Quoted from Lovef2k:

Will there be or is there a new Maverick being made? Wife wants to know

The only source of "remakes" is CGC, and Doug Duba, the man in charge there, selects which title is remade with an eye to sales potential and manufacturability. While CGC could probably build Maverick if they were so inclined, expecting the title to generate brisk sales would be harebrained. Also, CGC seems to favor Williams games for remakes as they have a relationship Planetary Pinaball, which owns the rights to those games and can license them to CGC for a price. The Maverick license would come from whoever currently has the rights to Data East games, and I can't guess who that might be because Data East is now Stern - sort of. If your wife loves the game, your only option in all likelihood will be to find a solid original example.

Quoted from Electrocute:

Maverick was a decent car in the day. Chevy Vega was it’s competition. I drove a Datsun B-210. [quoted image]

The Maverick/Vega was small and had some nice lines. I think it was a quite cheap though - both in cost and build quality. Not unlike the lowly Pinto. I *think* you could order it with a 302ci V-8. I believe the standard configuration was a 3-speed manual. I don't know if you could order it with a 4-speed. In the 90's I tinkered with a '74 AMC Hornet. I put a 304 in it. It started life as a straight-six.
