This thread and the photos have been GREAT to help illustrate to my wife what is in store for her in the next 4-6 months... thanks!!

    Quoted from Yelobird:

As I said its really not that invasive. Like having hobbits under the house (with jack hammers). While not common throughout the US, having a basement in Chicago is fairly common. Technically if weather cooperated, they take only 14 days to pull this off.

Are you just referring to the actual dig and concrete pour, or the whole build-out?

    Quoted from Yelobird:

I mean in 14 days there is a 1000 sq foot room with windows that wasn’t there. Not including all the finish work epoxy floors, electrical runs, and HVAC updates. All in all not that long compared to most additions from my experience. Helps that I did home renovation and construction in the past so the secondary work is rather easy.

    Ok THAT makes more sense

Hopefully this doesn't come off rash or condescending but I guess the ultimate question is why wouldn't you just move to a house that has a basement? This whole project has to be costing an arm and a leg. I would imagine it would have been cheaper just to sell the house and buy something new that actually fit your needs better. I commend you on your effort and your dedication to provide yourself a better game room but my goodness it seems like a very hard way to go to ultimately get what you needed. I have to admit I'm hooked on watching the whole process and looking forward to how it plays out so best of luck moving forward on this massive undertaking.

It always costs more to move to a bigger house in the same region. We are going to do a similar project, basement plus 2 main levels and it will cost us 250. To move to a comparable size house in the same neighborhood would cost me 700, no kidding

Who says I stopped buying!!! lol Actually the only set back I personally take full credit for. Seen the opportunity to buy many of the classic and hard to find titles I always wanted and figured "why not there will be room soon!" Well, now with the delay of constant rain I have 23 NEW games folded and stored in every corner I could find as well as local friends nice enough to let me crash some at their place. Just couldn't pass up those deals.... I have a problem!

    Holy crap!

    Quoted from PinMonk:

The one you have to be careful of is the enema option (or just too strong on the jets). Totos dialed back the pressure available on all their models starting with the S300s a few years ago because even though there was a warning in the manual about over-use of the enema/strong jets mode, people were not listening and ended up with degraded sphincter strength (i.e. leaky butts). I know most of the higher end Bio-bidets still have this mode, so if you do, or even if the jets have the ability to go very strong, be careful with it. With great power comes great responsibility.

Yeah I was gonna ask what a Washlet is but uh.. yeah I guess I don’t need to. Oh, thanks for all the detail, BTW.

The Squatty Potty is a real life changer.

LOL my wife got one of these for me 2 years ago. It lasted 4 months before I chucked it
