"Jersey girls don't pump gas" is a common bumper sticker here. Apathy and complacency is abundant in NJ. Every time discussion to change it to self-serve comes up, people come out of the woodwork protesting it, despite it having the effect of lowering the price by around $.10-.15 per gallon. I'd imagine that tax cut would be short lived though. Despite that, I'd still rather pump my own gas.
A large pocket of NJ simply never leave the state, and are perfectly happy to pretend the rest of the USA doesn't exist. Probably more than 1/3 of drivers here have never even pumped their own gas. My wife hadn't even until just last year!
