LOL. This is going to be fun.

Damn, Canada got lumped in with the US, lol.

GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION!

He didn't include mexico though, must be a huge fan of donkey shows.

Quoted from Pinchroma:

We will probably end up seeing a knockoff version of it on alibaba.

Ok, that almost made me spit out my drink.

#162 10 years ago
Quoted from Pinchroma:

Now THIS on the otherhand is a pinball theme!!

Voltron would be killer.

I don't think Thunderbirds is a bad theme, even though I've never seen the show. I think homepin himself will do more to kill it than the theme will, which is a shame.

Haha, I love how he changed his website reasoning to this. Sure chargebacks are the reason.

Home_Pinball.pngHome_Pinball.png

And just so everyone sees the original reason, here is his original post in case he decides to change that too.

Quoted from Homepin:

I have almost decided that I will not make this machine available to the USA market. I may not even include an option for 110V.

The USA was never an intended market. There are 200 other countries..............

Have fun in the USA living in your sheltered world.

I'm busy now - taking the "post to the USA" option off my website for boards I make because I don't think I will sell them to anyone in the US anymore - ByeBye.

Yes, I am taking my bat and ball and going home (if any of you actually understand that).

Adding Homepin and Thunderbirds as text here so google can index it easily too.

#205 10 years ago
Quoted from Homepin:

I could never win a PP chargeback because it is simply too expensive to post things with tracking from Australia. I was charging $12 for post to the USA but every package cost me $17~18 to send anyway, and with no tracking.

This is a great example on how not to run a business.

I'm not sure what is wrong with saying: "Due to issues in the past, we require that all shipments to the US pay for tracking numbers, which is an additional $10 fee."

Instead, everyone of his customers from the US and Canada must be con artists out to steal his stuff. That's obviously the logical choice.

#207 10 years ago
Quoted from Homepin:

When a faceless American hiding behind cloaked email addresses is blackmailing you it doesn't help either!

Oh god, I have to hear more about this. Please do tell.

#208 10 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I'll just drive to Mexico to pick up mine.

I'm down for a trip to TJ.

#271 10 years ago

I've gotta at least give Homepin credit for hooking me into thunderbirds. I still think the theme will stink on a pinball machine, but I've watched some clips on Youtube today and it got me to laugh a few times.

It'll get me to re-watch the really funny version, team america, again as well.

#347 10 years ago

The whole kit thing is going to be such an epic failure if he keeps his current attitude.

If he is too scared to tell his international customers that they have to pay X dollars more for tracking, then I can only imagine how he will react when things with a kit go south.

"You people are too stupid to assemble my kits, I'll never sell them to morons like you again. I will be putting an IQ test on my site."

#368 10 years ago

I've been trying to come up with a short joke formatted in the "______, australian for ____" format that fits this situation, but I just cant nail it down.

I know there's a good one there somewhere.

#398 10 years ago

I have stuff that is simply not available in the USA so it's their loss not mine. They just haven't realised that yet because they are all too high and mighty about me being an upstart - well, we will see won't we.

If anyone needs a board he would have sold, I'll be willing to offer up free design/board layout for that part and release the design openly to the pinball community. Just let me know, and figure out how to get me a sample and/or schematic of the original.

Ill even set pinball life or someone up with a board house that will manufacture them.

#400 10 years ago
Quoted from GaryMartin:

The only one I'm aware of (that will really be missed) is his "Long Opto board" that gets used on BSD (It's the opto that shoots the Mist ball track). The original board from B/W had major issues and they often need repairs. The replacement board he did was really a very good solution.
Edit: That is Homepin's board right? I'm not positive he's the Aussie that created it or not.

I'll take a look at this board in particular over the holiday and see whats up.

#411 10 years ago

It's so awesome that the name of that file is tea bag.

#457 10 years ago

I honestly don't see the "lumping aussies into the same bucket" stuff.

I personally just think Homepin is nuts, not all aussies.

Quoted from tracelifter:

Quoted from Crash:

And Mike mysteriously disappears from the face of this thread.

It was a good move on his part, it would have just escalated. Both JJP and Stern take a ton of abuse/criticism, but they just ignore it for the most part. Internet rule #7.

#542 10 years ago
Quoted from Gryphon:

Lucky for the USA and Canada customers as Homepin is once again selling parts to you all.

Nobody saw that coming...

#632 10 years ago

I keep thinking about this... JJP hit the market at a really good time. Releasing a game right now capitalizes on pinball being a hot trend right now. Jack's timing couldn't have really been better.

Will pinball still be "in" like it is now in 2015/2016 when this machine comes out?

#634 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

its safe to say that 500 of these will be snapped up by us aussies. Pretty much everyone i know that has the cash will be a nib buyer.

Cool.

You see a lot of "boutique" pin makers popping up lately, I just wonder if they will have the same hot market to sell to in 2-3 years. A lot can change between now and then.

#644 10 years ago
Quoted from GaryMartin:

All of the above, I wrote TradeWars2002

Awesome. That's one of the only bbs games I registered.

#647 10 years ago
Quoted from GaryMartin:

And I much appreciated that! We had about a 10 to 1 ratio of pirated copies to registered ones.

It was quite a feat for a young kid with nothing but a paper route. I registered my BBS software, RemoteAccess as well.

One of my best modem upgrades was a Courier HST dual standard. I had to save up like $400 at the time to get one, lol.

#652 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

Let's hear more about Tbag and this new phone that you are working on and the integration of the two

He is designing a new phone too?

#660 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

Either that or hack into the pin side server and black cock the entire forum.

Is that Aussie slang or an autocorrect typo? Lol.

#665 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

You've never seen a forum be black cock bombed? It's not a vein threat, see what I did there son?

Like Alex, I've been on forums for a long time, back to my own BBS in the mid 80s. Never seen a black cock attack.

I've seen tons of shit go down on 4chan, I've even been brave enough to investigate space dicks, lol.

That's hilarious though.

ROFL!!!!

#667 10 years ago
Quoted from Pinchroma:

You went to /r/spacedicks? You must be permanently scarred.

The plus side is now I can watch things like 2girls1cup and japanese eel porn like they were sesame street.

It's not rocket surgery.

Too early in the morning for this silliness. I'll be back after I use my teethbrush.

Any updates about the machine itself?

#994 9 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

Old mate did an interview with pinheadz podcast where he came of as sane and likeable. Apparently it's all set for 2015 and it's one of six or so planks that are in various stages of conception and design.
Apparently no established designers can be named as they are working for other manufacturers right now and his boy will be doing the art work. All artwork will be hand drawn and not photo shopped.
One of the six games in the mix is said to be an original unlicensed theme. Has also acquired the rights to reproduce cocktail cabs under the "Hankin" name.

Thanks for the info!

"What’s happened? “It’s absolutely been harder than expected – partly it’s the sheer volume of parts involved,” he says."

LOL, that's like the 5th new pinball company that's said "It's harder than I expected".

Quoted from SadSack:

This is total bullshit! Suffering the loss of his wife does not exempt him from previous commitments. If it did, he needed an insurance policy to repay the prefunders. The loss of a loved one warrants one month reprieve at the most. This project is much longer off the rails than that.

Ease off man.

Homepin was so bullish I'd normally enjoy watching him get roasted for missing his deadlines, but not this way. Losing someone like that is no joke.

That's a cool effect!

#1612 7 years ago

Y'all crazy.

#1686 7 years ago

Homepin, thanks for sharing everything you do with us. It's cool to see an inside view of how things are progressing.

Is there anywhere to order those cool pops with the new lighting that you've come up with? Those would be sweet as hell in Spaceballs!
