Quoted from Manny65:

Exported games often didn't have the service port wired in however it is possible to fit one if you need

Thanks, I did not know it was possible !!

I'll try to find a european equivalent, that would be more practical

Alternatively, anyone has experience on wiring a Meanwell PSU directly to main power input ? Need to find if it's easy to access the main power lines and splice the input

Cheers

[EDIT] Well I found all I need on Pinside and various sources. Hopefully the metal cover for my breakbox will allow me to route wire through or even better add the service outlet

The power box is the same on the export games except it'll simply have a plug in the hole where the service outlet clips in - so all you need is a couple of short heavy gauge wires and the service outlet to replicate how it was originally done

OK who is selling these on ebay for 499.00

Is the TZ monitor also moving to IPS like the Tron monitor? I’m 6’4” and the wife is 5’5” so it would be hard to find the perfect angle with a TN monitor.

Problem solved! Love this mod. Can’t wait to see what’s coming.

Finally had the time to install the mod

Just a few questions though: I feel the acrylic plastic piece over the ramp kind of gets in the way visually. I don't see any reason for this plastic piece, aside from protecting from airball, any comment ? Especially the one on the left which sits above the main piece, this one I really don't see the point of it.

The wiring for the flasher on the right is also mounted along the ramp itself, so it's an horizontal line in the middle of the screen. I'll try to move it down out of the way, anyone had done something similar ?

Cheers

I took mine right off. Looks awesome without it and I’ve had zero problems without it.

I just received (and installed mine) last night. Those issues (extra plastic and flasher wires) were the very first thing that stuck out at me. I am considering relocating the flashers entirely. That and the ramp I have is the smoked (original?) version and am considering the clear version for better visibility. However that's another $150 for a relatively minor upgrade.

That said, this mod is awesome. I'll be replacing a lot of the inbuilt videos and graphics to give it a much more "vintage" TZ feel.

Compy I read the guide and it seems simple to update assets, but based on the directory structure, it's clearly programmed for just specific actions on *very* specific sounds. Do you plan to expand the response list? Like pinsound does, acting on individual sound addresses? I absolutely love what this does but I really think it could be taken to the next level if a bit more of the underlying framework could be configured, like "for xxxx0005 sound = overlay xxxx0005.png at coordinates 300x120 for 5sec, fade=2sec" kind of deal. could *really* pump this thing up with some intricate custom themes...

If you've made any updates to the animations, I'd love to see them! I'm a noob when it comes to programming, but I love the idea of customizing this further. Would be very curious to hear about your progress so far!

#761 1 year ago

Can the stars display be removed/replaced? I have a spiral theme in my game that I’d like to continue and imagine the stars graphic could be removed but I’m still waiting on the display to arrive.

#762 1 year ago

I would be as well - I’ve been waiting to see if anyone starts posting updates. I’m not talented enough to program it but would chip in for the efforts

I see one on eBay for full price (499). I emailed them outside eBay and didnt get any response as to stock.

This looks super cool. I’m on the fence about the 500 though.

Thanks. I will check out the ebay listing. About the $500, me too being on the fence.

I offered them $450 on eBay (the same price listed on their website) and got crickets back. Messaged them on here as well asking if they'd be willing to budge on pricing and heard nothing back. Right now, I'd understand that they don't need to offer any discounts based on the demand, but still I didn't think it was unreasonable for them to honor the pricing from their own website. I ended up pulling the trigger still but it was disappointing that they simply choose to ignore my notes.

Yep, just got it installed last night. I added a spiral decal to the plastic cover to keep in theme with the side art, and think it came out pretty nice! Not the best photo but it'll give you the gist of how it came together.

Very cool and thanks. Any chance of a small video of it in action? This is purchased off of EBAY correct?

Good evening all,

We've gotten a ton of inquiries on Twilight Zone availability and I can provide an update:

As you may or may not know, we've been working the past several months on building and getting TRON orders out the door. We're now wrapping up core production of those units and moving onto the next game. During the TRON run, production on Twilight Zone units were halted in order to utilize common electronics components that are in very short supply.

With inventory under control and estimates getting better and better, we're going to re-run these. We've already run a batch for Pinball Inc that should ship Monday and be posted on their website within a few days. We'll also have units at the Texas Pinball Festival and then restock remaining inventory on the website.

We definitely appreciate the patience, and we're glad everyone is enjoying their unit!

Apologies for taking so long to get this posted and sorry it can’t be a better video in-general. It’s not easy filming and flipping! Obviously there’s way more animations than what you see here but after living with it for awhile I’m definitely happy with it. At first, I was worried it may be distracting but after a little while it becomes just a cool background feature. I likely will add some more animations IF anyone here gets around to making something really cool but as-is it’s still a nice add-on.

Attempting to install mine today and my ribbon cables do not mate to the adapter. Anyone had this problem before and know the solution?

It would seem that the connector was put onto the ribbon cable around the wrong way (180 degrees out), as the the red stripe (pin 1) on both cables lines up. That said I wouldn’t be swapping it around before discussing with Jimmy Compy just to be sure and not damage anything

Forgot to update my issue. I broke out the dremel and carefully sanded off the nub from my cable. Seemed the simplest solution and all is working well now. Game changing mod in my opinion.

That’s not unreasonable, but FWIW it’s really not THAT hard to use some small sharp tools to pop the “top” on one of those plugs, carefully peel the ribbon cable out of it, flip it, and press it back together with a small vice or even pliers. I’ve done it a few times and never had it be a problem. There are specialized tools for all this, but all they really do is speed it up and make it a tad harder to screw up, but if you take your time it’s really not bad to do them occasionally without the tools.

But your way worked, too, as long as you don’t forget and re-plug it in wrong next time! Ideally they’ll send you a replacement cable, though.

I am hoping the community can create some great contributions for this mod. I purchased the last one in stock on 86pixels last month. It is a game changer for sure, but could definitely use some polish and increased assets to fill out the modes. Town Square madness looks great, Clock Chaos is good, but many of the others could use some sprucing for sure.

100% agree. I love the mod but have been hoping someone would take the idea and run with it so I could be lazy!

Suggestion: take a look in virtual pinball world, specifically the so called "Tron PuP Pack".

It contains videos which are triggered by DMD event (which is exactly how Pinvision operate on Tron), for both regular 16/9 aspect ratio, but also ultra wide aspect ratio (the so called topper, which in vpin world is actually a video screen).

Video of the PuP Pack in action:

This content would apply well to Pinvision

Thanks for the hints! I imagine that info also applies to Twilight Zone so I will begin searching.

It’s a smart idea, I never considered looking at virtual consoles to see the animations being used. Definitely worth looking into!

TZ is somewhat different, in that Pup Packs on pincab are always triggered by DMD frame, whereas Pinvision on TZ is driven by sound commands.

But yes you could use the content as a basis
