I picked up a beautiful Gottlieb Circus tonight from another Pinsider and I knew going in that the MPU needed work or replaced, so I was not surprised to see some bad acid damage when we opened it up. I got a fair price for it in such nice condition, that I was planning on buying a new MPU from somewhere if needed.
However, the connectors are shot and there is some corrosion on most of the pins. On the board and connectors both.
This is where I need some advise and help. First of all, looking at the picture below, does the acid damage look unrepairable? I have never had to deal with it before so if it looks repairable, I will have to research how to get it cleaned up. If the MPU is shot or not worth dealing with, which MPU replacement would you guys suggest?
The second and probably more important issue is I need to replace either the pins or the entire connectors for all of the MPU connectors and a few of the others. Is there a System 80 guy or gal here that can hold my hand in helping me get the correct connectors, pins and crimper needed to get this all fixed up? Buying Molex connectors makes my head spin and I seem to always get something wrong. I would like to buy from Great Plains Electronics if possible. I have been needing to get a crimper anyways. So, if anybody could help me out with placing an order for that stuff it would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks
