Welp, don't shoot the messenger of the messenger, but here's what we have. It's real, sort of. Here's a pic of Tim (Cornelius) with the flyer. He was not allowed to take up close photos. The pics he has will be on Pinballnews.com tomorrow. From what he told me and the points on the flyer, here's what I have.

- Not a Magic Girl retheme
- LCD is underneath the glass but bigger than CV's DMD
- MSRP $6,995
- LED's
- Full Backglass
- Custom Stainless Trim
- Bunch of toys

It DOES NOT flip. He said it's gorgeous. Sound like MG?

So I guess the short is nothing to get super excited about. The MG, RAZA and AIW folks still need to be made whole for American Pinball to be successful. Period. Sorry I don't have more. I did my best.

What does that mean?

#704 7 years ago
Quoted from dgarrett:

It's been 80 years since the Cubs won 100 games - but at least that DID happen tonight.

Almost 110 yrs since World Series win! This should be the year.

Had Bryant last yr and Rizzo this year on my big fantasy team. Getting Strop back healthy is big for them heading into playoffs.

Thanks for the update. This is the only takeaway needed. A box of lights.

Agreed.

A non flipping flyer with no close up

All part of the illusion that is usually done with smoke and mirrors!!

Imagine that.

Look at the flyer even, a shot of the (empty) cabinet.

It is so odd to me that this new company is continuing jpop's MO.

Zoom.... Enhance not working

I really wish I had more for you. Tim did say there will be much more tomorrow on pinballnews. Please keep in mind I know some of you don't like Tim but without him we would literally have no info. He jumped on a plane with a day's notice to do the story.

#713 7 years ago

I appreciate his effort.

Geez. You miss one minor detail and the internet rips you a new one.

#715 7 years ago

I hope the playfield looks better than the cab. Reminds me of a Zen virtual pin.

#716 7 years ago

Tough duty out there in Vegas. Good job Corn nuts! Appreciate the effort.

#717 7 years ago

Another thing Tim wants you to know about is he spoke to them about the Zidware customers and AP stated they are 100% committed to taking care of them. They did say the same to me when I spoke to them last night. I know right now it's hyperbole but it's more than we had a week ago. We have to make sure they are taken care of as best we can. Let's not give them any of our business until they are taken care of.

#718 7 years ago

Cleaned it up a little, Non legible.

I would believe/hope that is not the cabinet art, as its stock Houdini photo, I believe.

#719 7 years ago

If they make it to Expo they will need more then a "Display" machine only, otherwise any hype they hope to generate will soon be washed away by scepticism and rightly so. That being said I still think this is the best chance all those that were burnt by Zidware have any hope of seeing some sort of compensation or closure. This still has a long way to play out. My guess is Jpop really sold American Pinball on his "patents" must of convinced them that the intellectual property was worth taking on all the baggage associated with Zidware. Particularly if they want to position themselves as a contract manufacture maybe having unique feature sets that only they can produce will be a selling point? Question still remains is who even owns Zidwares IP?

It's not hard to see how investors could get sucked in to creating a new pinball startup, when Stern are selling out of machines at 10K plus price tags. There is so much more money on the table now when 1000s of buyers are willing to spend at much higher prices. Even at $6995 they are probably seeing a really healthy margin, particularly if they go direct to market.

#720 7 years ago

9k and I'll walk away never to be peeped from again. Happy Houdini. Pinky promise...

#721 7 years ago

Well, I think it's pretty likely now they won't be shocking the world with their pinball at expo. It will be a replay of expo '14.

Definitely not a standard WMS cab. Much closer to the Zidware one.

Nice catch

Quoted from SimonBaird:

The creditors of the Zidware, Inc. estate have first claim on those assets.

Why don't people like Tim?

They're at this trade show trying to SELL this game, right?

THanks Tim. Nice goatee too! Very hip.

I wonder if he's wearing sandals (his feet are cut off).

What a strange, strange story this whole thing. I can't help but think it'll end up in the Crock Hunter dustbin of history, but at least we'll always have the flyer (like Crock Hunter, coincidentally).

Nice working sending him out there to get the scoop! I'm trying to figure out of if Tim is under the spell or if he groaned at the non-flipping nature of it. I guess we'll have to wait till he comes back in 29 days.

I'm afraid so..

Is there any live feeds at the trade show you guys know of?

That's not a reveal, that's a teaser. Things are supposed to work when you reveal them.

#733 7 years ago

AP must be under the spell of JPOP and listening to all of his advice on how to reveal a non flipping cabinet.

#734 7 years ago

The company should focus on making restitution with the scammed buyers, before announcing a new pin.

I tell you though I've seen enough hype to know that in reality if the game is good no one will care who they've partnered with. The golden ticket is to make a game that people will pine for, The thing will then sell..even if they make it with illegal child labor in India.

Quoted from desertT1:

Tell that to the car shows that have the nerve to display static displays and even... Gasp... Mock ups. Star Trek LE anyone One???

But these guys are in for a rough ride (and pinside post counts) if they keep displaying static bits because they need to prove they can actually get to the end.

Sounds like the foam Kiss mock up

#739 7 years ago

Does not flip...Oh, OK, back to waiting for JJP#3, Alien, etc.

This. If it's any good and priced below 7K it will sell very well. People are fed up with the ridiculous pricing strategy of the established producers - in any other market competition leads to lower prices, in pinball it seems to be the other way around.

anyone in their right mind, wont commit a dime to this.

Doubt it, there's always someone out there willing to take the risk

Will there be a risk? I can't imagine AP wants to use any kind of prepay/preorder strategy. I can even less imagine any pinhead would be stupid enough to ever prepay any pin again.

But then again it's a small miracle to me that people actually prepaid stuff in the past, that business model was always a complete no-go to me.
