    Ok, I am

Quoted from rcbrown316:Thats cool I didnt read the whole thread. What did you do with the ceiling? I painted mine flat black and left it open because i need a ccess to pull wiring and hate drop ceilings. That space is 31 x 22 then my shop is 31 x 17. Pretty sure I cant fit 18 pins in both areas but I am working on it. Centaur arriving tomorrow which gets me to 7. Included a before shot so you can see how much bigger it looks. Check it out.

That looks killer! I see you arent afraid of a little color either! Great job

    Quoted from pinzrfun:

Carpet for both reasons....j would lean more towards comfort though.

Check out Memory Foam pad, it's antimicrobal and acts as a vapor barrier. It's more expensive then the chip stuff but dents just spring back and it won't fall apart over time like the chip stuff. I have 3/8in. under my black light carpet makes it just soft enough.

While we were getting floor sealer, I saw something that I thought would look great for the "feature wall" that you see first thing when you come down the stairs....and I remembered my "Pinball Alley" sign I'd gotten at the Chicago Expo years before.....

The cut-out area is where the 3 switches will go that will turn on all the games at once. Three 20 amp circuits spread around the basement.

To be honest, I actually kind of miss the snow.

haha.... you wouldn't be saying that if you were in Michigan this past Jan-March....
    Worst winter EVER. Really, ever.

    #55 9 years ago

Wow that's an incredible area you have and you have created a great space for pins. I am so envious of you guys in the US having house designs that enable such a creation and of course access to games aplenty relative to we here in Australia-congrats.

Heck, let's start slinging some paint. I've been lucky enough to have friends with awesome game rooms so we had an idea or 2 about colors......

Well, nothing lasts forever and this post is about to come to a close for a little while. This brings us up to the present day. We've moved the air hockey and foosball in but still have to get our final inspection before we can move everything else over. Carpet and trim -

That's about it for now, guys. I'll post more when the sci-fi/mad scientist bar is done and the games go in. Thanks for the kind words and compliments, I've enjoyed sharing this with everyone! If you're ever around southeast MI, drop me a line. Don

Lol....I have been following your thread for a while! Gameroom looks great!

    #65 9 years ago

You really do have a great space. Can't wait to see it finished. The black ceiling REALLY makes it look more open and bigger.

    #66 9 years ago

Do you have an easy way to get games in or down the stairs they go?

    #67 9 years ago

    Imagination would go wild!!!

    #68 9 years ago

nice job, wish i can finish mine... one day.

    #69 9 years ago

Lighting placement is critical and it looks like you already know that but i learned the hard way. I wasnt planning on having a shitpile of pinball machines when I tore my basement out. In fact I wasnt planning on anything aside from an empty basement. Then the inevitable happens. "wouldn't it be cool if...". Anyway, I positioned all the cans without taking glare into consideration and have had to add track lights, blue bulbs, diffusers etc in order to not have the reflection. I have 7 machines. If you are planning on having 18 you might wanna get some can lights with wheels...20140716_010247.jpg20140716_010247.jpg

I've got that on my wall too, slickdeals had them on sale a few months back for like $5/each

ThinkGeek.com has them every now and then for $1. Good luck leaving without buying more stuff though.

Omg. Looks like someone stole a bunch of your pins and hid the open space with a Christmas tree!

    Yes, an Escalera : )
I wish it was a walkout but it's a straight shot through the garage straight down the basement so it's the best I could ask for.

You guys in 'merica are lucky, here in the UK if we want an arcade the only way is to build another building out back, convert our garages into mini gamerooms or convert our houses into a arcade

    #76 9 years ago

Looking good Don, ready to take some long lunches over at your place.

In The Bay Area and many other parts of California. We are in the same situation. No basements

    #78 9 years ago

For the most part, no basements in Texas either.

That looks awesome, and I can't believe you did it in about 2 weeks. When I finished mine 8 years ago, it took me the better part of 3 months and it's nowhere near the size of that. Very nice job - enjoy!

love the brick you chose but not big on the purple green and blue. Does your wife read this thread?

    #85 9 years ago

I love this thread. The pics remind me of our basement build-out in 2004. I'm thinking of turning my home office into an EM room. I could get 3 in there comfortably if I just got rid of my treadmill and downsized my desk.

Games started moving in this weekend. Theater of Magic and rocky and Bullwinkle are on deck in the garage waiting for their turn.
I was amazed after being in storage for 6 years, not a single error message on AFM. One switch adjustment on ToM. Even KISS fired right up.

Soon as I get all of them set up and dialed in - looking forward to starting on the mad scientist lab, picked up a couple cool things for that today. Anyways, put fresh batteries in the games today, the crowd was getting restless that they couldnt save their initials....
