Any response from the Stern team yet? Thats so odd....

I am still hoping for a WWE LE update! But so glad to see some of these "older" titles being worked on.
Quoted from Stones:Any response from the Stern team yet? Thats so odd....
Nothing yet. I emailed Chas and giving him a bit. If I don't hear back by tomorrow I will call but the game is at a vacation home and I won't be back until Friday. I wanted to make sure my problem is the same as others. It look like nothing else I have ever seen when updating any of my other games. I will try more USBs if that is what is necessary but this look like it may be some kind of other issue.

Ive had some different jump drives that Spike wouldnt recognize, but this seems very odd. Chas is a great dude!
After updating code my speaker lights don't change colors. They only stay flashing white
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix?

Have you tried re downloading the code from Sterns site?
Quoted from finnflash:Have you tried re downloading the code from Sterns site?
Like 15 times. On to different drives different folders. All my other updates work perfect, so I don't think it is user error at this point, but if it is I will report back.
Quoted from Edster:I take it no one else can get into the Game Specific test mode to test the spinning disc?
Nope, it's not available in the menu. Other bugs I've noticed in the only 3 games I've been able to play:
"You wanted the best you got the best..." audio track sometimes clips
Round "Army" insert at center ramp sometimes lights and stays lit while no award present
Quoted from metal-mods:Round "Army" insert at center ramp sometimes lights and stays lit while no award present
I'm not 100% on this, but when test-playing the new code this weekend I believe I noticed the "KISS" insert between the bumpers behaving the same way.
Quoted from metal-mods:"You wanted the best you got the best..." audio track sometimes clips
I have not noticed any clipping but I believe they have 2 versions of this...the higher pitched voice is from Alive and the lower pitch is from Alive II. I will see if I can notice any clipping as that could be happening too.
Quoted from metal-mods:Round "Army" insert at center ramp sometimes lights and stays lit while no award present
I have seen this several times. I am think it indicates when the shot multipliers are available as listed in the release notes. Need to test a bit more to be sure.
Now shot multipliers are available/lit by collecting a set of HurryUps (KISS and
ARMY). Previously they were lit by completing a mode.
Speaking of bugs, the extra ball insert still doesn't participate in all light shows. Minor for sure. Majority of the changes are great. The light show improved noticeably on the pro, I can only imagine how much better it looks on the prem/le. I am not totally sold on running the shaker for every switch hit during super scoring...
Quoted from SonicZone:I've never seen an update screen on SPIKE that looks like your 2nd pic (with that size lettering/font type). It should finish with what's in Stones pic above: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/new-kiss-code-v1400-is-here/page/3#post-4714371
You'll probably need to give Stern a call, because even if you had the old 1.30 code, I'm not sure it's possible to "roll back" on SPIKE/SPIKE 2 boards. At least that's what I've read.
they really need to have an recovery image / full SD card image for each game that you can download and clone to an SD card.

Thanks. Glad it's not just me.
Quoted from tacshose:I sold my KISS LE and still glad I did as I wouldn’t have wanted to wait this long and this is a great example of why I don’t buy Stern anymore. BUT, I am now excited to play the KISS on location near me as soon as it’s code is updated. Let me know brianbannon when it’s ready
Hey R. KISS LE #283 is kicking ass. The code update changed the entire game. Hope you are doing well. Still love this baby..
The light show has improved quite a bit on the LE, and I'm loving it! I don't think I realized there were white flashers between the red LEDs on the back panel until this code change. Awesome playing game that looks like a KISS show finally. I'm very pleased so far after only a few games
The "you wanted the best you got the best" call out made me jump for joy when I heard it! This game kills and the light show on the LE is spectacular! The game play is more challenging and feels like you are working to get the score vs. hammering around. Excellent update! Might have to send Stern a Christmas card!

Agree w both of these...It's like a new game..Great fun!!!
Quoted from Joe_Blasi:they really need to have an recovery image / full SD card image for each game that you can download and clone to an SD card.
I've sometimes wondered if there's any reason why you couldn't remove the SD card from the SPIKE2 CPU board (powered off, of course), save its contents using one of the many cloning/imaging tools available for Windows and/or Linux and then put the unmodified SD back into the game? This way you'd have a backup you could get that SD card -- and hopefully, the machine itself -- back to in the unlikely event a code update craps on you and your game won't boot [properly] afterwards. Would something like that work (and, more importantly, would you still have a bootable game if the SD card was in and out of the game like that, unmodified or not)?
Is there any grand payoff for finishing all the city combos? Would've been nice to have to finish all cities to unlock Detroit as a last mega-combo for the finisher and a huge score beyond what's coded. Minor thought...
KISS is going to be a classic.
The new code makes this game really shine. I hoped they would do something with the cities but this exceeded my expectations. Loving the instant info screens with all of the city combos listed. The modes are much more evenly balanced. I'm loving not starting with Deuce or Lick It Up.
Thanks Stern people!

I heard you can easily do this. Just make a clone of the SD card. Not sure what software was recommended but I know it will work. Just grab another 4GB SD and once cloned, use that and keep the original in a safe place. Let's see if we can get this going. Game must be off when you remove of course. I'll grab a few SD cards on the weekend and read up on a cloning software and post my findings unless someone out there has already figured this out. Not a bad idea to have a copy of the SD. If you can keep an imagine then that's just as good.

Is the premium the same physical game as the LE? Just the usual differences trim, backglass etc?
Quoted from foureyedcharlie:Somebody please make a Tron style replacement disc for Kiss. Would love to see that thing flinging the ball more.
I am looking for a KISS now as I have always looked at the layout and thought it looks super fun to shoot, just trying to workout it to go pro or Prem.
But I know the guys at pinballcenter who make the TRON discs as I’ve distributed those to plenty of pinsiders in the US, I can drop them an email about a KISS disc if there’s enough interest I’m sure that might interest them in producing one!?

I'd be in on a clear disc for sure...
Definitely try to snag one of these machines!!! Alot of fun, and new code really polished everything up...

KISS is one of the most fun games ever!
Shoots fantastic, although right ramp is tight.
Premium/LE - whilst not worth the extra money, the lightshow is epic.
I upgraded from pro to LE.
Zero regrets.

I'd do a clear disc too. Black disc is messy for sure.

that can work and maybe even code from different SPIKE2 may work in as well as an update base.
The game codes packs seem to be full installs (but not packaged to be boot from) and the SPIKE2 system can only boot from SD card.
The Windows and/or Linux ISO's are able to boot from cd/dvd and usb (but the system booting from them needs that in it's hardware / bios)
Just for repair down the road they really to have them or the very lead an mini sd card image that can update with an game code load. + any bios / firmware images
Other hardware like juniper SRX has the install images + the u-boot files with docs on how manually load them.

Fun game, but yeah, right ramp is a bitch! This is good for a home environment. Scoop is brutal with a protector as well. I also find that kiss has to be perfectly--and I mean perfectly-- level or the outlanes feel magnetized. Set up well, it's a great game. Can't wait to play the new code!

Agreed on all counts. I actually caved and removed my Mantis from the scoop. Increased my enjoyment of the game immensely! It's not wearing too bad.......yet

same; protector had to go. I figure a little bit of wear will only help me make the shot
So sad still no contact or help on how to get the new code updated. I will call stern tomorrow but nothing like having to wait years and then everyone else gets to open their presents and I have to sit and hear how awesome it is.
Quoted from resipsa:same; protector had to go. I figure a little bit of wear will only help me make the shot
I removed the protector as well.. To help alleviate some of the wear and tear, I apply some hard-as-nails clear around the scoop when I clean the machine. Let it cure, and it is good to go.
Loving this update. KISS was supposed to be the next pin to go from the collection, but now I am thinking I will hold on to it for a while longer.
Could someone give me a little break down on the physical gameplay differences between the Pro and Prem/LE?
Code is great but I can't handle the new versions of the songs. I have to replace them with Pinball Browser soon. The new song versions are just horrible.

This is one difference.
This mod is a must have. Lights up the back so you can see the ball.
Another difference. Proper 3 ball lock in Gene's head so they get spat out, instead of virtual lock.

That’s awesome! So glad it went to a great home, and happy to hear you are still rocking it out!
The new code seems great so far. My only complaint is that games seemed a little long before and now it is easier.
My first few games had scores in the 400s and multiballs such as Heavens on Fire and Kiss Army that we’re previosuly rare are now easy to achieve. Also had two EBs per game, when previously one seemed tough. As an operator, I’m glad an older title will get renewed interest and as a player fun to play a game through a new lens (the number of changes are huge)
The cities never bothered me before like some, but the addition of combos is fun. However, as someone who has lived in PittsburgH twice and visited many more times, the misspelling is a tragedy.
Kiss to me has been one of the better rock pins (before Iron Maiden). This code only makes it better.
Also great to see recent Stern updates to many of my games, but Ghostbusters is too long coming. Also seen a flipper issues (coil stops coming loose) on my newer Stern games (Iron Maiden and Batman) and heard others having same problems.

One of those extra balls after 5 combos?
Just adjust to 10 and game will be harder again.
KISS is a fantastic game now.
Can't wait for color dmd!
I'm having the same update issue. For some reason it says version 1.30 but says 1.33 real quick when trying to update. I cleared everything and no luck whatsoever trying to get the update to take. Tried several USB sticks. I think it is a board issue.
Any help would be great!

I emailed and never heard back. I was going to call but life has gotten in the way. Plan is to call first thing tomorrow morning. It is driving me nuts but I won’t even see my game until Friday so I am not missing time on it but I want the new code. Hopefully they can figure it out tomorrow.

I got mine to work. After 4 memory sticks I found a super old 2 GB one and surprisingly it worked. It was also FAT per the drive. Very strange that this code is so finicky.

all Stern code updates seems t have issues. Has taken me 4 plus sticks and reloads and tons of time to get multiple post Spike updates to work.

Good news you got it to work. Interestingly one of the usb’s I have always used defaults to fat. I have been changing it to fat32, maybe I will give it a shot as fat if I can’t get a hold of tech support.

Its all about the right USB stick you use. These spike machines are picky finicky dames, they only want the perfect sticks inside them. Its easier to satisfy a groupie then pleasing these spike bitches.
I am using the same USB I have used to update all my SAM games and that I used to update GB, and Iron Maiden but they no work. I had to use a different stick to update Deadpool because the file was too big for the 2GB. I hope I can get it to work this weekend I am dying for the new code.
