Has there ever been talk of releasing a modern version of the KISS pinball machine? They license their name out to everything, so it surprises me that they never did another machine. The 1970's version is the machine that got me interested in pinball as a kid and was the first one I ever bought. Just think of some of the cool stuff Stern could do with their modern playfield technology and lighting. I'm imagining a giant Gene Simmons head, with a long tongue ramp!

I sure hope not

#3 10 years ago

me too.

#4 10 years ago

I hope they Kiss that idea goodbye.

#5 10 years ago

I highly doubt it. When's the last time KISS attracted a new fan? 1982?

#6 10 years ago

Oh come on guys, if it looked cool I'd give it a fair chance. Ed

#7 10 years ago

Problem is that KISS would want to use Eric and Tommy in the makeup on the backglass and playfield; diehards like myself wouldn't buy it just because of that reason alone. Might not be a more divisive machine ever released if that one came out.

#8 10 years ago

Life has taught me to never say never. But I truly would be surprised if Stern would invest in a pin for Kiss, a 3rd rate Relics of Rock band, whose last vestige of creativity occurred in the mid 70's. Gene Simmons has the likeability of a snail.
With so many good bands so choose from, it would be nothing less than astonishing if they troll the bottom of the barrel to the point of having to settle for a band such as Kiss.

+1,000...........Eric and Tommy are great guys, but no way do I want to see them on anything Kiss. Heck, I would take Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick over Tommy and Eric. F$#K Gene, I am a huge Kiss fan, but I am not buying anything kiss unless I see Peter and Ace on it!! That a$$ would get in a time machine if he could and rewrite history and leave Ace and Peter out just so he could pocket more money.

It didn't go because gene wanted a 3k a machine liscencing deal.

Saved us all lol

Somebody would have to pay me $3K per machine to make a KISS game.

Wow 3k per machine to greedy stern would pass that on so NIB would be far to expensive.

Not necessarily. The Kiss slot machine has the solo album paintings on it. Those are Ace and Peter.

Kiss owns the makeup and likenesses, but not the names 'Ace Frehley' or 'Peter Criss'. That's why you see a lot of their stuff referred to as Starchild/Spaceman/Catman/Demon.

Man, I know an embarrassing amount of info about this.

#15 10 years ago

I don't care for Kiss either, but thumbs down a guys post about it? Why?

#16 10 years ago

Not my cup of tea but if this is your dream machine. I hope they make it.

#17 10 years ago

I think it could be interesting.

Who the hell wants to buy a pinball machine with a backglass of overrated rockers that collect AARP and dress like Liza Manelli?

Yeah yeah yeah let the negatives flow, baby. Kiss sucks.

#19 10 years ago

Kiss does suck the big one but I can honestly say that a Kiss pin would be light years better than an Iron Freakin' Maiden pin would be (one of the few bands that sucks worse than Kiss).

lol

#20 10 years ago

If another rock pin has to be made, I think Led Zeppelin or a modern group like the Black Keys or Queens of the Stone Age would be perfect choices.

#21 10 years ago

Just hope Stern doesnt eff up another rock band like The Rolling Stones

#22 10 years ago

Actually thought the same thing about a new Kiss machine and how awesome that could be.
The idea of Genes tongue as a ramp is brilliant OP! Maybe a Paul figurine that zip lines across crowd to a mini stage like he does in concert would also be a cool LE type feature.
Kiss has Rocked sold out arenas for the past 40 years and still do to this day. Caught their live show on Palladia channel this past year and was completely blown away-something I didn't expect. AC/DC's success in Pinball with the boring ass show they put on after 30+ years really does make it easily matchable by Kiss and the breathtaking Circus Rock show they bring. Not sure if Stern could pull this off as LCD screen footage of show highlights like Gene in the Scaffolding doing God of Thunder and Ace's smoking guitar sequence are a must. So maybe Jersey Jack?
Only question left is how they would replicate the blood and fireballs on the playfield!

Amazing how many Kiss haters there still are. I've heard all that garbage since I saw my first incredible, amazing Kiss concert in 1975, and and 40 years after this iconic, and influential band formed, they are finally, and so well deserved, being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. A group that has 24 gold and 20 platinum albums, and is still in 2014 the best live act ever. I really hope they never try to recreate a new version of Kiss Pinball. I love the classic machine, and the band. And to the haters: "Kiss my Ass"!

Because they didn't agree with the post, maybe? That's what the thumbs are supposed to indicate, agreement or lack thereof.

A modern band is not a possibility as these days there are no super groups that would command a world wide audience. Nirvana or oasis(not sure if they were big in the states) would be about as modern as you could go.

There are one or two individual artists with tremendous international appeal but none of those translate into a pinball that pinball people would buy.

I don't mind their music but I wouldn't say I'm a fan. I did hear them(on tv) at dodgers stadium before the ice hockey game and they sounded terrible.

If stern did do a kiss it would definitely been an improvement on the most over priced boat anchor in all of pinball.

#28 10 years ago

Saw them in '77 and '78 with original line up. They had the best live show then, and video from the Zurich Switzerland concert from 2013 World tour proves, still do. Gene is a business man who has merchandised his bands products Worldwide like no other band has even dreamed. If someone were to show him a WOZ and what Pinball has evolved to, he may get it,and understand Pinball is not dead, and there is still a market for it.
Here's the tracks I would use:
1. Rock N Roll All Night
2. God of Thunder
3. Detroit Rock City
4. Deuce
5. Love Gun
6. Strutter
7. Love Gun
8. Black Diamond
9. Lick It Up
10. Firehouse

Kiss had its day (and pinball machine). There are others currently more worthy.

A new KISS pinball? Well the possible gameplay features offer many unique options, getting Gene's blessing or cursing . . . pick one . . . would seem to me to be the biggest challenge. After all these years I'm sure they have enough of a fan base to justify at least one production run. What company would want to tackle that theme with all that ego involved? Who knows . . . $$$ talks, if there's enough in it for everybody, break out the fire retardant suits and let's get started building KISS 2.0.

You should hold out for a Blue Oyster Cult pinball, with "More Cowbell" multiball and "There Goes Tokyo" hurryup.

#32 10 years ago

Man, imagine the possibilities for cool interactive toys in a Gwar pinball machine!

#33 10 years ago

I can only answer the question in your OP with a 'yes'

(Actually, this thread leads to that very answer!)

One can only dream . . . I'm afraid father time has passed for this classic band to have it's own pin game unless it's a homebrew . . . . lots of great tunes for modes . . . pinch some album artwork cues here and there . . . then kick back with some wicked multiball play while remembering where and when you first heard those songs . . . Excuse me I'm starting to choke up in a nostalgic time warp. Back to reality now. . . I'm in for a preorder (BOC not KISS) !

I just put this on my game room wall, so I think you know my vote.

But it would have to be with Ace and Peter.... I wouldn't buy a thing with Tommy and Eric.

Now THAT is awesome! I've had these four posters since they came individually in the KISS solo albums. I've never put them up, but now maybe I will!

Thanks man! I love it. Once I finished off the game room, I put up a bunch of my old Kiss posters. There is only so much wall space, so I had to be very selective. If you frame up the solos, make sure you have enough room. Framed up that sucker is 6 feet wide. 6 feet wide of awesomeness though.

It's funny we think of Oasis as a "modern" band, when they are over 20 years old.

Nirvana is over 25 years old.

Quoted from karmalord:

So maybe Jersey Jack?

JJP is too PG-13 to really give KISS all the debauchery it would need to do it justice.

Stack up lines of coke for the Spaceman to take off.

Fill the freezer with Gin for the Cat to punch out his landlord.

Demon multiball with Gene getting arrested for public exposure.

Help Paul shop for blouses.

If someone fearless like Python designed the game, it could be a friggin' blast.

#41 10 years ago

I think i still have original Kiss gum cards, were you can make a poster with them. They sent me a couple of guitar picks once. Saw them first, when i was in 6th grade. Kiss Alive II maybe??

But no.. they had their pin.

#42 10 years ago

The band (Paul and Gene) want way too much for their licensing rights. They also want it up front regardless of how well the product sells. I have an old one would love a new but can say will probably never happen.

The first concert I ever went to was Kiss in 1975 at the Harrisburg Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg, PA.

It was cool back then. Guys dressed-up like girls breathing fire and singing 3-chord songs about banging chicks and partying all the time.

But after you moved past the smoke and mirrors, there wasn't a whole lot there artistically. It was more of a shock value marketing ploy than anything that could ever be considered art. Sort of like Miley Cyrus is today.

Hey, whatever makes the money!

I belive Kiss is a done deal waiting on LCD programing to catch up.

You're comparing Kiss to Miley Cyrus? You have officially lost your mind!

Once the "virus" is relevant for 5 decades for something other than child porn and sniffing bath salts I will concede they are similar. You have to give Kiss credit for that. It's nostalgic appeal for those who were fans when they were kids. Twisted sister tried the same approach and had no where near the staying power. Clearly I'm a fan of the original four and would be open to another pin.

I love all the KISS and especially Gene Simmons hate. But I'd much rather see a new KISS machine, than some boring Mustang one that's coming out. zzzzz.....

#50 10 years ago

I laugh everytime I see this topic pop up in the recent activity list. The idea that any one would even consider a modern KISS machine is just ridiculous. Its like starting a thread trying to get a big push behind a "Family Matters" pinball machine.

> Just think of some of the cool stuff Stern could do with their modern playfield technology and lighting.

Yeah just look at all the cool stuff they did with Musta... zzzz zzzz zzzzz zzzz
