down... get it about the license but without the logo is a big letdown.

I understand why they want to charge $2500 for the topper, and I'm happy they got it. I'd like to see more toppers from this company, but this topper is not worth the money because at the end of the day personally think it would make your game look gaudy. An elite topper should enhance the look of the pinball, it should seem like it was always meant to be there from day one. This topper feels out of place, and honestly I think a topper without the animation would be better especially if it included the LOGO of the movie. Without the logo of the movie it just looks like some toys or props sitting on top of your game. Just my opinion. Loved the Indiana Jones 10 of 10. This one maybe 6 out of 10. Missing a frame around the screen to hide the fact its a tv, no logo, and weird rocking of pieces of wave up and down. Just doesn't do it for me.

I think it would have been better if the waves where static and the boat was rocking up and down with the kraken tentacles moving. Those waves look like logs just going up and down. Also think it would have been better as well if they tapped into the CGI from the game itself opposed to a looping wave they installed. Again just my opinion.

I watched with the sound off and my thought was “what’s with the pavers, was there an earthquake in POTC 5 or something?” Once you told me they’re supposed to be waves I can kind of see it.

Also, for $2500 shouldn’t all the tentacles move?

#38 11 months ago

$2500 for a topper? Hmmm, nope. Just do not understand the appeal of toppers or why some people are willing to shell out huge money for them. Some of these things look like a middle school science fair diorama.

For $2500, I should have a dog-gone octopus trying to tell me about their lord and savior, Cthulhu.

yeah, next to the perceived value of an artificially-inflated pinball machine, the artificially-inflated price of this useless add-on is an just such an amazing value!

I don't think those are waves, may be ripped off ship timbers in the water maybe? Just my observation...

#43 11 months ago

I would rather castrate myself with a blunt rock on a lock down bar for entertainment then play a POTC pinball machine with this topper on it…wtf is going on here with this topper stuff. UNBELIEVABLE!

Do any of these naysayers even own a JJ POTC?

All that proves is that there are people with deep pockets in this hobby (probably too many of them), something we all already know.

Irrelevant

Quoted from wackenhut:

I do and have owned it since day one. POTC JJP is one of if not the best game ever created. I would never sell my game and I think this topper is a half baked attempt, over priced and goofy.

This is NOT an ELITE Topper its a mess. A bunch of cool pieces thrown into a blender. At teh end of the day it doesn’t matter they sold 100 due to FOMO nothing more. I bet you several buyers come to the same conclusion and or they bought it just hoping to make a profit. It will be interesting to see these go up for sale for $4k or $5k and if anyone buys them.

I’m going to go on a limb here and say this topper over time won’t be highly valued. The Indiana Jones topper 110% this one no thanks. Will be fun to watch what happens with it over the next few months.

#48 11 months ago

They have seen a gap in there market where idiots will blow $2500 on a diorama sat on top of a pinball machine. Fantastic business model, and not even hit the ceiling yet.

Look forward to what comes next and what crazy price it will be

Why build 100 at $2500 when you can just build 50 at $5000 same profit half the work. And ppl will still buy it!!

#49 11 months ago

Are you saying that if they produced a few extra toppers people will have no interest?
People already are asking to buy them.

#50 11 months ago

Since the two moving waves merely operate as teeter totters, I'm waiting to see who adds a pirate action figure to one so it bobs up and down in the water.

And can't someone modify the stormy night video on the LCD to have Popeye occasionally pass by in a life boat?
