New pinball term: RUO which means Route Use Only

Route Use Only games are beaters that can be loosely called "Players" condition.
My Terminator 2 is RUO & Demolition Man is RUO.
This term will offset the toxic waste of a phrase which refers to a "smell" as a condition of a game.

Although a game may be off route,
if it's beat to $HIT and has been in your house 20+ years,
    it's still RUO may friends.

Does it have to be documented?

I like it - we should also have a term for games that are price pumped and or just flipped for a profit. Like - For sale LOTR HUO $6000 FIMP (Flipping, Inflated Market Price)

Nice term....simple enough to remember too

Completely ignores the meaning of the word "only".

I have rebuilt a few HUO games (Heavily Used and Operated) so what's in a name?
I don't just buy any snaprag shopped junkers unless they come from your personal collection, these games always sell for a premium.
I used Dr. Guffs on these, the last one was a 2 canner but it turned out really nice.

Exactly! just like HUO could have been on route
and we then expand the meaning of the word "HOME".

Yes, with playfield wear & or rust & or broken plastics and or gum and or...

Your best value is a routed game. Just don't get suckered by a con artist pushing the game as something else. If that happens, get even with them.

No. Home use only means only used in a home, not routed. In the end nothing matters but condition so these terms are useless because people try to mak them mean whatever they want.

I wonder if Dr. Dude is a "Research Use Only" pin

RUO - HUO Neither term really has anything to do with a machine's condition

    Wrong!

    Wrong!
IF a game is actually HUO then it is most damn likely in damn good shape.
Odds are if a game is RUO that it is closer to the other end of the spectrum of condition than HUO.

Unless it was next to the indoor swimming pool. Chlorine would chew it up.

why not stop using these silly terms to begin with. If a pin plays well but isn't the prettiest then say it's a players pin or just describe the damn thing and have pictures!

    #16 10 years ago

All pins were made to be RUO.

    Does routed work as well?
