Quoted from travmo123:

Is anyone else having trouble opening the URL for the ROM download?: http://www.sternpinball.com/USB_SW12.html
When I click on this link (on the http://www.pinballcode.com website), I get a page not found error (see screenshot).
Where else can I download this ROM?
Best,
- Travis

The file itself still seems to be on Stern's page.

I have a request in with the folks at Stern to get the link fixed. Ever since they did a web redesign a couple weeks ago, the link has been broken.

Or you could buy the rom from Chad

That is an excellent point! Thank you all for the quick responses on this thread!

Anyone have a working link for this code? Just picked up a star wars and wanted to update the rom but the link isn't working on sterns site. I"d appreciate it if someone could email me the file.

Thanks in advance!!!

#506 9 years ago

Go to www.pinballcode.com. You can purchase the roms there.

#507 9 years ago

I had a pinsider send it to me. I was really excited and just wanted to burn the rom. I'm going to shoot chad a donation anyway.

I hope it's sitting next to the request to upload the Jurassic Park ROM.

How can I thumbs up this 12 times?

Hi Chad, I've been checking the Stern download link on your website but it seems it's been down on the Stern side for a while...is there another mirror site? Thanks

#511 9 years ago

How do you update the rom?

#512 9 years ago

From one Chad (developer) to another Chad (developer)... nice work! I don't own a DESW, but might think about one now.

You also have me interested in tinkering with ROM disassembly.

Thanks but unfortunately both links are pointed to the Stern site and that page has been deleted, not sure why Stern took it down.

Ever since they redesigned their web site a few months back, the link has been broken. I am still in contact with them and awaiting resolution. I will post here once the link has been restored.

The second link worked last night. Weird.

It might have downloaded *something* last night, but I suspect it was just a blank zip rather than a real working one.

I took a quick shot at tracking down these files again this morning, but didn't have any luck.

It appears that the updated DESW code was added to the Stern site on or around 12/25/12, so a properly motivated person can check here: http://tinyurl.com/stern-is-a-bit-poopy
all the way back between now and 12/25/12 (which appears to mean 1/14/13 on the archive site), dig through the support/code links, find something that works, and report back.

I just have to say... thank you again Chad for saving this game. I love it so hard still... opening the deathstar early and then making the shot, and then getting double jackpot in triball, and the MUSIC CHANGES TO THRONE ROOM.

There is no better feeling in pinball.

Also, I highly recommend setting the game to award no moons per ball unless you have mostly casual players playing it. When balls award moons the risk/reward of opening the deathstar early is diminished quite a bit.

My pleasure. Thanks for all your great suggestions.

I totally agree on the Tri-ball. I've said it before and I'll say it again... the build up and achievement of Tri-ball along with the building of the jackpot and then hitting the jackpots in DESW is one of the best sequences in all of pinball. The music, the sound effects, the lights, the animations.

One more question, sorry for my ignorance, my first rom burning experience, there are 5 files U7, U15, U17, U21 and the Cpu104, do I burn each on the same rom one by one or am I supposed to do something differently?

Edit: Never-mind figured it out.....thanks again!

Is there a place to download the Star Wars 1.04 CPU rom file?
Stern's website does not have it. They have removed everything
prior to whitestar!

#522 9 years ago

Edit: Sorry, didn't realize Chad didn't have it for direct download.

You can get it directly from Chad:

http://www.pinballcode.com/

Can someone send me the file for 1.04 code update? Thanks.

#526 8 years ago

it is available at http://www.pinrepair.com/de/roms/starw104.zip
(since it has disappeared from all other places.)

Sheesh, how hard is it to put a file up for download? Or are there copyright policies inhibiting where it can be hosted?

2 months later
#528 8 years ago

Yes. Potentially copyright issues. Chad is a stud and I bought one retail (pinballife, I think) and sent him a donation anyway. Great guy and very helpful.

Anyone using chads code and a pinsound board? I'm wanting confirmation that this works. I imagine it would, but not knowing all of what's going on under the hood, I'm a little worried.

Chad, just wanted to say thank you for this update. I have had my DESW for about 15 years, and while I loved the game 95% of my goal was just hitting it up the ramp as much as possible. This completely changes the way the game as played and makes it a lot more enjoyable. Well done!

Glad to hear you like it.
Speeder Mode would be a tough one to do. But it sure would be cool if it was possible.

So how much of a go fund me do we need in order for you to get Speeder Mode working?

#532 5 years ago

I’m in for $50

#533 5 years ago

I’m in for at least that. Hopefully Chad will chime in with a number.

Speeder Mode! Speeder Mode!

I received Chad's latest and just watched videos on how to pry out and replace the rom. I also just received my NVRAM I assume both of these will wipe everything out and reset the pin. Or does Chad's have new default settings right away? Or should I try to figure out what my old one's are before doing this?

#536 5 years ago

I think your setting will be reset to default. There’s not many. Free play. Advertizing for rocket and bulwinkle, etc.

#537 5 years ago

oh cool, ok. Wait, wow, so you can take that bulwinkle ad off of there, I'll check into that... as always, thanks again paynemic
