Thanks again VID for keeping this going!
It is now ordering time for the AFM wire ramps.
You can get them in stainless if you want to polish them, or regular steel if you want to powder coat them, black nickel plate them, or whatever.
These will only be available this one time, so if you are building an AFM, a swapable MM/AFM cabinet, or just want the pair of unobtainium AFM ramps to powder coat fluorescent green, this is it.
$250 for both ramps, $15 USA shipping.

Make sure you state you want the AFM ramp set in the Paypal message.
Quoted from misfitdart:I'm new to this pinball world and when I got into it I had no idea of the cost of a few of these top ten titles,I'm curious is it possible for a new MM OR TOTAN or etc...to be made now? I would drop $8000 on a NIB MM in a hearbeat over a beat one for 10k+,it seems that stern can make a hefty profit on $7500 AC/DC after all the licensing and r&d you would think that the profit margin would be higher on a older title or am I out to lunch on this?
If the mods aren't gonna shut this shit down...

Shut what down this thread for people building their own machines?
Why would the mods shut down a thread about people building their own machines?
There is nothing illegal about it.
If you can't afford an AC Cobra, you can build your own. Hell, you can make it faster than the original was.
People have been building their own AFM and MM for a few years now. Wally documented his build in a great thread, and even gave a presentation at an expo.
Quoted from PinsRfun:Any updates on the metal ball guides?
Sam
The first run was laser cut and installed, but I've not heard back yet on how they look in the mirror finish.
I've been on the East Coast, so things are moving in slow motion - but moving none the less...
Quoted from PinsRfun:Are you taking names down for the MM metal guides? I'm in for a set for sure. I think the only missing items left is a few lamp boards for me and I should theoretically have access to or have all the parts.
I'll just announce it here rather than some formal email list.
Here is the guy's website that is making the ramps:
http://www.rollingballsculpture.com/pinball-track-fabrication/
I got about 20 emails asking...
I have one set of brand new clear plastic NOS "triangles" for the bottom of the ramps for sale if anyone is interested. These are the ones that get rivited onto the ramp above the thin metal flaps that screw down to the playfield.
I bought one of the last pair of them new when Wayno's debacle was going on because he did not have the rights to produce them, so we had to supply them to him for installation. $45 with shipping...PM me if interested. I have no idea if anyone is reproducing them at this time or not. I got more than that in them with shipping to me, then shipping to OZ, then shipping them back to me.
Quoted from PinsRfun:Figure I'll post in the original thread. Any updates on the metal ball guides, vid?
Thanks,
Sam
I've been stuck working on the road for months, so I can't get any traction getting stuff done lately.
Housekeeping calls my room the "mad scientist's lab" or the "toxic waste dump" with all the desoldering, Oscopes, parts bins and plywood laid over the room's desk.
Do any of you guys work with a laser cutter at work?
Cliffy? You seem to be set up not only for cutting the guides, but accepting payment, shipping ect.....
So now we need a reality check:
1. Go to your local Harbor Freight and "test" out their Slip Rolls.
2. Organize a few regional "bending parties" and gather together at someone's garage who has a Slip Roll. (could be fun)
3. Have Cliffy send the entire lot to a fab shop and have them all rolled at once. This adds to cost (shipping, rolling, return shipping).
How about just bringing a sliproll to different events?
Expo, Cal Extreme, GLTP......
Didn't you say that you were going to build a few of these "on the spot" at Expo?
Quoted from cichlid:How about just bringing a sliproll to different events?
Expo, Cal Extreme, GLTP......
Sure, I could bring a slip to a few of the Eastern events.
Quoted from cichlid:Didn't you say that you were going to build a few of these "on the spot" at Expo?
Yes. If I had a capable helper I could assemble one or two on the spot.
Maybe we could find someone with a good video skills and make a series of "how to" videos? Any interest?
Quoted from cichlid:If you have a sliproll, why don't you just roll them for all of us?
I've got enough people mad at me for projects I started before getting shipped out of state by my employer.
If I'm back home by the time Cliffy has them cut, I can roll them.
But I'm not going to take on any more work or make any promises until I'm sleeping in my own bed.
Pinbits sells the ramp triangles for anyone who needs them.

Isn't there just the guide by the catapult and the right ramp divertor that needs bending by a sliproll? Can't the others like the outer loop guides be bent as you screw them into place on the playfield?
Sam
Quoted from TigerLaw:What is the status on this project? Has anyone finished one yet?
Wow!!! Post some pics for us please!
I did not read all 300+ posts. Are MM for sale ? And who would I contact/ Thanks Rob
Quoted from RobKnapp:I did not read all 300+ posts. Are MM for sale ? And who would I contact/ Thanks Rob
None of these are for sale. People who want them are entirely building their own expressly not for sale is my understanding.
Quoted from RobKnapp:I did not read all 300+ posts. Are MM for sale ? And who would I contact/ Thanks Rob
Nope, you've got to put them together yourself.
I think this thread is a bit misleading - it sounds like Vid is leading an effort to build games. My understanding is that he's just talking about individuals who are building their own.

Right, I've been working on the road for many months, so I'm not leading any charges, nor building any games for sale.
I'm glad to help anyone who wants to build a game.
Holy smokes!
Quoted from Concretehardt:Holy smokes!
Holy smokes indeed. I had no idea any were finished beyond the one done a couple years ago. This is very exciting stuff. Would love to play one in person some day.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Would love to play one in person some day.
If you think about it, you already have.
Every time you have played a "restored" MM game (like a HEP), you have actually played an almost completely new game.
Think that these items are often NO LONGER ORIGINAL :
Cab
Legs
Glass
Side Decals
Translight
Playfield
Plastics
Pops & Brackets
Flippers & Brackets
Coils
Castle
Drawbridge
Dragon & Wings
Speakers
DMD
Lamps replaced with LEDs
Switches
Flipper buttons
Side rails
So what's left of the original MM?
Wiring Harness
Ball guides
Transformer
Circuit Boards (if not replaced with Rottendog)
Light Boards
Wire Ramps
Not too much, eh?
Here is another guy who has almost finished his LITERALLY "built from scratch" MM:

Wow...the price went down since I bought mine! Will now sell my new ones for $25 shipped. They sure arn't doing me any good sitting on the shelf.
Wow the OP has SICK prediction skills. Even hit the price on the head of what he was willing to pay.

Ha I just read my original post, I should have tried to guess the lotto numbers that day lol
