I wasn't even remotely close to being born when this theme was a thing.

Reminds me of team America world police. America, Fuck yeah

LOL! image.jpgimage.jpg

Excluding the largest pinball market and the defacto home of pinball. That makes TONS of sense.

#124 10 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Damn, Canada got lumped in with the US, lol.
GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION!
He didn't include mexico though, must be a huge fan of donkey shows.

Gross, just gross! hahaha

#129 10 years ago

We will probably end up seeing a knockoff version of it on alibaba.

#159 10 years ago

Wow. I can understand why this was successful in the 60's but it's extremely odd now.

Now THIS on the otherhand is a pinball theme!!

#164 10 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Voltron would be killer.
I don't think Thunderbirds is a bad theme, even though I've never seen the show. I think homepin himself will do more to kill it than the theme will, which is a shame.

I wouldn't mind thundercats either Wondering if the original voice actors are available..

#165 10 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

» YouTube video

That whole move was tongue in cheek (and hysterical).

#167 10 years ago
Quoted from GaryMartin:

I AM.... MATT DAMON!!!!

The fact they made matt damon retarded was brilliant.

#185 10 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Haha, I love how he changed his website reasoning to this. Sure chargebacks are the reason.

And just so everyone sees the original reason, here is his original post in case he decides to change that too.

Adding Homepin and Thunderbirds as text here so google can index it easily too.

Thank you for making this SEO friendly

Quoted from Crash:

Alex, this is mad! I was going to buy SEVERAL LED displays from you (I was complimenting you last week) but this is simply insane what you are doing. In order to get our business you are going to have to do something incredible to redeem yourself. Otherwise our entire fleet of route games will continue using plasma displays, and any other replacement parts you would otherwise offer. Sorry but you have really screwed the pooch over this whole Thunderbirds thing.

Wait his name is Alex? Didn't someone say his name is Mike?

#196 10 years ago
Quoted from Homepin:

I didn't start this thread and I never had any intention of doing so about this machine. Someone else chose to start this thread. I have just posted the following on an Australian pinball forum. I don't want or need American customers, thanks but no thanks, you just are not worth the trouble. Stick to Stern and JJP - they know best.

***********

The only trouble I have EVER had for 3 years was selling parts to Americans. At least once a week I would get a PP chargeback because the board hadn't arrived in a few days.

I could never win a PP chargeback because it is simply too expensive to post things with tracking from Australia. I was charging $12 for post to the USA but every package cost me $17~18 to send anyway, and with no tracking.

Not a single part was ever returned to me so I assume they did arrive - do you think the buyer contacted me and offered to pay after they received the goods? Hahahaha - NEVER - NOT ONCE!

The end result was that every other buyer paid for these scum to get free parts! I am glad to be rid of them to be frank. In business you do not need (or want) every customer. It is better to weed out the ones that cause you trouble and concentrate on looking after the good ones that appreciate what you do. I can honestly say that for all the customers I have had from the USA there are about 5 who actually were appreciative - the rest, well - you get the picture.

Right from the start I made it 100% clear to the few that I asked about the Thunderbirds theme, that the USA was NOT my target market, I even said to a couple of people (6 months ago) that I probably would not sell to the USA and China at all (they are on this forum - you know who you are).

If my stance on not selling to the USA bothers you that's fine - you can get your parts elsewhere. I am not in this "for the money" and that point has been missed by most. I am doing it because it's what I love to do. That's what makes me different. Comments like "you have cut off 75% of your market" mean nothing to me - so what? I don't care - like I said, it IS NOT about the money.

There is another reason they can get lost but I am instructed not to mention it publically - the above should be enough to make my point crystal clear.

WOW... Speechless.. Lumping every american in the same bucket? Isn't that what England did to the aussies? Are you all criminals? I doubt it.

#244 10 years ago

I must be the only one that has never seen that movie.

Someone give me the abridged version?

#253 10 years ago
Quoted from AkumaZeto:

» YouTube video

I have to give that a giant WTF...

#274 10 years ago
Quoted from AkumaZeto:

its 3 pages of his fellow country men calling him a dumb ass

Essentially except for VERY few of his buddies sticking up for him but basically as Akuma said it's aussies saying they are ashamed of his attitude.

#326 10 years ago

I just realized something, isn't it going to be extremely difficult to assemble a pinball machine upside down?

#369 10 years ago

He cut his number to be built in half from 2000 to 1000 so said he on the Aussie forum. So I guess the us market is insignificant. So insignificant he cut the run in half.

#538 10 years ago
Quoted from Gryphon:

Lucky for the USA and Canada customers as Homepin is once again selling parts to you all.

Yeah.... We're the lucky ones. You know the close minded idiots? This thread and the screenshots of his website will live in infamy.

#552 10 years ago

This dude is a joke. You have to see his delusional anti-american/canadian ramblings on other forums. This game platform is going to be hilarious.

#555 10 years ago

No? You didn't refer to us as narrow minded idiots? There are 300 other people in this thread that beg to differ.

Let me refresh your memory.

This was pasted verbatim to forums with added bonus. Should I screenshot those too

Now run along.

image.jpgimage.jpg

#558 10 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I didn't see it that way. He said too many. Now who could argue with that?

LOL. And your right. Small mind not narrow.

#568 10 years ago

Lets see,

The OS that runs a pinball platform (Linux)
If you have an android phone? My code is on it.
A cable box? My code is on it.
A smart tv? My code is on it.
A bank account? My code runs the server it's on.

How many devices run Linux? Maybe close to a 1/2 billion?

I can go on forever but I've made my point.

You came here a few months ago talking trash about PC based components but had no ability to back up your ramblings. When the primary game developer for woz ripped you apart as well you left because you realized you came to a battle of tech intelligence unarmed.

Your constant nonsensical wannabe tech rants on why PC based platforms suck are what keeps me replying to you and everyone else who has a shred of modern tech understanding laughing.

Like your assertion about replacing motherboards being a "nightmare". LOL.

Quoted from GaryMartin:

Then STOP TAKING PAYPAL!!! It's laughable that you're a business man yet you aren't set up to take credit cards already. Most any legitmate business would have that done first, before trying to offer a product. It makes you look like an amateur and even harder for people to believe that you are going to produce a pin. So instead of crying over the problems with PayPal, just get a real CC setup. Heck, I got setup for credit cards just to sell BBS software back in the 90s. It's NOT hard.

MajorBBS, wildcat, or pcboard?

#609 10 years ago
Quoted from Frax:

Which one of you guys has a server running LORD or Usurper? Would probably take Tradewars but prefer the other two.

One of my colleagues Joe wrote LORD. I can stand one up if people actually wanted to play it

#616 10 years ago

For 1000 games? Probably 1/2 a million to a million US in just design, white woods, development, etc? Pipe dream to think it can cost less without having infrastructure in place.

For example any developer worth their salt is going to want 100k a year at an absolutely bare minimum. There goes 1/5 the budget on 1/2 a mill.

new platform development is going to take at least that long.

#622 10 years ago
Quoted from GaryMartin:

All of the above, I wrote TradeWars2002

Lol I coded part of "telearena" for major bbs and my friend joe wrote lord. Old school!

#624 10 years ago

Does anyone remember the bbs game "bordello"? You used to pimp women and score smack... 12 year old me thought it was awesome

#628 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

the infastructure is in place per se. Homepin has been in china for years manufacturing pinball and non pinball products. Wages, equipment, etc etc will all be in chinese currency not usd/aud. He has stated he will not be using bws/stern parts but making all his own.
it has to be an established designer for a first game from a new player. New designers/ideas would be great but are apprentices as such being taken on by the industry for this to come to fruition?

If he is making all his own parts then the infrastructure isn't really in place.

#630 10 years ago
Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

point taken. The factory, machinery and labour are so i guess we are both right and wrong at the same time.

I meant more of the die's the moulds, the boards, etc.. If he isn't using bws parts then he will have to source things from elsewhere and design things like flipper mech's, trough, etc.. All that stuff takes money and doesn't really have much to do with china. That's all design. And a game designer isn't an EE most of the time and isn't a mechanical engineer for mech's

For a pinball machine you need:

A game designer
A mechanical engineer (not normally the same as the designer)
An electrical engineer
A software developer
An artist
A sound guy

That's at a bare minimum.

The manufacturing ability still requires setup of a line, training, tooling, etc. I literally mean besides the workforce I don't think any infrastructure is in place.

Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

You've never seen a forum be black cock bombed? It's not a vein threat, see what I did there son?

Uhhh no.. i can't say I have. I've been on internet forums for like 18 years and i've thankfully never seen that

#666 10 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Like Alex, I've been on forums for a long time, back to my own BBS in the mid 80s. Never seen a black cock attack.
I've seen tons of shit go down on 4chan, I've even been brave enough to investigate space dicks, lol.
That's hilarious though.

ROFL!!!!

You went to /r/spacedicks? You must be permanently scarred.

And for those that don't know it's not a place for space detectives.

#668 10 years ago
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

The plus side is now I can watch things like 2girls1cup and japanese eel porn like they were sesame street.

Gross... I have no idea what Japanese Eel porn is but i'll have to use my imagination. No way i'm googling that. HAHA

Sneek peek of the shipping box.

BWAAHAHAH i nearly wet myself.

#702 10 years ago

Can we get the acronym for this game added?

TBAG = Thunder birds are go

#712 10 years ago
Quoted from PopBumperPete:

Why do you care?
I cannot see you buying one

Of course not. I'm in the states and that makes me blacklisted. You know us over here in the colonies are on Mikes shit list.

#713 10 years ago
Quoted from Crash:

Nor can you see hundreds of others buying one!

Lol that's the truth.

Coming from china it's likely to have parts by Wally Billiams

#718 10 years ago
Quoted from BloodyCactus:

the level of ignorance from that list is kinda sad. even if I moved back home to aus I'd not buy one. nothing like cutting ya nose to spite ya face.
guess we shouldnt tell him every cpu used by a pinball machine (except that funky gotlieb system 1 rockwell shite) has been used in a home computer (6502, 6809, 68000, arm, etc). shakes fist at those goddamn unreliable scary PC parts.

And DMD's are so much more reliable than lcd's. he's just clueless which we have all pointed out in this thread before. The fact he is harping on the idea of embedded is more reliable than "PC" is comical. Ill solder an intel proc and some memory to a motherboard and guess what? You have embedded.

For someone who's whole previous business was selling replacement boards for him to tout their robustness is contradictory to his revenue stream.

This could put Australia back on the map.

Assuming it was actually built in Australia and not China. But alas...

#775 10 years ago
Quoted from Atomicboy:

This whole topic got way out of hand with many not understanding the popular title in Australia, and homepin just getting way too defensive and going way too far with his comments.
It's a pinball machine idea. Why don't we just close and delete forever this train wreck of a thread and start a new one fresh, whether you're on board or not, it doesn't and shouldn't have to be like this.

Maybe because he pissed in the cheerios of every one of us Yankees. You know, the biggest pinball market?

Quoted from FatAussieBogan:

Looks like we got ourselves a wise guy. Think old mike will struggle with all the boutique pins coming out, cutting off the entire continent of north America and no apparent imput from any established pinball designers. He's gone all out on a new factory in the PRC so let's hope he at least breaks even.

It's not his factory.

Like renting a car and saying "Check out my new XXXXX"

Quoted from Atomicboy:

Wow Alex, coming from someone who gets quite offensive over people's comments on WOZ, that's a little hypocritical isn't it? He over reacted, as you have before as well over the same type of thing, comments against a machine you have a stake in. I don't believe homepin has received a ban to date either.
There was some crap on both sides, his comments I'm sure were regrettable after the fact, what I'm saying is let's just drop the whole old thread and start a new one, and let those that are happy with it continue in that fashion.

Go back and read the original comments he made. He targeted woz specifically and went on an unintelligible tirade about pc's and showed his lack of knowledge on the topic. A bunch of us explained to him he was wrong, myself, Keith, a bunch of other tech savvy folks here. That's what pissed him off and he told us Americans to shove it.

Instead of saying "I was wrong and wasn't up on the topic" he went nuts and then starting posting lies and crap on Aussie forums as if this wasn't a public Internet and it wouldn't be seen. Sorry he's full of it. Has nothing to do with JJP.

But I'll bow out of this... I don't have the time nor the patience for this stuff any longer.

#781 10 years ago

I like the theme. It's different. Not from my generation and I hadn't heard of it in any real detail but it seemed interesting. I equated it to team America as that's the only use of marionettes I knew of. Other folks ripped the theme to shreds.

The boards discussion was another thread. A woz thread that homepin chimed in on out of nowhere admonishing pc's.

#782 10 years ago

Here it is:

post:

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/woz-behind-the-curtain/page/2#post-900657

Read the skewering by all the tech folks to follow. That was the start of everything. He came into a woz thread to spew propaganda knowing in a few weeks he was going to be creating this title. All he did was show folks he really wasn't that clued in

-1
#809 10 years ago

What personal attack? I never personally attacked you. Please paste a link because one doesn't exist. Many others have. I have my feelings about your lack of tech ability but that's not a personal attack. You said it yourself, You're a dinosaur (your own words btw)

I think you know absolutely nothing about modern electronics and the thread posted above is proof of that. And so far in a year we have had zero pc component failures so you were wrong about that (surprise surprise). Again that's not personal.

-11
#840 10 years ago
Quoted from Homepin:

Last time I looked calling someone a "dickbag" and "you are full of shit" and "lying dinosaur" all in the one post pretty much amounts to a personal attack - but you might have different morals to me......so you are not only a liar but a bad one at that...

pinchroma.jpg 80 KB

Lol that was 6 months ago and look at the lies you wrote starting that post after you were pretty much bitchslapped here for not knowing what you are taking about. You aren't showing the whole thread. Haha whatever.

Doomed to fail.. Support from just your fellow countryman isn't enough to survive. Even the folks at Dutch pinball are selling this side of the pond. They aren't making crap in china and apparently and are able to make it work.

Enjoy the mediocrity and obsolescence.

And to Crash, I don't.

#846 10 years ago
Quoted from rommy:

I would like to know why Alex Levy is being so rude here. It's like this guy stole his doughnut hole - is that what happened? Did his witty bitty doughnut hole get taken by the bad bad pinball man? LMFAO this stuff is great. This guy supposedly is a rep for JJP and THIS is JJP tech support attitude ? To think his baby negative attitude does not bleed into his entire life, including tech support , is To be really naive. Scary.

Read threads here and on Aussie pinball. He started bagging on JJP mercilessly weeks before announcing his own pin I guess trying to capitalize on something. And that bagging included straight out lies and incorrect information stated as fact. Myself, Keith, and a bunch of others called him out on it and he contines to spew the BS and lies. Even in his starting post above with his company update he contines about how unreliable our games are. Sorry but this is on him. I'm not and never will going to roll over and spread purposeful lies about a product.

And I'm not doing tech support.

#851 10 years ago
Quoted from TaylorVA:

Shake hands and walk away.

Done. Like I said earlier I personally like the theme and it's a shame I won't make it here because I want to play one.
