Thanks for the link. Before watching it, I was going to jokingly write "JD FS - $5,000", but now I'm hoping in the future I'll still be able to unload it for book if this thing doesn't completely destroy its worth....

What a flaming piece of shite that looks like.

Karl Urban is a good actor, but this movie looks horrible. It will devalue the already valueless JD pin even further if anything.

It DOES look completely horrible, but that's why I WANT to see it. Have you ever seen "The Punisher: Warzone?" Completely bad movie but it's so over the top stupid and bloody/gory it makes a fun watch!

At always rather see a crappy B movie version that just takes it way over the top over some hollywood star vehicle.

Actually, it got good buzz after a screening at San Diego Comic-con.

    *sigh...well that means nothing

Say what you want about JD.

I personally think the values are low due to the planet gearbox being a huge question mark on a routed/previously owned machine. I'll be enjoying a keeper JD out of the two I'm rebuilding, especially after having both gearboxes rebuilt by Steve Young.

No bs ... Karl Urban emailed me in Auckland a few months back about buying a pinball machine!

From memory he wanted a Judge Dredd (I have done up several...)

He was going away for a few months, supposed to come see me when he gets back to NZ.

I had no idea he was making a Dredd movie ....

    Cool!

Cool. Maybe soon our Judge's will command upwards of $15k USD!!! Ok, maybe $10k USD

    #10 11 years ago

I like JD also , Will Own it again , but the movie ,, out Run a mini-gun ,, Yea right !!

    Hahaha...

I laugh because it will, depending on a single shill bid Ebay auction, and 5 guys on Pinside saying "good deal".

I also wanted to secure the two I bought before it was common knowledge that another move was coming out (not that the pin is based off a movie in the first place....).

I'm looking forward to this because JD definitely needs to be rebooted. I definitely have a hatred for the Stallone version.

Fortunately the pin was based on the comic book and not the movie...

That looks worse than the first one! Hope it drives down the price so I can get one.

    #15 11 years ago

Personally I think it looks pretty decent, seems the problem with people's perceptions now is if a movie doesn't have a huge budget and eye blowing CGI it's going to suck. Dredd needs to be gritty and raw and the film looks like it could deliver, reports from people at SDCC say it's pretty gory, graphically violent and dark everything Dredd should be, he shouldnt be cracking one liners. No doubt Karl Urban can deliver a great Dredd hopefully the rest of the movie delivers and it could be a huge hit, fingers crossed.

    #16 11 years ago

Yeah, the new JD looks awful. Why is he talking like Batman? Ugh.

    #17 11 years ago

Love the pin. It gets the most time out of my entire collection.

    #18 11 years ago

The movie looked good to me from the Preview .... Seems to suit the theme well

Dredd looked staunch ... As he is supposed to.

Will suit the pinball machine as the machine is based on the comic and this movie looks to be following the comic model ...

    Dave.

I don't get why you guys think it looks so bad. Because its not Marvel or directed by Christopher Nolan? A rated R, SCI-FI comic movie!!! Come on. I think it looks good. A little "Cheese" is a given and a must in a movie like this. Dredd is gonna Rock!!!

    #20 11 years ago

I saw the trailer on the big screen the other day...... It didn't help one bit. I'll watch it but I don't have high hopes.

I agree. While I don't think the movie will do very well at the box office because of it's R rating and lack of hype, I think it has potential to be an awesome movie! It kind of reminds me of "Escape from New York" with lots of over the top blood and gore and comic book/sci-fi elements mixed in. I'm frankly a little tired of all of the PG-13 Super Hero movies. It's been a while since we've had an adult comic book movie like "The Watchmen" or the Blade series. I'm looking forward to seeing it! The reviews I've read thus far seem pretty positive:

It looks bad period. Don't try and put lipstick on the pig. Batman voice, punisher stance, and the actor looks like his costume is too big. The lead lady is from Game of Thrones and Terminator the TV series. She looks bad in this as well. Sorry has rental all over it.

Judge Dredd pinball is fun just please don't reboot it with this movie.

And there lies the problem, the market gets flooded with PG13 super hero movies (I'm a fan of most of them btw) because they make big bucks because everyone flocks to the multiplex/cinema to see them. But as Soon as an R-rated comic book movie is released with a gritty low budget look, the people moaning about too many pg13 movies and asking for something different or that there fav comic book hero has been dumbed down and commercialised moan that an r rated comic book movie is too gritty and doesn't look more like the over the top cgi heavy pg13 movies.

Personally as I said above this movie looks solid, Karl Urban always delivers and can carry a mediocre movie into being a good movie, hell DOOM was pretty awful but he made it watchable at least, but this looks and feels like Judge Dreed, dark, gritty, violent and adult orientated we should be thankful we actually have an R rated comic book movie that looks potentially true to its source material instead of another hollywoodised masaccre of the source material. I hope the movie is awesome and people support it otherwise we won't see another R rated or true to source material comic book movie again for a while if ever.

Any truth to that E Online rumor that the Brady Bunch may be in this movie? Surprise ending where all 6 kids are fighting crime, hand in hand, with Judge!!! Some CT Led's should make this PF shine if true. Get some super brights for Marsha ( I had a crush on her growing up, lol

I can't wait for the straight to DVD launch.

I was hoping this movie would be Dredd and Anderson vs. the four Dark Judges.

    Hopes have been dashed.

We may have to bring back Shazaam! if that happens. Ha!

    Liked it. Thanks for sharing

    #30 11 years ago

Variety gave it thumbs up. Hope it does well enough for a sequel then we get the Dark Judges.

    #31 11 years ago

It didn't look as bad as I expected from the comments. Seems more like the comic book character should.

Looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for the link.

    #32 11 years ago

Just watched another short trailer. Certainly not PG13.

    Yeah Great...for straight to video.

(update: just saw it..I made a bad call, this movie should have redeemed the franchise)

    #34 11 years ago

Good clip Andyj. Hadn't seen that one.

I think this movie looks really cool and really violent. Glad it has the matrixy/300 slowmo type feal to it. Early reviews are excellent on Rotten Tomatoes

    #35 11 years ago

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I like the fact that is has a dark, gritty look to it. Also like the idea of Robocop-levels of violence. However, add me in to the crowd that was hoping that the film would have the Dark Judges.

    As an aside, I just picked this up at the bookstore this weekend;

    http://www.amazon.com/Dredd-Collecting-Death-Kingdom-Blind/dp/1781080771/ref=sr_1_5

It's not a novelization of the movie, but three short stories involving Dredd. The first story has the Dark Judges in it.

Just saw this on the big screen last night and....

    WOW!

If you have any interest in Judge Dredd, get yourself to the theater ASAP. Great, great film. It's extremely well done, and never felt "low-budget" at all. Very violent, very graphic, and very, very cool.

Be forwarned, however. If you are at all squeamish, this may not be the movie for you. Some scenes are pretty nasty and gory.

As far as comic book movies go, Dredd is pretty much the antithesis of the Avengers. No big special effects. No real over-the-top one liners. No real "human interest" back-story or "feelings" crap. Just gritty, hard-hitting action and good guy vs. bad guy violence. The tone, setting, and feel of the world they create are absolutely spot-on.

Can you tell I like this film?

^^^+1, I'm going to see it tonight! BTW this movie gets a 77% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so that's good enough for me. Plus I think I'm buying this game soon and I can't wait to get it!

Would like to check out JD movie myself.
In my area it is only showing at a few theaters. Not popular or limited showing?
Only available in 3D? Not a fan of 3D glasses.

    #40 11 years ago

I agree about 3d, overrated. But Dredd the new movie is absolutely kick ass and I would see it in the theater anyway you can. Seriously a great movie imo.

Watched this last night, wanted to catch it before it left the theaters, as it got no buzz whatsoever. Was going to see it last weekend didn't find time to do it. Was going to watch it tonight, but noticed that not only was it at the cheap theater already, the last showing was last night before it was gone.

I enjoyed it. Very stylized, ultra-violent fun. The visuals were great. 3D was ok, I'm not a big fan of it but it didn't bother me that much. I've never read the comics so I can't say how true to the comics the feel was. I did get a little sick of Dredd talking through clenched teeth the whole time but if that's the way he was supposed to be then that's fine.

This I don't understand: it was a 9:20 pm showing on a school night for a very violent and profane rated R movie, and half the people in there looked to be kids 10 or under. I'm no Ward Cleaver, but WTF are some parents thinking?

    #42 11 years ago

I thought the new film was fantastic... I felt like I stepped into mega city one!!

Dredd is now out on DVD/Blu-Ray.

If you haven't seen this yet, go buy it / rent it tonight!

Damn good movie but one thing REALLY SUCKS.....it tanked so we likely wont see another...ITS A GOOD OLD FASHION 90's Style ASS KICKING BLOOD SPLATTERING GOOD TIME

    #45 11 years ago

We watched it over the weekend. I thought it was very good. The slow-mo special effects were something I have never seen before and very impressive.

For sure worth a redbox rental for the nite.

    #46 11 years ago

epic movie may use proc to edit the game change music and add video mode
Someone should make a alternative cabinet decals

    #47 11 years ago

I also caught DREDD last week in HD! GREAT flick!!! Highly recommend it!

    #48 11 years ago

I thought it was great and even better in 3D.

    #49 11 years ago

It was good, I bought the blu-ray when it came out. It would have been nice if it did better as the could have done cursed earth or judge death next. can only hope it becomes a cult classic.

    #50 11 years ago

Looks like it only did $14M at the boxoffice. I am sure the budget was much higher than that. I bought it on blu-ray, thought it was well done.
