Code update is pretty cool. Seems to be a few new sounds and call outs as well??

Has anyone noticed and phantom hammer hits? I never used to have any and had 2 phantom hits in one game.

I manually got into Blackened mode (glass off) seemed to just keep going and going and going until the ball drained. Lighting effects were awesome, didn't have a chance to really look at the animations properly but what I saw looked impressive as well.

Heaps easier getting balls locked in the coffin as has already been mentioned.

I am throwing it out there that Metallica is one of if not the best pins of all time and certainly the best Stern machine I have played. Love it.

Throw your old highscores out the window with this code update. Scoring is much easier and you can't really compare them to the old scores.

I am definitely getting alot of phantom hammer hits though, even with the coffin stacking turned off. Prior to this update I hadn't had any issues at all with phantom hits. I actually like the machine with the coffin stacking off. It keeps the speed and flow of the game going.

If anyone is thinking about whether to get a Metallica machine - you'd be mad not to. If you can afford the extra $$$, the Premium is well worth it. Whatever the model though, you won't go wrong with it. I wouldn't be surprised if Metallica ends up outselling ACDC in the end.

Looks like the game code on the Stern website is back up and running. I was able to download it using Firefox without any probs.

I don't think that has anything to do with the code update. Sounds more like a dead LED in one of the LED blocks which then knocks out an entire line. It is repairable, you just have to replace the 8x8 LED block that has the dead LED in it. If the machine is still under warranty, it should be repaired or replaced under warranty. Same thing happened to me and it was fixed without any issues.
