Congrats Gerry, fantastic stuff. Any chance there's a P3 at Banning this weekend?

I don't know of one going to Banning. There will be one at Chicago Expo and a bunch in Houston.

Hi Gerry

Any way that you can let techs access installation instructions on your website without having to log it with google or facebook? Had a customer want me to install the new LCD into the game and couldn't access the directions from my phone because of this log-in wall? What's the point?
Anyway I got it physically installed and powered up with the DVI cable connected to the motherboard, but there was no data going to the display. Not sure what update is needed for the next step as there were no directions shipped in the kit either.

Thanks
Kris

Flip N Out Pinball will have a P3 with Lexy installed at the upcoming Louisville Arcade Expo. Buy the show game or order a NIB from us to pick up at the show. That way you can configure it the way you want it. Put Cosmic Racing in it or Cannon Lagoon or ? New graphics and the new display. This is really the best blend of physical and virtual pinball. Plays like a pinball but with the abilities of virtual pinball to change the images. Not to mention the ease of changing the physical playfield

Hi Kris,

I just happened across this thread just now. Feel free to email us at [email protected] any time for more eyes and hopefully quicker response.

Our support site is designed to handle multi-level access to all kinds of customer and developer resources for the full P3 ecosystem. The software we found that was the best fit for our needs requires users to log on to access any of the support resources. So it's just a quirk of the software, nothing beyond that. Registering is simple and free, and you don't have to use google or facebook; you can also click the "sign up" link at the bottom of the sign in page. You'll actually need an account anyway so you can download signed versions of your customer's purchased applications to install updates. Just have your customer email us with your account ID to give us permission to add you as a manager for his machine. Then you'll be able to visit https://www.multimorphic.com/account/software to build and/or download all of his app updates.

Nice job doing the physical install without instructions. It's not super complicated, but there are a couple of places where brackets can be misaligned if you don't know exactly where they should go. We didn't include instructions in the shipment because we were still finishing the instructions when the first shipments of displays went out. So we included an insert with links to the documents instead. Incidentally, using QR codes for the links wasn't a great choice, as revisions to the documents change the links. So, sign up for an acct and go here for all of our technical docs: https://www.multimorphic.com/support/projects/customer-support/wiki/User_Manuals_and_Technical_Documentation

I'd attach the docs here, but I don't want them to be out of date if we need to make changes. It's always best to reference the docs on the site.

Why you get nothing on the display yet... the stock OS installed on P3s prior to the first shipments of backbox displays didn't have support baked in for the 2nd display. So for those machines, you'll need to re-image the machine with the latest operating system image and then re-install the apps. The latest versions of the apps all display *something* on the backbox display. Some display just the translites. Others, like CCR, use the display for dynamic content. Instructions for re-imaging the machine are on that same technical documentation webpage.

As always, feel free to contact us any time for help or more information.

Oh, and if you plugged the DVI into the motherboard instead of the video card, that's another reason you wouldn't get any video to the display. The instructions point you to the correct port. It's the port on the video card next to the HDMI port that the primary playfield LCD uses.

Nice Job designing the brackets. After looking at the shape and seeing that they were symmetrical I surmised how I would have designed them to fit with not needing any measurements for the customer to install. I test fit them and it was correct. You'd be amazed at how many mods are not made that way!!!

Thanks, I'll pass that along to TJ. Yep - the goal was to make it simple... slide it forward until it stops (against the wood), slide it up until it stops (against the metal bracket), screw it in.

Got mine all set and running today. I assume (hope) that scores and stuff will be added to display on here? I get a lot of people that mention they dont like not being able to see the scores of everyone else. Looks great though. By the way, what if we want the old version of Lexy? I actually really like that one, and I do have all the cabinet art.

#29 5 years ago

Yep, Lexy with dynamic backbox content (scoring and effects) is coming soon. It's TBD whether we add dynamic content to other existing games, but we'll definitely be adding dynamic content to all future full game kits.

Being able to select the older Lexy translite is an option we're considering adding too. It depends on whether or not the translite works well with all of the new dynamic content.

Another vote for getting original translite art for Lexy displayable with the backbox lcd.. maybe I’m in the minority but like the original art.

Also posed a question for you Gerry on the GSR announcement.

I had tix to hit tpf this year and a show pass and was really pumped to play linked CCR and meet you as well — only to realize last week I had double booked the weekend and had to cancel my trip. Bummed but I’ll make it down there one of these years.
