Quoted from rommy:It's real, been listening to the podcast. Quite a leap he is taking here. I guess now we must all wait to see who will be the first to fail. Surely we can't go from one to ten pinball makers and all survive. Bad management is bound to get someone.
How can we as hobbyists and collectors ensure we do not end up in a Wayne/MM situation? How do I make sure I don't get burned - and by burned I mean send money to a company that never produces product and cannot repay me ?
edit: other than the obvious "never pre-order" answer please
You can minimize your risk by investing in the companies that either have a solid history of making games, i.e. Stern, or a company that is very open about the development of their product, i.e. Skit-B Pinball, JJP, Quetzal, etc.
In the end, the only way to truly protect yourself 100% is to wait for a physical machine, see it in person, play it and then buy it.
