Quoted from Hollywoodbone:

Ahhhhh I already bought a cheap one! I won’t get in to any board work or any thing so it will just be random small things like wires and such so hopefully it holds up!

Should be fine for that. You do any board work it will look like this.

Quoted from ASOA:

Zach & Greg do not have the Oprah touch "as of yet" but they substantially increase sales for businesses they endorse. This is simple Zach & Greg will not endorse a product they do not believe in

Heck, all we have seen is an interview with the designer and programmer. Maybe when we finally see their review they are going to tell us that the game did not shoot well, the music was awful, the rules were too confusing, and too many of the characters looked like Greg.

Very true and it’s always a possibility!

This wasn't a review so much as a really detailed walkthrough and I have to say I loved it. Great episode.

Part 2 Review is coming next. Stay tuned. We wanted to break it up in two parts for two reasons:
- It’s long and we didn’t want to edit out any of details given
- We want to produce videos that stand as an archived video for pinball enthusiasts to refer back to, especially once they start hitting game rooms and arcades. Dividing the review allows for that plus includes our opinions on a second video.

Thanks again for the support and enjoyment of what we are doing!!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Really digged this episode. Learned a lot of things about the game that I wouldn’t have from anywhere else.

Thanks Rossman. So what machine have you been playing lately?

#708 6 years ago
Quoted from ZMeny:

I think youll like it man. Have you been able to ge time on it yet?

Not yet, definitely want to get some time in on the game before ultimately deciding to buy. Your video though is easily one of the best pinball overview videos I've watched. You asked a lot of great questions and it was awesome to hear from Eric and Keith talk about the games design and code in detail.

One of the things I took away from the video is just how well the game is designed. After listening to Eric you can tell he spent a ton of time designing the game, thinking about every shot and making all shots and targets serve a purpose.

I'm just getting into the Keith Johnson part of the video. I love Keith Johnson games and think he's pretty much the Yoda, the Grand Master, of objective based rulesets, haha.

I like the "This is Keith Johnson, rules and code God" line from the video, lol, damn right.

I gotta say that when first looking at the length of the video I felt like there was no way I'd get through it all. Happy to say I was wrong. This was a very in depth conversation between a guy who loves pinball (Zach) and two designers that are clearly proud of their creation and you know what? They should be. I marveled at this game the entire time while they took me step by step into the shots, paths, modes, characters and over all feel of the game. Might've just convinced me to get one so I'd say that SDTM is doing what they set out to do. Great job guys. I'll be tuning in again. Subscribed!

ZMeny Thanks for almost killing Greg to drive up there and shoot this. Videos like this keep the excitement going for an obviously incredible game.

Wow what a great walktrough of POTC. Seems like an awesome game. Very impressed with the dedication from STDM in giving us quality material. Also great dedication from JJP, Eric Meunier and his team. Good times ahead for pinball!

You guys did an amazing job on this video. My brother (Eric) and his team have put so much effort into the game, it is great to see it getting the attention it deserves. I am sure I met you guys at different shows, but if not, I will have a booth at TPF and another one at MGC. Stop by and say hi.

Thanks again.

Thanks Rossman. So what machine have you been playing lately?

Well, I’m trying to find a good game to replace my High Speed. I was looking into Demo Man but that got sold and it was overpriced anyway. I’m really looking into LW3 or LAH just because of the price. What would you suggest?

I think high speed is better then lw3! Demo man is fantastic! If it’s between lw3 and LAH I would go with LAH! It’s a pretty good pin and underrated!

Thank you for providing a great video. This is exactly what every pinball reveal should have out of the gate. A professional in-depth video of the actual pin and not just jumping straight into gameplay as the only source of information. No chaos, no crash course feeling on figuring out the design or why the game is the way it is. I feel like I understand this game much more than my SW already after just the first 45 minutes. I was on the fence, but the video sold it for my wife and I, thus we'll be picking one up very soon.

That’s our aim and we hope every new pin will be covered by SDTM in the same way going forward. Fingers crossed.

It was like that movie that you just can't get your eyes off, but this was even better because there was so much detail and care taken to cover depths of this game that may not have ever been known or that may have taken months to figure out. This makes getting a Pirates of the Caribbean a no brainer and makes you prepared 100% for the quality rules and gameplay, and of course the well known construction of the game itself. Thanks guys!!!

It’s in the Western PA area. We are about 2.5 hours from Pittsburgh and about 1 hour away from Erie. Wish I lived closer so we could play some pinball!

Really? I’m just a little bored with High Speed just because I put so many games on it and it seems like LW3 has a lot more going on.

yeah, I heard...

"The depths... (far left scoop) it's makeable, even my brother did it...." - Eric on the SDTM amazing video.

Good thing I love my little brother.

Posting this up for Zach and Greg as they are going to also be at the Louisville Arcade Show ( www.arcaderx.com ) this weekend along with Pin Stadium. They are planning on selling their new T-Shirts so let's give them the ground swell of support they deserve by getting one of these shirts on everyone's back. It helps them do that they do best! This is the special SDTM Limited Edition "Artist Series" run of them!

Another pin back on my radar due to SDTM, great coverage of the playfield. Gotta give it to JJP, for using every square inch of that playfield. Call outs are the last key ingredient imo.
Hope Larry brings one to SFGE.

#734 6 years ago

Decided to rewatch JJP review episode 1, a 2 hour commitment. POTC is more awesome looking / sounding the second time around. Integrated rules allowing stacking of modes and chapters, all of which were explained in the demo. Standup targets build multipliers up to 108 and there are FOUR multipliers going while while you play the chapter. The podcast shows smooth shots having a satisfying feel, makes everything come together = a must buy, when ready. Already have the space and funding available.

It seems to integrate everything JJP has tried to date, then added new engineered mechs and then taken it to a whole new level - creating a 3D sculpted world and Hollywood movie-like video and game integration. Rules take a great game and juice it with steroids. POTC could be crowned the worlds first Super Class pinball machine. Pinball games that can literally blow your mind! SCHWINGggggg!

Unfortunately no, not in the sdtm budget this year. I’ve heard great things though hope to make it up one year

#737 6 years ago

Looking forward to part II of the review, and also caught up with most of your Houdini vids... very nice machines being launched now.

Has there been any "inside the cab" vids for Houdini? It may have been in your unboxing video or otherwise on the net... but I was wondering what sort of system is inside. Node board funkyness? Impossible to replace almost everything?

Or do they actually have fuses and mostly repairable components ?

You freaking rock for helping support the show!!! Thanks to everyone who purchased one. Man, those are selling well so get yours if you haven't. AUK thanks for making Greg actually do some work instead of walking around, bullshitting, drinking beer, and looking for SEGA pinball machines.

Thank you both for all the time that you guys spent to put this review together. Fantastic job! I am not surprised that you both gave it top scores, but I don't know how Zach can call this one of the greatest pinball machines ever while on his list he has Ghostbusters ranked higher. So which character did you play?

Haha GB pro is amazing! It’s hard to argue against JJPOTC not being one of the best ever made considering the build, experience, engineering, and coding. Burley have you been able to get your hands on one yet?
